While watching One Tree Hill reruns this week, I was reminded of a continuity error.
In season 5, Jamie’s birthday was at the end of April.
But we know from the season 4, that Jamie was born in June.
I hate mistakes/changes like this!
Beverly Hills 90210 had a similar error as well: Kelly’s birthday was in Spring according to season 3 but in season 6 her birthday was in the fall.
There used to be a site that listed nearly every continuity error from 90210. Every show has a ton but they always seem so careless and insulting.
Do these bother you, too?
Continuity errors only bother me when they are blatantly obvious. It is a slap in the face to devoted fans of the series. The ones I hate the most are when they cast a different person for a character that had already appeared.
Do you have an example? 90210 did that with Kelly’s father (season 3 versus later seasons) and Donna’s mom (early season 1 versus later seasons).
well on One Tree Hill they did that with Peyton’s dad…
Yes, yes, I remember that now!
Here is a site, as you mencioned, that lists a few mistakes from movies and TV series: http://www.moviemistakes.com/
Not the one I was thinking of, but thanks for sharing Ezequiel!
There are pages on there Beverly Hills 90210, Dawson’s Creek, The O.C., and One Tree Hill. The Gossip Girl page doesn’t have any listings.
Also, it just occurred to me that sometimes Wikipieda or IMDB (in the Goofs and Trivia sections) lists things like this.
Kaitlin and Trey from the O.C. were both recasts and like Kevin said Peyton’s dad on OTH was a recast. I can’t think of any of the top of my head for DC, and I think it’s still too early for that to happen on GG…
Great examples! Interestingly enough, the original Kaitlin has a show of her own–The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
On DC, Jen’s mom was played by two different actresses.
Oh yeah! I forgot about her mom… and the only thing good I can say about them recasting the “Secret Life” girl is that I don’t think she could pull of the new attitude that Kaitlin had in the last two seasons. She was a cute little tweeny-bopper then came back as a rebellious pothead with a snarky attitude.
Another problem with that actress: her age/youth-like looks. When we first met Kaitlin, she was 12. She then came back as 16, a victim of SORASing (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome), so they needed an actress to fit/look that age. Which is kind of surprising given that, on teen dramas, the actors almost never look their age.
