Spoiler: Watch With Kristin

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Scott in Detroit, Mich.: I totally remember Joe Manganiello, True Blood‘s Alcide, as Brad on How I Met Your Mother! Any chance he’ll make another appearance on the show?
Ew. That flabby schlub? “I would bet money that Brad will be back.” That’s what the ridonkulously hot man himself told us. So what exactly has Brad been up to since we last saw him in the season five premiere? “He revealed he may be a hermaphrodite ’cause he tells Robin, ‘I’m a little different down there,’ So maybe deeper into the mystery of what Brad is,” Joe suggested. “We need to figure out what Brad is. We’re figuring out who the mother is and what exactly Brad is. It’s kind of the b-plot of the show, ‘What is Brad?'” B-plot?! Psh, we’re promoting the Brad mystery to the A-plot. Sorry Ted’s baby mama, we’ve had enough of your drama.

Steph in Austin, TX: Kristin, there’s a rumor that Chuck tries to rape and beat Blair. Can you clear that up for me because if this happens, [Gossip Girl] can shove this show where the sun doesn’t shine. Thanks!
Per my rock-solid source: “LOL. Not true in the least.” So no one needs to shove anything anywhere uncomfortable. Phew!

Sarah in Massapequa, N.Y.: Am I the only person sensing some romantic tension between Aria’s dad Byron (Chad Lowe) and Hanna’s mom Ashley (Laura Leighton) on Pretty Little Liars?
Trust us, you are definitely not the only one catching the pair’s meaningful stares and ever-growing connection, but there might be someone standing in their way when this guiltiest of guilty pleasures returns, and that someone ain’t his estranged wife, Ella (Holly Marie Combs). We caught up with Amanda Schull, aka Byron’s former mistress Meredith, who tells us fans will be seeing more of her in the second half of the season: “As far as I know I will be [back]. I don’t know the details of that but I know that the story line, especially the story lines in the book say I will be.” Well, according to the books she’s around for a (pregnant pause)… long time. Oops, was that too obvious?

Monica: Hi! Any scoop on 90210?
Michael Steger tells us: “I show up in a Ferrari, I got rid of the Lamborghini, so I am driving a new car to school on the first day.” Jessica Lowndes: “My new character is no longer in high school, she’s touring and singing, so there’s a lot more music, which has been a lot of fun.” And Matt Lanter: “There’s always drama, love triangles, I’ve got a half-brother coming in. There’s a big earthquake that happens in episode one, so it kind of affects everybody, it’s kind of fun.” By the way, Matt stars as the Robert Pattison in the new spoof movie Vampires Suck and jokes about his anticipated reaction from Twilight fans: “I got a couple extra deadbolts on my door just as a precaution, but so far, I haven’t needed ’em.”

Notes:

Manganiello played Owen on One Tree Hill.

Leighton played Sophie on Beverly Hills 90210. Schull plays Sara/Katie on One Tree Hill. And Lowe used to be married to Hilary Swank (Carly, Beverly Hills 90210), while Holly Marie Combs starred with Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210) on Charmed.

(There are many more connections at play here when you consider the casts of HIMYM, True Blood and PLL, but let’s save it for Six Degrees of Teen Dramas.)

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Is Rob Estes leaving 90210? — Barbara
MICKEY: Yes. As has been previously reported, neither he nor Jennie Garth will be back next season. It’s no secret that the new showrunners have officially shut down Operation Nostalgia. Shannen Doherty tells us that plans for Brenda to return have been scrapped, and don’t expect Donna to ever drop in from Tokyo again — with or without David.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, The O.C. and Gossip Girl

26 05 2010
  • I am deeply saddened to report that Disney has decided to cease operations of SoapNet beginning in 2012. The network is being replaced with Disney Junior. As you are all aware, SoapNet currently airs reruns of One Tree Hill, Beverly Hills 90210 and The O.C. I do not know what this means for the syndication deals currently in place for those shows. Quite frankly, I am still trying to process this development. In the meantime, I have four things to offer: the press release from Disney, a post from SoapNet and articles from the New York Times and Entertainment Weekly, the latter of which makes some very interesting points. Thank you to Daniel and Gloria for alerting me to the news.
  • In the last Weekly Poll, all three questions had results with large margins. Sixty-three percent believe Quinn and Clay aren’t dead on One Tree Hill, though 5 percent believe it’s quite possible. Another 17 percent have no idea but hope not while 15 percent have no idea but hope so. The Jenny-Chuck storyline on Gossip Girl made 64 percent of voters feel disgusted while just 17 percent were entertained. Nine percent were torn while 10 percent are still trying to process it. Lastly, 71 percent believe 90210’s Naomi was about to be raped by Mr. Cannon. Nineteen percent don’t think that’s happened while 10 percent had no idea. The Weekly Poll will be on hiatus during, um, the hiatus. In the meantime, we have the show evaluations and soon I’ll be resuming weekly trivia on Twitter.
  • Korbi has the next part of her interview with Mark Schwahn (creator, One Tree Hill). Here he discusses whether he wants the show to continue past an eighth season.
  • Registration has opened for Christy-Anne’s second One Tree Hill fan reunion, which will be held this July.
  • Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210) performed during last night’s Dancing With The Stars finale. I haven’t found YouTube video of it yet to link to.
  • Gossip Cop and I busted a false National Enquirer story about Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) and Megan Fox.
  • The Huffington Post has an interesting interview with the band Rooney, and there’s some references to their appearance on The O.C.
  • Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) will produce the film Fun Size with their new company Fake Empire.
  • ESPN has a short interview with Ron Machado, who appears with Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) in her Vogue spread.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and More

4 05 2010
  • Last night’s One Tree Hill (1.9 million viewers) and Gossip Girl (1.7 million viewers) both had drops in the ratings compared to last week. OTH’s was tiny, though.
  • Zap2it did a nice roundup of the tweets Robert Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill) sent last night.
  • Zap2it also has a “first look” at two of The CW’s pilots, including Nomads, which stars Michaela McManus (Lindsey, One Tree Hill) but they don’t have photos with her.
  • Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl), Leighton Meester (Blair, Gossip Girl), Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl), Kristen Bell (Gossip Girl, Gossip Girl), Rachel Bilson (Summer, The O.C.), Penn Badgley (Dan, Gossip Girl), Sebastian Stan (Carter, Gossip Girl) and Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson’s Creek) were among the attendees at last night’s annual MET Costume Gala. There may have been others from the teen dramas but those are the ones I know of.
  • Nicole Fiscella (Isabel, Gossip Girl) will give the commencement speech at the University of Bridgeport.
  • OnTheRedCarpet.com has short, spoilish video interviews with Taylor Momsen (Jenny, Gossip Girl) and Jessica Lowndes (Adrianna, 90210).
  • TVGuideMagazine.com also has a short but spoilish interview with Lowndes.
  • Examiner.com has a spoilish interview with Ryan Eggold (Ryan, 90210).
  • Jessica Walter (Tabitha, 90210) will appear on Make It Or Break It, which Paul Stupin (executive producer, Dawson’s Creek) EPs.
  • Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210) tweeted that she is supposed to be on the Dancing With the Stars season finale.

Happy Birthday Shannen Doherty!

12 04 2010

Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210) turns 39 today.

Though her participation on Dancing With The Stars was short-lived, I loved this performance and think we should celebrate her birthday by watching it again.

  • Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210) is supporting PETA’s protest of companies that support Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey.
  • Parade.com has an interview with Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson’s Creek). A few interesting things in there.
  • I have the vague feeling I posted this before but a stronger feeling that I have it. At any rate, I (potentially re-)stumbled across this very sweet short film starring Tate Donovan (Jimmy, The O.C.).
