Those are both great points, Alyssa. I'm quite--dare I say it--excited to see the episode and the ratings. But I'm also just as excited for next week's ratings, which will tell if either of these factors (the PTC controversy and Greek) really affect the show beyond just a one week spike. The ratings have been all over the place this season.

I have a feeling that we will see a big ratings increase for Gossip Girl this week. My reasoning? I think the PTC has made this episode stand out so much that it has generated a lot of attention, whether it was necessary or not. Secondly, I know a lot of people (myself included) that are fans of both Greek (abc Family) and GG and now that Greek has had it's 5th chapter finale, I think those fans will be tuning in to GG. Infact, this will be the first time all season that I will be watching it as it airs on the CW.

Hi Mark. Thanks for the comment. Trust me, I completely agree the show is in need of repairing. In fact, I've felt that way since it started (see: http://teendramawhore.wordpress.com/about-the-whore/texting-josh-schwartz-not-everyone-loves-gossip). I didn't think anything was wrong with your article except for the comment that the cast isn't interacting with each other. All the storylines involve each other. Even the ones where guest stars play a big role, there's usually another core member involved in some way for some part of it. But I do think there are too many secondary characters who come and go, and that goes along with the idea that--like Josh Schwartz did with The O.C.--the show moves through plot too fast. I also agree with you that the show isn't going anywhere. While the overnight ratings are definitely dropping, the buzz isn't and The CW's support isn't either. Regarding the PTC, I think the main counterargument that should be said is, like you pointed out in your article, that they haven't even see the episode yet. But I don't quite have the same hatred for the PTC as you seem to. (Which is OK. We're all entitled to our own opinions). My readers and I had a discussion about the PTC issue here: http://teendramawhore.com/2009/11/03/news-roundup-one-tree-hill-gossip-girl-90210-and-more-7. Again, thanks for the comment.

Hello, I wrote the article dealing with 'Gossip Girl'. While I am a huge fan, I just feel that the show is in need of repairing, but not the way the Daily News thought. I thought that the Daily News exaggerated the impending death of Gossip Girl. It still ranks high on iTunes downloads and is still in the mouths of magazines. In other words, it's not going anywhere. But I still feel that the storylines and character interactions need work, because too many guest stars are pushing other characters (i.e., Jenny, Rufus, and Lily) as props in the background and I hate that. The could have cured the Jenny problem by doing The It Girl spin-off, which is the spin-off series for the books, but they tried to do something with Lily that didn't make sense. But I would love to know what you thought was wrong with the article so I can have another insight other than "Gossip Girl is lame", which is what I have been hearing. Also check out my other article I wrote on the PTC coming after Gossip Girl if you get a chance. Love the site!
