News Roundup: 90210, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill

30 09 2009
  • 90210 had 2.2 million viewers last night, the same as last week, which is interesting given that the show didn’t air in some markets last night.
  • Just like last season, the 7-day DVR viewing data shows 90210 had a bigger audience for its premiere than the overnight ratings indicated.
  • Apparently Shenae Grimes (Annie, 90210) recently spent some time blogging for Nylon.
  • EW.com has an article on “older actors playing young,” citing both Trevor Donovan (Teddy, 90210) and Gabrielle Cateris (Andrea, Beverly Hills 90210) as examples.  Donovan and I briefly discussed this a bit in our interview.
  • Jason Priestley (Brandon, Beverly Hills 90210) will be the star in a Canadian comedy series.
  • If you want to know more about showbizzle, which is run by Charles Rosin (executive producer, Beverly Hills 90210), check out this video interview.
  • Talking Gossip After Dark has a new podcast.
  • Totally agree with EW.com on this new Gossip Girl promo photo.
  • I hate to promote tabloids but US Weekly has a spread on Gossip Girl’s wardrobe closet.
  • Kate Voegele (Mia, One Tree Hill) has a new video diary thingie on YouTube.
  • There is a new SoGoPro podcast, featuring Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill).  She’s also in some new vlogs.

Reaction: Gossip Girl 3.03

30 09 2009

In lieu of live-blogs Monday and Tuesday night, I offer you my old-school reaction post.

I posted One Tree Hill yesterday and 90210 will be up later in the week.

EPISODE 3.03:  THE LOST BOY

  • Previously on: Scott freaking a bit, Bree hoping her parents will accept Chace, Serena spoiling Chuck’s plans, Chuck questioning Serena’s relationship with Carter, Serena telling Carter she wants to be with him, Dan making up an excuse to Vanessa and kissing Georgina
  • Blair just finished her first class.  It’s about time.
  • She wants a “mid-morning reniassiance” or something with Chuck.  Why am I not surprised?
  • Instead she walks in on Georgina making out with Dan!  And Dan has his shirt off!
  • Understandably, Blair is freaking out.
  • Q1: “Don’t think you can run me out of my room with a half-naked Dan Humphrey.”  “Fine.  Stay.  Maybe you’ll learn something.”–Blair and Georgina
  • Q2: From Serena to Georgina? Quite a fall, even for you.–Blair to Dan
  • Georgina says everyone else will be supportive of them…including Serena.  Yeah, right.
  • How long has it been since the last episode?
  • What weird timing!  Dan just ran into Serena in the hall.  Of course she would be on campus and in that dorm at this very moment.
  • Love that she knows Dan is doing the “walk of shame.”  His open shirt certainly doesn’t help.
  • LOL I love Serena and Vanessa freaking out at the possibility of Dan with Serena.
  • But now they’re having a calm conversation about it. Mature.
  • Q3: College is the time for experimentation.–Vanessa
  • Aw, they say they’re going to “tease [him] mercilessly” but “without judgment.”  Kind of sweet.
  • Q4: Besides, who doesn’t have a Georgina in their closet?–Serena (Not exactly sure what that means or who she is referring to.  I guess Carter?)
  • Q5: You wanna button up, and come with me tiger?–Serena to Dan
  • Vanessa sort of catches Scott in a lie.  And he continues to be all mysterious.
  • Woah!  Scott is actually at Lily’s place playing guitar with Rufus!
  • I truly don’t think he’s into Vanessa and has just been using her the whole time.
  • Scott says he wants to talk to Rufus about something!
  • But Rufus cuts in and gives the fatherly hint that he better not hurt Vanessa.
  • Jenny and Eric just walked in, and she said hi to Scott.  When have they met before?  I guess we’re just supposed to assume they have.
  • Scott, clearly uncomfortable, leaves.  Good riddance.
  • Jenny says Scott’s been spending a lot of time there.  Guess it makes sense then that she knows him.  Also indicates it’s been at least a few days since the last episode, and Scott still is acting weird without telling anyone the truth.
  • Dan thanks Serena for being cool about Georgina, which Serena attributes to the fact that she’s dating Carter–much to Dan’s surprise.
  • Q6: Is that because Chuck isn’t currently available?–Dan
  • Q7: If Georgina likes somebody, she will go from zero to crazy before you know it.–Serena
  • Carter and Serena are kind of cute.
  • Apparently Carter’s parents have cut him off.  That’s news.  He stills looks pretty spiffy.  And wants to go to a hotel with Serena.
  • Q8: Where there’s a white fluffy road, there’s a way.–Carter
  • Wonder if it’s weird for Leighton and Penn to watch their respective significant others kiss each other!
  • Some chick named Aubrey walks up and claims she slept with Carther.  And slaps him.
  • Carter denies it and says that’s not “him anymore.”
  • Serena is clearly upset–and rightly so.
  • Vanessa is doing some detective work on Scott–it’s about time!
  • Q9: The questions we fear the most to ask are the ones we actually already know the answers to.–Gossip Girl
  • Vanessa asks the admin if Scott is even a student at NYU.  Ding ding ding!
  • No record of a Scott Adler.  Shocker.
  • It seems that Blair and Chuck’s relationship is only about the physical.
  • Kind of glad to see him pushing her away so he can do his work.
  • Blair feels like she has nowhere to go.  How about home??
  • Le Table Elitare invitation.  Whatever that means.
  • LOL Dan is making it clear to Georgina that they are doing friends benefits and not together.
  • Georgina claims it’s “no strings” but I can’t believe that.
  • Ah, it means The Elite Table!  Duh.  I feel stupid now.
  • And apparently it’s a Secret Society.  Chuck’s been there and done that but I imagine this will be different.
  • It’s NYU’s secret academic society.  I suppose that is very different than one with prostitutes.
  • Blair’s upset because she hasn’t had sex with Chuck in 5 days. That just proves my above point.
  • Lily still doesn’t know Serena isn’t going to Brown?!  How is that possible??
  • Blair disses Carter yet again.  I don’t think she’s being fair.  Serena has plenty of reasons to tell Blair that Chuck’s no good for her but she doesn’t.
  • Chuck is flirting with the business dude’s assistant-partner person thingie.  Typical Chuck.
  • Chuck planning to go to the Sotheby’s auction.  And so is Serena.  Should be interesting.
  • First Nate and Bree scene.
  • Bree says her parents still won’t talk to her.
  • Q10: I even wrote on my dad’s Facebook wall.–Bree
  • Nate says he wants to go out and be seen by other people…as they walk along a Manhattan street.
  • Bree wants to meet Nate’s friends.  That’s kind of cute.  Legitimizes things more.
  • Blair is at the auction, too, and thinks Chuck is there for her.  Cause it’s all about her.
  • Q12: My prayers have been answered! A secret collegiate society wants me.–Blair
  • Whoops.  Blair and Chuck are going to go after the same picture!
  • Q13: Well, you’re not getting it!  Or anything else I might add!
  • Vanessa is going to call Scott out!  Good!
  • Scott’s response: “It’s complicated.”  Lame.
  • Good thing Vanessa is saying she won’t stand for it.
  • WOAH! He just revealed the truth! I did not expect him to do that!
  • Q14: I am Rufus and Lily’s son.–Scott
  • Vanessa looks shocked.  Wonder if she’ll believe him.
  • Q15: I hope everyone’s policies are paid up because it’s look like we’re on a collision course.–Gossip Girl
  • Wow.  He’s really coming clean and telling Vanessa everything–he found out he was adopted and decided he wanted to find his birth parents.  He told his adopted parents, who said they had already spoken with them and they wanted nothing to do with him.
  • Which we know is a lie.  And Vanessa is telling him that–Lily and Rufus went looking for him, and his parents said he was dead.
  • Wouldn’t think Vanessa would know this intimate detail about Lily and Rufus’ life.
  • Scott says the death was his younger brother.  And wants to talk to his parents first.
  • Q16: It’s been 20 years.  What’s a day or two more?  If you have any feelings for me, you won’t say anything yet.–Scott
  • A fair request regardless, I suppose, and she probably does have feelings for him anyway.
  • Carter’s card was at a hotel is rejected, just as Serena appears.  Carter denies that the charges are all his but she doesn’t believe him.
  • Q17: You would make a terrible poker player.–Serena
  • Q18: “I want to believe you’ve changed. You’re just making it hard for me.” “If you don’t trust me, then what are we doing?”–Serena and Carter
  • Those are both very fair points.
  • I really like Serena’s makeup.  And I like this storyline.  I think.
  • Q19: “I came to apologize.” “So apologize.” “That was it.  But I came with a bottle of champagne.”–Chuck and Blair
  • Chuck proposes that neither go to the auction.  Not what I expected.  He must have some other plan.
  • Q20: “I already have my bidding paddle.”  “I’m sure we can find some other use for it.”–Blair and Chuck
  • Vanessa asked Dan to meet her.  Guess she’s going to betray Scott and tell the truth.
  • Saved by the Georgina!
  • And Dan is going to the auction, too!  And Rufus! And Vanessa!  So contrived!
  • Dan is opening to Georgina, who suggests they find out who Scott really is.  This can’t end well.
  • I love that Blair and Chuck are making out…and fiddling with their phones to stay atop of the auction, thinking the other one has no clue.  I feel like this has been done before in some form on so many other shows.
  • Q21: I guess Dorota’s counter-intelligence isn’t what it used to be.–Chuck
  • Chuck at least admits he did come over to distract her.
  • Looks like the Humphrey loft has been redecorated. Random.
  • Georgina is doing a search on Scott.  They find out his real last name, and you can tell Dan is connecting the dots.
  • Scott says he stayed in town because of Vanessa, even though his parents “didn’t take it very well” that he found Rufus.
  • Vanessa says he doesn’t have to tell Rufus alone.  Kind of sweet.
  • Whoops. Dan connected the wrong dots.  Sort of.  He realizes Scott is the one that wrote him that fan letter a while back.
  • Q22: So he’s kind of like your stalker?  How rock star is that?–Georgina
  • I kind of like this Georgina.  Helpful, calm, not evil.
  • Dan leaves Vanessa a message that Scott isn’t who he says he is and could be dangerous. A bit over the top. And V already knows he’s not who he said he was but she didn’t tell him that. I wonder if this message will make her think Scott is lying again.
  • Figures Dan asks her to go to the auction with him.  Though that is SO not the right place for all of this to go down.
  • WTF! Nate and Bree are going to the auction, too!  (When I first wrote that, I wrote Chace and Nate.  That wouldn’t make much sense.  LOL)
  • Their scenes feel like such a waste.  Filler that isn’t even necessary.  It could be a lot more compelling if there was more of it.
  • Love Serena’s dress!
  • Q23: There aren’t enough curse words in the world to satisfy me right now.–Blair
  • Serena tells Blair she was right about Carter but we don’t know that that’s true yet.  Wish Serena learned by now to give people more of a chance.  She would want the same.
  • Serena and Chuck are still facing off.  I wonder how much longer this will last.  I like when they fight but I like when they bond, too.
  • Almost kind of like Vanessa’s dress, too. Kind of.
  • Wow, Scott isn’t wasting any time trying to tell Rufus.  Respectable.  Too bad Rufus stops him.
  • Uht oh! Scott’s mom is there to stop him!  How did she know where they’d be?
  • How convenient.  The picture Blair and Chuck want is the first piece up.
  • LOL Chuck and Blair were so busy arguing with each other–and making good points, mind you–that Serena outbid them!
  • I do hate that they just have this money to spend whenever they want.  Seven thousand dollars!
  • Scott’s mom says she came straight to NY after he called. She knew where Lily lived, and the doorman told her about the auction.
  • She says she’s not here to stop him. Hm.
  • Q24: I’m here to stand by you.–Scott’s mom (Kind of sweet, no?)
  • Wow, this scene is making me tear up. I don’t know that Gossip Girl has ever done that to me.
  • Q25: “This is my kind of date.” “Racing to an art auction to confront a stalker? Was your last boyfriend Batman?–Georgina and Dan
  • So much for not dating and not being boyfriend-girlfriend-y.
  • I don’t like what Georgina’s wearing. She looks kind of trampy.
  • LOL Georgina just had to re-introduce herself to Rufus as NOT Sarah.
  • Dan points out all the sketcy things in regards to Scott, when Vanessa conveniently walks up and says Scott can explain everything, when Scott and his mom conveniently walk up.
  • Why isn’t Rufus instantly recognizing Scott’s mom?!
  • Oh, wait.  Did they only meet the dad?
  • WOAH! Scott just LIED!  Or didn’t quite tell the truth.  He said he just really wanted to meet him, since he’s his brother’s real father.
  • Man, is this really going to be prolonged some more?  Josh Schwartz either goes too quickly or not quick enough.  Jeez.
  • Dan and Vanessa are shocked…but for different reasons.
  • Q26: Sorry, Vanessa. I guess the price of truth was just too rich for Scott’s blood.–Gossip Girl
  • OMG! Serena figured out that it was Blair and Chuck “sabotaging” Carter and doing those things.  Did not see that coming at all!  Good for her for connecting the dots.
  • Q27: “I did it protect you.”  “Me, I just hate the guy.”–Blair and Chuck
  • Blair had decent intentions, I guess, but like always, she went about it all wrong.
  • Chuck says he hates Carter in part for the way he spent his summer: checking in and out of every hotel across the globe and only coming home when he was broke.
  • But! Serena explains that Carter was actually looking for her father.  Awww.
  • And the Santirini mystery is solved!  For those that don’t remember, Carter and Serena had some kind of falling out a while back which is why she’s hated him since.  No one else knew what went down but now Serena explains that she had found her dad and was going to confront him.  Carter offered a boat to help…a stolen boat.  Okay. I can accept that, I guess, if I have to accept everything else.
  • Bree just overheard that whole conversation and has a strange look on her face.  Would love to see her connected to this somehow ’cause right now she and Nate seem sooo irrelevant.
  • Rufus is happy Scott came to him, and wants to get to know him but Scott resists.
  • Aw, Rufus just hugged him and you can just tell Scott is melting inside.  Just tell him the truth, dammit!  Rufus would be even more warm and welcoming, I’m sure.  But the more you lie, the more he’s gonna be pissed.
  • Rufus has a strange look now, too!  Wonder if he figured out the truth himself?  Or is about to?
  • Blair apologizes to Serena…but again questions if Carter is worth it!  She has a lot of nerve.
  • Glad to see Serena is biting back.
  • Q28: You and Chuck are two of the most self-centered damaged people I know…somehow two wrongs make a twisted right.  You don’t think it was worth the risk?–Serena  (Yes! This is the point I made above.)
  • Serena looks so fed up with Blair and Chuck’s antics and drama.  I don’t blame her.  I don’t like it anymore.
  • Serena sees the secret society invitation Blair got and says “you gotta be kidding me.”  What is that about?!
  • Blair is giving Chuck the picture, but neither should take it, IMO.
  • Q29: I want you to have this…because I love you, you enormously stubborn pain in the ass.–Blair
  • Q30: I believe in you.  And if this is what it takes for you to believe in you, it’s worth it.–Blair
  • I don’t see how this will accomplish that but whatever.
  • I doubt Chuck will keep the picture, though.
  • Aha! Georgina sent Blair that invite.  It’s all a prank to get even!  Figures!
  • Serena tells G she has’t changed and asks about Dan.
  • Q31: Dan is Dan. But when it comes to Blair Waldoft, all I have to do is sit back, light a match and watch her go up in flames.–Georgina
  • Serena vows to stand by Blair when she wants to get revenge against G.
  • Rufus wants to go to dinner now, though Vanessa is still clearly upset.
  • Serena covers for where Georgina is, though if Dan had half a brain, he’d be able to tell she was lying.
  • For someone who hates signs of wealth, Vanessa seems to have no problem going to these events…and getting in the limo afterwards.
  • Georgina comes out to see Dan leaving.  She looks kind of sad.  I’m not sure whether to feel bad for her.  It’s possible she’s being genuine with him.
  • Next day, Georgina is on the phone with Dan who is being cold to her.  Apparently, Serena told Dan what she did to Blair.
  • Dan insists they take a break.  Good idea.
  • Is that a picture of them on Georgina’s laptop backgrounbd?!  I can’t tell if the guy is Dan.
  • Serena apologizes to Dan but he says she did the right thing by telling him.  I forget that they are siblings now.  I just see exes and base all their interactions with each other around that.
  • Serena says Carter isn’t returning her calls and that he wants nothing to do with her.
  • Q32: I highly doubt that. You’re a pretty tough one to shake.–Dan (Awww! See, there is still a lot subtext going on!)
  • Chuck calls out the business girl on setting up the photo thing with Georgina.  I didn’t realize the Chuck stuff was part of it, too.  I thought the scam was just on Blair’s end.  That went right over my head. Whoopsie.
  • Q33: Georgina has an MBA in deviant behavior.–Girl
  • Chuck gives the exec the photo, anyway, but blames the girl.
  • Scott comes to say goodbye and Vanessa refuses to keep the secret.
  • Scott makes an interesting point: Rufus and Lily chose to give him up (I guess he doesn’t know Rufus had nothing to do with it).  He wants to choose to keep things the way they are.
  • Just sucks that V is caught in the middle of it now!  And sad that Rufus got so close to his son without knowing.  It’s not really fair, but I guess what Lily did wasn’t either.
  • Scott says he can’t promise to come back and tell the truth.  Is this really the end of him for now?  I guess Schwartz is trying to save this plot to pick up again later.
  • Scott just gave Vanessa a big kiss.  I still don’t think it’s genuine.  More trying to persuade her to keep quiet.
  • But Georgina was listening the whole time!  Can’t expect her to keep quiet!  But who will she use the info against?
  • Carter comes over, and Serena explains Chuck and Blair were behind it all. Carter explains that he knew but just telling Serena he didn’t do it should’ve been enough.  The trust issue is the point.
  • Serena still looks really good.
  • Carter says he expected her to bolt at some point anyway, but she kisses and says she’s not going to.  Cute.  Curious to see where this relationship goes from here.
  • Carter joins “the family” for breakfast. Kind of nice to see him and Dan shake hands.  Mature.
  • There’s Jenny again. Second scene of the episode but no lines.  I can totally live with that.
  • Chuck bought a hotel! How Dylan McKay of him!
  • Chuck says he can handle it because Blair believes in him.  I get this is supposed to be cute and sweet but I’m not finding it so.
  • Carter and Serena part ways on the street and whattya know, there’s Bree.
  • She and Carter do in fact know each other. Apparently he did something to her family, and her finding him is what will get her back in with her family.  She tells him he can run again, if wants.
  • Wonder what he did!  This is an interesting connection.
  • Georgina is going to Boston!  Perhaps the Scott storyline isn’t over just yet!  Unless we don’t see Georgina for a while again, too, and stuff happens off-screen.  I think she was only going to be in a few episodes, anyway.
  • Q34: Anyone want to start the bidding on what happens next? Going once, going twice…–Gossip Girl
  • Liked this episode much better than the first two this season.
  • Preview: Tya Banks and Hilary Duff episode.

Those are my thoughts. What are yours?

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Are Navid and Adrianna really going to break up on 90210? I love them together! — Katelyn
MICKEY: Well, that’s hard to say. I wonder if it has to do with Teddy? I hope it doesn’t send Ade back to substance abuse.

I can’t wait to see Hilary Duff on Gossip Girl. Who will she have scenes with? — Andrea S.
MICKEY: Who won’t she have scenes with? I had heard that movie star Olivia Burke (Duff) would be rooming with Vanessa, but I had no idea she’d be romancing Dan and working with Serena. (Yes, you heard me right: working.) But forget all that, if you’re looking for an excuse to laugh louder than you ever have in your life honest human emotion, wait until you see Duff and fellow guest star Tyra Banks’ virtuoso performances in Fleur, the film-within-the-show about, of course, the French resistance during World War II. Talk about Les Miserables!

  • Olivia Wilde (Alex, The O.C.) has joined the cast of the film The Next  Three Days.

Reaction: One Tree Hill 7.03

29 09 2009

In lieu of a live-blog last night, I offer you my old-school reaction post.

Gossip Girl will be up later in the week.

EPISODE 7.03:  HOLD MY HAND AS I AM LOWERED

  • Previously on: Quinn telling Haley about her problems with David, Dan introducing Rachel to the audience as his wife, Clay telling Nathan what Renee claims–that she’s pregnant with Nathan’s baby. Renee confronts Nathan.
  • Clubby music for an opening scene.
  • Haley is holding the sonogram.  And the pictures of Nathan with Renee.
  • So at least we know Nathan did in fact tell her.  But by the look on her face, she’s not happy and who can blame her?!
  • Julian in his boxer-briefs is always a welcome sight.
  • LOL He tries to get Brooke turned on like she did last episode, but she’s running out the door.
  • Skills gets out of bed, and takes off his pants before walking into the bathroom.  He screams “I’m gonna kill you, Mouth” but it’s not clear why.
  • Millie goes to Alex’s hotel..and she’s just getting home from the night before!
  • LOL Alex says she keeps the shower on because she “likes the sound of the rain.”
  • Millie is freaking out because Alex is supposed to be at a photo shoot.
  • Drunk Alex is kind of funny.  But she’s probably not even drunk seeing as she just snapped out of her “sleep.”  Just stupid and obnoxious.
  • Q1: Can I just say that I hate you?–Alex to Millie
  • Skills is upset by whatever Mouth did but I’m still not sure what it was.  Really cold shower?  Really hot?
  • Q2: You wanna strip down and parade your little flaccid business around the apartment, that’s cool. Go ahead with your naked ass.–Skills
  • Q3: Hey yo, Jamie Scott.  I need your help.–Skills
  • Mouth’s boss comes up to him, asking what’s going on with Nathan and insinuating that he should find out what’s going on since they’re friends.  Unethical journalism, people!
  • Nathan tells Haley he didn’t sleep with Renee or do anything else.
  • Haley points out that “you have your arm around her at a party with a beer and a smile.”  Valid point? Only sort of.
  • Q4: I get it, Nathan. You got married in high school and you had a son at graduation and you didn’t have time to go out and party with your friends and drunken sluts with perfect teeth.
  • Nathan insists they just took a picture together.
  • Q5: But it looks bad, Nathan. And she’s smart enough to know that. And you should be, too.
  • Haley gets the bigger picture here: it doesn’t matter what happened. It’s he said, she said, and the photo gives her a drop of credibility, which is all she needs.
  • Q6: What they see is who you’ll be.–Dan
  • Dan is back doing his television show, talking about truth. I want to see him doing something else.  And now with homeless men either.
  • Woah! Guy in the audience shouts out…
  • Q7: You’re a murderer! A murderer!  Tell them the truth, Dan, because that’s what you are. How do you sleep at night? And how can you look at yourself in the mirror? Murderer! Murderer!–Man in audience
  • Dan looks stunned. Guess it’s been a while since anyone reminded him of that little fact?
  • Rachel tells them to keep rolling, anyway.
  • Photoshoot is at Clothes Over Bros…with Quinn!  Forgot she was a photographer.
  • Forgot what it’s like to see Quinn happy.  We haven’t seem much of it.  But she’s seems happy to be doing this.
  • And it’s nice to see Quinn interacting with someone that isn’t Haley or Jamie.
  • Alex shows up in the most hilarious outfit and claims jet-lag even though she flew from New York.
  • Why does Brooke care if she goes back on drugs?  It would be grounds to end their contract. Alex’s problem, not hers.
  • Brooke’s treatment of Alex would also be grounds to end it, from Alex’s perspective.  This whole thing is just stupid.
  • Q8: You might wanna start with a little lying slut remover.–Brooke to Alex, before she gets her makeup done.
  • Fart jokes?  Seriously?  One Tree Hill, what is happening to you?
  • LOL Jamie is geared up in a helmet with huge lacrosse sticks or something.
  • Apparently Mouth put a lizard or something in the shower and that was the whole problem.  Skills is terrified.  Clever.
  • Nice allusion to Puff the Magic Dragon.
  • Why isn’t Jamie in school?  Guess it’s the weekend.
  • Julian brought coffee to the girls at the shoot.  Very sweet.
  • Quinn just called Julian and Brooke out on making out in her bed–but it wasn’t even her bed yet!
  • Alex just called Julian “hot P.A. boy” and “yummy.”  We know where this is going.
  • LOL Alex just told Brooke she’s too old for Julian.  How old is he anyway?
  • Wow. Clay has a sweet car.  Don’t even know what kind it is but it looks cool.
  • Renee will “go away” if Nate gives $200,000 to her.
  • Of course, Nate is refusing but Clay explains that it’s extortion and she’s doing it for publicity.
  • Clay suggests paying her to avoid the damage.
  • Wow, Clay just said Nathan’s next contract should be for $18-20 million.
  • But I have trouble taking Clay seriously enough.  He looks more like a young friend of Nathan’s just chatting about it, than an agent, someone in the position of authority.
  • Nathan reiterates that she’s lying.
  • Q9: So she’s lying. You know how it works, man. They print the accusation on the front page and the retraction on the back.-Clay (Not quite how it works but okay…)
  • Clay makes a fair point: you’re playing a little for a lot, and it’s something he should at least consider.
  • Clay just called Mouth “the press.”  Technically true, but weird.
  • Mouth clearly looks uncomfortable and Clay looks worried.
  • Nathan insists he just wants to talk to an old friend but asks Mouth if he’s here as a reporter or a friend.
  • Mouth says he’s  here “as a friend, off-the-record.”  I believe him, but we know he waves under pressure.
  • Nathan reveals all: girl threatening with paternity suit.  I wouldn’t have told him, and I would expect Mouth to understand why.
  • Mouth says he won’t do anything with the info.  We’ll see if and for how long this lasts.
  • Nathan tells him if it develops, to do do what he has to do.  Mouth, nicely but worriedly, says “I hope it doesn’t come to that.”
  • Funny to see Quinn doing this photoshoot. Wonder how much she had to “learn” or already knew from being in so many shoots herself.
  • Aw, Brulian does some test shots together.
  • Q10: Big hands.  He probably has a really big thingie!–Alex
  • OK, I could take this if she was 16.  But she’s not.  And I know that’s the point but I can’t stand it.
  • Millie explains that Brooke and Julian are together.
  • Q11: “I’m such a slut. Alright, bitches. ” Let’s do this.”  “I hate her.”–Alex and the make-up dude
  • She does look really good in the shoot.  Can see why she’s actually an actress and model.  And have to assume she acts well and she’s not actually like this in real-life LOL
  • Back to Dan on set, talking about the “disruption.”
  • Dan admits it was the truth–he is a murderer–but says he won’t hide from it.
  • Q12: I step into the harsh light of the truth.–Dan
  • Dan says it leads to foregveness, happiness and love–citing Rachel, who comes on stage.
  • Yes! A flashback to the night they met!
  • Dan is drinking in a strip club, where Rachel is the dancer.  The banter is very much old-school Rachel and old-school Dan.
  • Q13: Nice ass.–Dan to Rachel
  • Q14: (After sex) “Not bad for a man with a bad heart.” “Well, stay the night and we’ll see if you can kill me.”–Rachel and Dan
  • Rachel, in the flashback, says Dan being rich and dying “works” for her.  In the present, she says he had all the things she was looking for.  No shit.
  • Doesn’t explain how they got to where they are now. I’m sure we’ll get there eventually.
  • LOL Jamie tells Skills to move in with Miss Lauren
  • Jamie wants to be paid in order to get the lizard. Smart kid.
  • LOL Jamie says 10 bucks is enough for a mouse or a guinea pig, obviously not the lizard.
  • Oh, it was an iguana. I thought it would be a baby lizard, like a gecko lol
  • LOL Jamie names it Percy.
  • Alex is sneaking pills. Shocker. Wonder what they are exactly.
  • Quinn is getting calls from David but ignoring them.
  • Quinn and Brooke just opened up to each other out of nowhere.  Do they even really know each other?!  A little soon to start making them close when it’s not clear they even met in years past.
  • Haley is doing laundry at home.  Does she still not have a real job?  Guess not.
  • Nathan apologizes again, and says there is a way to make it go away. Cut to Haley yelling at Clay about the payment suggestion.
  • Haley says it’s not an option, and blames Clay for the parties and the women.
  • Q15: I know you love him. But you love having him at your side more than anything else. You could’ve protected him from this.–Haley
  • Haley points out they are both grown men.  Um, Haley, if Dan is any evidence, we know being a grown man doesn’t count for anything.
  • Haley looks a little heavier this season.  Brooke, too.  It’s nice to see.
  • How does Skills already have a tank set up for Percy?  That’s television for you…
  • Skills says she doesn’t want pressure to move in with Lauren, even though he loves her.
  • Q16: “Well, if you love her, why don’t you want to be with her?” “Dude, I brought you over here to help me catch this thing. Not to give me grief about my commitment issues.”–Jamie and Skills
  • Jamie does look bigger this season.  Mark was right.  Our little boy is growing up!
  • Clay apologizes to Haley.  Says he loves the whole family.  Cute but not quite believable yet.
  • Haley insists they’re not paying her.  No idea what I would do.
  • Clay says paying her would keep Jamie safe and Nate’s career safe.
  • Flashbacks again! Yes!
  • Q17: “What’s your story, anyway? Hang out in strip clubs waiting to die?” “Could be worse.” “Could be better.”–Rachel and Dan
  • Dan has a copy of Lucas’ novel.  Sad? Sweet?
  • Q18: “You do realize you’re the villain in this.” “The villain has power.”–Rachel and Dan
  • Rachel is apparently on page 88 and Dan has it bookmarked.  Hmm. Wonder what it says.  Wish we could actually read the book.
  • Dan has a bunch of self-help books, and Rachel calls people who read them lazy.
  • Q19: I left my mark on the world. I just can’t seem to die.  But I do know one thing. If people saw my life, they’d feel a lot better about theirs.–Dan
  • Rachel looks sympathetic but we know this leads to the book-TV show idea.
  • Rachel asks him to leave with her, saying “I need you.”  She seems genuine but seeing where they are now, how can we believe that?
  • I wonder if Nathan and co. know Dan has a TV show.  They must!  Unless all this is filming the pilot.  But they must know about the book!
  • Alex is coming on to Julian.  Shocker.
  • I like Alex/Jana’s tattoo on her upper inside arm.  It says Believe.
  • Q20: I have something you might like…P.S., you’re totally cute.–Alex
  • Why is Julian smiling?!  He better be smiling that she’s such a fool. Idiot!
  • Haley visits the set, and starts to tear up when Brooke asks how she is.  Awww.  This is the close friendship I want to see!
  • Haley is crying, telling Quinn and Brooke what is going on.  They reassure her but Alex chimes in, suggesting Nathan actually did it.
  • LOL Brooke says they need a drink.
  • Q21: Not you!  Millicent, come get her!–Brooke about Alex
  • Mouth’s boss asks about Nathan again.  Mouth says there isn’t one.  Aww.
  • They’re drinking at Tric.  Is the first Tric scene?
  • Chase isn’t bartending LOL
  • Quinn suggests doing the paternity test.
  • Haley says she believes Nathan.
  • Q22: I say you call her bluff and don’t pay the dumb bitch a dime.–Brooke
  • Haley brings up the contract issues and Jamie issue.
  • Millicent shows up but then spots Alex at the bar.  How did Brooke not notice?
  • LOL Alex tells Millicent to drink the shots instead of her.
  • LOL Millie says she’s buzzed after 2 in a row.  Pretty sure it doesn’t work that fast.
  • Brooke says the photoshoot went well.
  • Q23: “This one’s kind of good at doing her job, for being a James.”–Brooke (What’s that supposed to mean?  When wasn’t Haley good at her job?)
  • Q24: Former James.  Possibly future James.–Quinn
  • Quinn jokes about how she used to make Haley pose for her, but Haley’s clearly distracted.
  • Really not feeling Haley’s hair this season.
  • Quinn says she wants to stay and “drink about it” rather than talk about what’s going on in her head.  Not the wisest choice.
  • Skills calls Mouth and asks for a truce.  Honestly? Or does he have revenge planned?
  • Nathan and Haley watch Jamie in the pool.  I love seeing them begin a family.
  • Nathan wonders how he’s going to explain it all to Jamie.
  • Haley says he doesn’t necessarily have to.  He’s worked so hard to get where he is, so if he wants to just pay her off so it ends, she’ll be OK with that.  Nice of her to say, I suppose, but you know it will still away at her and resentment will build.
  • Clay sits next to Alex at the bar and takes her shot.  And Alex kisses him!  Clay’s first kiss on teh show!
  • Q25: “I miss that.”  “The kissing or the drinking.  “Yes!”–Alex and Clay
  • Quinn comes and sits next to Clay.
  • Q26: “You’re a piece of work.  My sister’s in tears, my brother-in-law’s unemployed and you’re sucking face with dumb girls at the bar.”  “Wow, your husband must be so happy right now.”–Quinn and Clay
  • Understand why Quinn’s upset, and that it’s not just about this, but I really did like that banter, anyway.
  • But Clay apologizes.
  • Clay is kind of pale.
  • Clay gets a call from Nate.  We don’t know what Nate says but Clay says he’ll take care of it.
  • Quinn tells him he hopes he knows what’s he doing–and Clay says he hopes he does, too.
  • Q27: I can be in your bed in 20 minutes.–Alex to Clay
  • And then she licks his neck!
  • Q28: “Really?  You’re that guy?” “I am tonight.”–Clay and Quinn
  • Not very becoming of you, Clay.  Not at all.
  • Assume Clay is going to do whatever Nate said, and not to screw Alex.  That can wait.
  • Dan apologizes to Rachel for the guy in the crowd.  And Rachel admits she hired the guy!
  • Rachel says it’s good that Dan fights back when people bring up his mistakes…and it makes for good TV!
  • Dan looks like of stunned.
  • Alex is now at Brulian’s place.
  • Alex brought Julian a script.  I’m sure she has an ulterior motive.
  • LOL Alex admitted she’s a little dumb.  Understatement of the year.
  • Q29: “I’m good.” “I bet you are.”–Julian and Alex
  • Quinn’s phone rings at Tric, and as she contemplates, there’s David behind her!
  • Didn’t know we’d actually see him. Not bad-looking LOL
  • LOL Skills is reading Xtreme Outdoor magazine and Nathan’s body spray ad is on the back
  • Q30: Well, at least you’re wearing pants.–Mouth to Skills
  • Skills says he thinks moving in with Lauren will lead to marriage.
  • And admits he’s not sure he ever wants to get married, even though he loves her.
  • Mouth tells Skills to stay as long as he wants, and goes to lay on his bed…and a snake slithers up next to him! LOL
  • Julian is reading the script.  Where’s Brooke?
  • Oh, there’s Brooke.  With Millie at the store, looking at the photos.
  • Alex does NOT look healthy.  You can see her bones!
  • Alex is sitting outside what looks to be Clay’s place.
  • Clay is meeting Renee.  He passes her an envelope, saying it’s what they are willing to pay…and the envelope is empty!
  • Q31: It’s empty because you’re a lying bitch and we’re not paying you a dime.  Go to hell.–Clay
  • Kind of want to shout ‘Go Clay!’ but that was sooo unprofessional to say and can be used against him in the future.  She’s not going anywhere.  Though she does look pissed!
  • Clay should be having an attorney do this, not himself.  You can an attorney and still keep it on the downlow.  But of course it won’t stay on the DL anymore, anyway.
  • Nathan tells Haley it didn’t go well with Renee, and Haley says it’s gonna get worse.  Nathan says he has to talk to Jamie.
  • Nate walks towards him, obviously with the intent to tell, much like the end of last week’s episode.  Lame.  I want to see the tough conversations!  They’re skipping over some of the best parts!  And Haley should be doing this with him.
  • Fade to black.
  • Did they ever address that this is a different house than last season?  Or are we supposed to think it’s the same one?  I guess it makes sense they have a bigger one now, with the millions Nate got from his first year in the NBA.
  • Preview: Fashion show, Victoria is back and doesn’t trust Alex, Jamie sees Nathan on the cover of a tabloid and asks Haley what a love child is, Quinn says she wants a divorce and tells Clay to take her to his place.

Those are my thoughts. What are yours?

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Kimmy in Seattle: I’ve read that Clay has some big secrets on One Tree Hill? Any idea what they are?
Not entirely, but it sounds like Nathan’s basketball career isn’t the only thing that brought the sports agent to Tree Hill. Superstud Robert Buckley tells us: “He has a lot of mystery in his past, and they did not waste any time introducing that. Episode seven has been my personal favorite so far…I was so completely enthralled and affected by it.” And while we’re not sure what it is, Rob says that people will be filtering in and out of the show to piece together his past life.

Exclusive: Austin Nichols Wants Brulian To Get Married!

27 09 2009

In just one season, Austin Nichols’ Julian had quite the evolution on One Tree Hill.  When he first showed up, fans worried he’d play homewrecker to Leyton’s finally-back-on relationship.  Instead we ended up with perhaps the most dedicated boyfriend Sophia Bush’s Brooke has ever seen and a new leading man for the show’s seventh season.

TeenDramaWhore: What was your reaction when you found out you were being promoted to a series regular?

Austin Nichols: Fear. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t want to do it. The thing about a television series is that you have to have faith that the material is going to be good. Because all you know is episode 1. You have no idea what episode 2-22 will contain. But after many conversations with my captain Mark Schwahn, I felt better about signing up.

TDW: Why do you think the audience has taken such a liking to Brooke and Julian?

Nichols: Because when we look at each other, volcanoes erupt, the earth quakes, and glitter falls from the sky.

TDW: I know I was particularly touched by Julian’s closeness with Sam (Ashley Rickards). Do you want to see him and Brooke have a family?

Nichols: Children!!!  Absolutely. I want a litter. A whole team of little Brookes and Julians. Twins. Black ones. White ones. Brown and yellow too.  Remember the show, JUST THE TEN OF US?  We are going to remake that show with Brooke and Julian and their 8 kids.

TDW: Is there any storyline you’d like to see Julian face?

Nichols: I would like to tackle marriage. The aforementioned children.  And I want to see Julian make a movie. I think it would be outstanding to make a short film and release it on the internet. A film by Julian Baker.  Or by Austin Nichols.

TDW: With the return of Julian’s dad [Episode 7.02, What Are You Willing To Lose], will we learn more about Julian’s past?

Nichols: Well, absolutely.  The most brilliant thing they could do when writing the third INDIANA JONES: The Last Crusade, was introduce Indy’s father. That glimpse into Indy’s past and to see how his behavior changes around his dad is revelatory. A guy who could have any woman, any artifact, and defeat any foe, becomes a little boy in the presence of Sean Connery.  Families with checkered pasts tend to spend the present repairing that damage.

TDW: What’s one thing that’s easy about working on a show like OTH and one thing that’s difficult?

Nichols: Easy: no traffic here. Hard: living without In-N-Out Burger.

TDW: You’re signed on to star in Pedestrian, which is being made by Hilarie Burton’s company, Southern Gothic Productions. What’s it like working with her in a non-OTH capacity?

Nichols: PEDESTRIAN is a great script. And Lincoln Booth is one of those characters that doesn’t come around all that often. Working with Hilarie is a piece of cake. She is sharp and quick and a great leader.

TDW: Tell me more about your character, Lincoln Booth. What attracted you to the role?

Nichols: I can’t really say anything about my character except that something deep inside me started to rumble when I read him. This is either a really good sign or a disaster. We shall see!!!!  🙂

TDW: You have a creative writing degree and were an avid water-skier growing up. Are these two things still a part of your life?

Nichols: I am constantly writing. Some ideas soar. And others crash. Right now, it’s a story of a young woman who finds herself pregnant with no money and no one to depend on. She moves out to the desert to start over. I occasionally jump on some skis and do a few flips. Don’t want to forget how.  But my mom [Kay Nichols] just won her 15th national title, after beating cancer a few years back.

TDW: You also have a big interest in film.  What’s one mainstream movie and one lesser-known movie you’ve seen recently?

Nichols: 500 Days of Summer is very creative. Right up my alley. Also, in the video store scene, they placed one of my DVDs right in the middle of the two actors. I was delighted. Haha!!  Humpday was very interesting. Anvil! The Story Of Anvil is a brilliant rock doc.   I enjoyed many parts of Inglourius Basterds. Christopher Waltz should have statues built in tribute to his performance.

TDW: Have you thought about getting an official Twitter account?

Nichols: Twitter?  What’s twitter?    Sounds like a term for a titty twister. 🙂

Be sure to come back next Sunday for another exclusive interview, this time in honor of Beverly Hills 90210’s 19th anniversary.
