News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl and More

27 08 2010
  • The Real One Tree Hill Twitter account tweeted a very brief video with Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill).
  • Like Nichols did for his character, Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) has started a Twitter account for hers, under the name @BDavis_Baker.
  • TVGuide.com has a brief video interview with Joe Manganiello (Owen, One Tree Hill).
  • Shenae Grimes (Annie, 90210) tweeted she has a cameo in Scream 4, which also features Adam Brody (Seth, The O.C.) and Kristen Bell (Gossip Girl, Gossip Girl), and an article in the new issue of Nylon, the one that features Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl) on the cover.
  • ABC has ordered a pilot from Fake Empire, which is run by Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.). The show, which Schwartz and Savage will produce, sounds awfully like the failed CW pilot Body Politic, which starred Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • Gossip Cop busted a fabricated Perez Hilton story about Rachel Bilson (Summer, The O.C.) supposedly dating Jake Gyllenhaal.
  • Jackson Rathbone (Justin, The O.C.) has been cast in No Ordinary Family, which stars Autumn Reeser (Taylor, The O.C.) and is executive produced by Greg Berlanti (writer-producer, Dawson’s Creek).
  • Busy Philipps (Audrey, Dawson’s Creek) won Best Supporting Actress In A Comedy in EW.com’s EWwy Awards.
  • The Star has an interview with Nina Repeta (Bessie, Dawson’s Creek).

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl and More

26 08 2010
  • The Real One Tree Hill Twitter account tweeted a very brief video with Lee Norris (Mouth, One Tree Hill).
  • Examiner.com has an interview with Amanda Schull (Sara/Katie, One Tree Hill). She made some interesting comments when discussing a possible return to OTH.
  • A pretty big picture of Joe Manganiello (Owen, One Tree Hill) is on the cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly. That’s a huge achievement. Congrats to Joe!
  • Jana Kramer (Alex, One Tree Hill) has officially filed for divorce. She and Johnathon Schaech split a few weeks ago.
  • Takers, which briefly features Trevor Donovan (Teddy, 90210), stars Chris Brown (Will, The O.C.), and also happens to star Schaech and Rachel Bilson’s (Summer, The O.C.) ex Hayden Christensen, opens in theaters tomorrow.
  • 90210 and Dawson’s Creek are included in The Daily Beast’s look at “racy TV show scenes.” It’s sad, though, how respectable DC’s is and how much 90210’s isn’t. That can be applied to the series as a whole, too, in my opinion.
  • Kristin has an “exclusive sneak peek” at 90210’s new season. Looks like some new characters we haven’t heard about may be introduced.
  • Earlier this month CBS announced a new channel in India, which would air 90210, and now it’s been announced a new channel will also air the show in Australia.
  • Gossip Cop busted a false Star story about Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • Taylor Momsen and her band The Pretty Reckless were on the Late Show With David Letterman last night.
  • Fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone is reportedly working with Fake Empire, which is run by Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.), on a new fashion-based series.
  • OK! Magazine has a fall fashion feature with Autumn Reeser (Taylor, The O.C.).

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210 and More

12 08 2010
  • Kristin tweeted that Gossip Girl’s Chuck and Blair are not the subject of her wedding spoiler.
  • Josh Schwartz (executive producer, The O.C.) had tweeted this morning that there is “no truth” to the rumor that Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) has asked to have her character killed so she could leave the show BUT several hours later I saw that the tweet was deleted. When I checked with The CW earlier this week about this rumor, they issued a “no comment.” Interpret as you wish.
  • Penn Badgley (Dan, Gossip Girl) will present at the MTV Video Music Awards next month.
  • Badgley did a feature for the launch issue of Bullet magazine, but I don’t believe it’s out yet. There’s a behind-the-scenes video where he talks about the photo shoot and shows off some of his pian0-playing and singing skills.
  • Luke Kleintank (Elliott, Gossip Girl) has been cast on The Young And The Restless.
  • Star News came up with an interesting list of 5 crossover ideas for One Tree Hill.
  • JustJared claims Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) and Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill) will present the Breakthrough in Green Innovation award to Global Green at the Breakthrough of the Year Awards this weekend. He apparently previously reported that Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl) will get the Breakthrough Actress in Film award while AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi, 90210) will get the Breakthrough Standout Performance award.
  • Trevor Donovan (Teddy, 90210) tweeted that he will be part of the city of Beverly Hills’ 9.02.10 Day celebrations, and he’s hosting a contest related to it.
  • SoapNet will have a Beverly Hills 90210 “Labor Of Love” marathon on Labor Day with Kelly-Dylan season 3 episodes. I could not be any happier. (Well, I’d be happier it if it was a super-long marathon about their whole relationship over the 10 seasons but…this…is…awesome!)
  • EW.com has a “first look” at Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) on Desperate Housewives.
  • The Associated Press has an article about Vanessa Marcil (Gina, Beverly Hills 90210) returning to General Hospital.
  • According to TVGuide.com, Shailene Woodley (Kaitlin, The O.C.) makes $40,000 per an episode for The Secret Life Of The American Teenager, while one-time Beverly Hills 90210 guest star Ashley Tisdale will be making $30,000 an episode for The CW’s Hellcats.
  • Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan, The O.C.) will be performing in The Glass Menagerie in California from September 1 to October 17.
  • Gossip Cop and I busted a false National Enquirer story claiming Katie Holmes (Joey, Dawson’s Creek) and husband Tom Cruise are feuding over a smoking addiction.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl and More

11 08 2010
  • Edwin Hodge has been cast on One Tree Hill. Spoilers involved, so consider this your fair warning.
  • The One Tree Hill Connection podcast has a brief interview with Steve Goldfried (co-producer, One Tree Hill) about the sticker contest.

  • PopStar has an interview with Matt Lanter (Liam, 90210).
  • Shenae Grimes (Annie, 90210) directed a music video for a song she wrote and sings called “Myself And I.” Ryan Eggold (Ryan, 90210) stars in the video, which oddly isn’t mentioned in the article, and also worked on the song.
  • PEOPLE.com has suggested Ian Ziering (Steve, Beverly Hills 90210), among others, to play Steven Slater if a movie is made about the Jet Blue pilot who made a dramatic plane exit earlier this week.
  • We Love Soaps has an interview with Vanessa Marcil (Gina, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • Blair (Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl) and Chuck (Ed Westwick, Gossip Girl) may be the subject of this Kristin marriage spoiler. (Yes, One Tree Hill’s Brulian is also pictured, but they don’t fit the criteria since they are already engaged.)
  • Parade.com has a great interview with Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl), where she confirms what I’ve said all along: she is not on Twitter!
  • Szohr is unfairly getting heat for supposedly blowing off a Lollapalooza event while on an all-expenses paid trip. Gossip Cop and I obtained the trip invitation that proves her innocence.
  • Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) may star in the film Gravity.
  • Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.), Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) and their company Fake Empire may be involved in the film adaptation of Au Voir, Crazy European Chick.
  • Brett Harrison (Danny, The O.C.) will have a recurring role on V.
  • The new issue of Life & Style has a feature on James Van Der Beek’s (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) wedding.

Spoiler: Ask Ausiello

5 08 2010

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Question: Any more Gossip Girl scoops? I’m dying here! —Jessica
Ausiello:
The bitch is back and more powerful than ever. “Blair at NYU was like throwing a fish far, far out of water,” says exec producer Josh Schwartz. “I think [this season] you’ll see Blair with her power back, with her swagger back, back in her game, but still troubled by thoughts of Mr. Bass. The Chuck/Blair relationship—whether they’re together or not—will always be a huge drive to the show emotionally.”

Question: Any juicy and/or shocking news about the new season of Desperate Housewives? —Arno
Ausiello:
Stop me if you’ve heard this one: More than one cougar will be preying on Brian Austin Green’s handyman character. I’m told both Bree (Marcia Cross) and Renee (Vanessa Williams) will sink their claws into the artist formerly known as David Silver this fall.

Credit: EW.com

Note:

Green, of course, played David on Beverly Hills 90210. Coincidentally, Cross was on Melrose Place, a BH90210 spin-off that Green also appeared on (as David).

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and More

29 07 2010
  • The CW had an event today, similar to the upfront, for the TCA (Television Critics Association), a somewhat-selective organization of television journalists. CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff spoke and took questions before separate panels for Nikita, Hellcats and Gossip Girl.
  • The Futon Critic is reporting that Ostroff confirmed One Tree Hill has been given a full-season order for the upcoming season, but, as of this moment, I am not seeing other outlets reporting that.
  • Ostroff told Star News last night that OTH could be renewed after season 8, which Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) thinks is “fishy.” Today Ostroff said that it was too soon to discuss whether this is the final season.
  • Ostroff also said there WASN’T an alternate ending for OTH last season, in case the show wasn’t renewed. (Something I maintained all along, if you recall.)
  • Ostroff reiterated that the morning-after Nielsen ratings are not the only factor that is important to them when evaluating a show’s success (hence the renewals of Gossip Girl, 90210, etc.). TVByTheNumbers.com has an interesting piece reacting to this.
  • For more on the session with Ostroff, check out these live-blogs and recaps.
  • The Gossip Girl panel featured Ed Westwick (Chuck), Josh Schwartz (executive producer), Stephanie Savage (executive producer) and Joshua Safran (executive producer).
  • A preview of season 4 was shown and some spoilers were divulged. Taylor Momsen (Jenny) will be back (something else I’ve maintained all along), and the producers admitted that they have an idea of how the show will eventually end but said it’s a long time off.
  • For more on the Gossip Girl panel, check out these live-blogs and recaps. (Warning: spoilers included.)
  • Korbi has a spoiler-filled Q & A with Schwartz and Savage.
  • Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl) was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night.
  • Crawford spoke with MTV about Juliet (Katie Cassidy, Gossip Girl) and GG shooting in Paris, which he did not partake in.
  • AfterElton spoke with Trevor Donovan (Teddy, 90210), Michael Steger (Navid, 90210) and Matt Lanter (Liam, 90210) individually about the possibility that one of their characters will be the one that comes out this season. Interestingly enough, they each give contradictory stories on how everyone found out about the storyline.
  • Crushable’s interview with Lanter on the same topic is a bit contradictory, too, as he says he knows which character it is, but the above interviews seem to suggest they don’t know who it is, if I’m reading this all correctly. Oh, and there’s totally Lannie spoilers in that interview.
  • AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi, 90210) spoke to Us Weekly about Kim and Khloe Kardashian’s guest appearance.
  • Jessica Stroup (Silver, 90210) performed a powerful monologue by Eve Ensler for MTV.
  • Rachel Bilson (Summer, The O.C.) will reprise her How I Met Your Mother role.
  • Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson’s Creek) hilariously spoke with MTV about Pacey-Con. LOL at the Jen-Con comment. I’m sure the reunion thing, though, will end up being blown way out of proportion by the media.

News Roundup: 90210, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and More

  • E! Online briefly spoke with Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) and Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill) about their recent trip to the Gulf.
  • Bush also spoke to OnTheRedCarpet.com about being eco-friendly.
  • Joe Manganiello (Owen, One Tree Hill), Josh Schwartz (creator, Gossip Girl; The O.C.), Paul Wesley (Donnie, The O.C.), Kevin Williamson (creator, Dawson’s Creek), Greg Berlanti (writer-producer, Dawson’s Creek) and Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson’s Creek) will all be at Comic-Con later this month.
  • Kelly Rutherford’s (Lily, Gossip Girl) divorce is final.
  • SoapNet will be re-airing The O.C. from the beginning starting Monday at 1pm.
  • Autumn Reeser (Taylor, The O.C.) returns to Entourage beginning tomorrow night.
  • Rizzoli & Isles, starring Sasha Alexander (Gretchen, Dawson’s Creek) and Jordan Bridges (Oliver, Dawson’s Creek), premieres Monday on TNT.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, The O.C. and Gossip Girl

26 05 2010
  • I am deeply saddened to report that Disney has decided to cease operations of SoapNet beginning in 2012. The network is being replaced with Disney Junior. As you are all aware, SoapNet currently airs reruns of One Tree Hill, Beverly Hills 90210 and The O.C. I do not know what this means for the syndication deals currently in place for those shows. Quite frankly, I am still trying to process this development. In the meantime, I have four things to offer: the press release from Disney, a post from SoapNet and articles from the New York Times and Entertainment Weekly, the latter of which makes some very interesting points. Thank you to Daniel and Gloria for alerting me to the news.
  • In the last Weekly Poll, all three questions had results with large margins. Sixty-three percent believe Quinn and Clay aren’t dead on One Tree Hill, though 5 percent believe it’s quite possible. Another 17 percent have no idea but hope not while 15 percent have no idea but hope so. The Jenny-Chuck storyline on Gossip Girl made 64 percent of voters feel disgusted while just 17 percent were entertained. Nine percent were torn while 10 percent are still trying to process it. Lastly, 71 percent believe 90210’s Naomi was about to be raped by Mr. Cannon. Nineteen percent don’t think that’s happened while 10 percent had no idea. The Weekly Poll will be on hiatus during, um, the hiatus. In the meantime, we have the show evaluations and soon I’ll be resuming weekly trivia on Twitter.
  • Korbi has the next part of her interview with Mark Schwahn (creator, One Tree Hill). Here he discusses whether he wants the show to continue past an eighth season.
  • Registration has opened for Christy-Anne’s second One Tree Hill fan reunion, which will be held this July.
  • Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210) performed during last night’s Dancing With The Stars finale. I haven’t found YouTube video of it yet to link to.
  • Gossip Cop and I busted a false National Enquirer story about Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) and Megan Fox.
  • The Huffington Post has an interesting interview with the band Rooney, and there’s some references to their appearance on The O.C.
  • Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) will produce the film Fun Size with their new company Fake Empire.
  • ESPN has a short interview with Ron Machado, who appears with Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) in her Vogue spread.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and The O.C.

18 05 2010
  • In case you missed it earlier, The CW renewed One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected. They also picked up Nikita and Hellcats, and canceled Melrose Place.
  • Broadcasting & Cable has a short but interesting piece looking at the state of The CW network.
  • According to Star News, 13 episodes of One Tree Hill have been ordered. Haven’t seen that confirmed anywhere else.
  • Last night’s One Tree Hill (2 million viewers) dropped slightly and Gossip Girl (2 million viewers rounded up) rose a bit in the ratings compared to last week.
  • I have mixed thoughts on The TV Addict’s “open letter” to Mark Schwahn (creator, One Tree Hill). Most of it is irrelevant now, since OTH was renewed.
  • Korbi has an article speculating on whether Clay (Robert Buckley, One Tree Hill) and Quinn (Shantel Van Santen, One Tree Hill) survive the finale’s shooting…which to my knowledge, they do. And it’s not a true spoiler. I mean, I’m pretty positive the actors have contracts for season 8…
  • Now that season 8 is a go, Christy-Anne will be hosting another fan reunion, this time in the summer.
  • Buckley shared some of his favorite scenes in an interview with MTV.
  • TVGuide.com has a look at some of “One Tree Hill’s Craziest Moments.”
  • Miami Medical, featuring Elisabeth Harnois (Shelly, One Tree Hill) was canceled.
  • E! Online has an interesting interview with Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl) and Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl) about last night’s finale.
  • Just read an interesting article on the effect of Bing’s product placement on Gossip Girl.
  • Gossip Cop busted a rumor about Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) bumping Kristen Stewart from the June cover of Vogue.
  • The Los Angeles Times has an awesome interview with Shenae Grimes (Annie, 90210), and they link to my Zachary Ray Sherman (Jasper) interview! Warning, though: both interviews have spoilers if you haven’t watched tonight’s ep yet.
  • The CW Source has a very short video interview with Michael Steger (Navid, 90210). I didn’t watch it but it’s likely spoilish if you haven’t seen tonight’s ep.
  • Gossip Cop has an article on the reconciliation between Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) and mom Candy Spelling.
  • Emma Caulfield (Susan, Beverly Hills 90210) is getting divorced.
  • Olivia Wilde (Alex, The O.C.) will be missing an unspecified number of House episodes next season so she can film Cowboys and Aliens.
  • The Good Guys, starring Colin Hanks (Grady, The O.C.), premieres on FOX tomorrow night.

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, 90210, One Tree Hill and More

13 05 2010
  • Ad Age has an interesting article on how Gossip Girl actually is successful, but the Nielsen ratings don’t show it. It is based on a study by Optimedia, which created “Content Power Ratings.” The Nielsens rank Gossip Girl as the 125th most popular show but Optmedia argues it should be 14th based on all the ways it engages an audience (as opposed to just through watching TV).
  • Chuck, executive produced by Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) was renewed by NBC.
  • Beverly Hills 90210 will start from the beginning on SoapNet tomorrow. With the recent scheduling changes, the episodes will air at 11am and noon and then repeat at 4 and 5pm.
  • The new issue of Us Weekly has an interview with Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) and hubby Dean McDermott on their vow renewal, plus lots of pictures, including one of Tori with brother Randy Spelling (Ryan, Beverly Hills 90210) and mother Candy Spelling (wife of Aaron, executive producer, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • The New York Times has an interview with Kellan Lutz (George, 90210) about his work with Calvin Klein.
  • Ausiello says “The CW is said to be strongly considering renewing both One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected for 12 episodes apiece.” But he has a very important disclaimer at the top: “The below info is purely speculative and should by no means be taken as gospel.”
  • There’s a feature on Jana Kramer (Alex, One Tree Hill) in the June issue of Maxim. Warning: NSFW!
  • TodayOnline.com has an interview with Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson’s Creek) and some others, mostly about Fringe.
  • Carolyn Hennesy (Mrs. Valentine, Dawson’s Creek) received a Daytime Emmy nomination for her work on Days Of Our Lives General Hospital.
