News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl and More

27 08 2010
  • The Real One Tree Hill Twitter account tweeted a very brief video with Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill).
  • Like Nichols did for his character, Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) has started a Twitter account for hers, under the name @BDavis_Baker.
  • TVGuide.com has a brief video interview with Joe Manganiello (Owen, One Tree Hill).
  • Shenae Grimes (Annie, 90210) tweeted she has a cameo in Scream 4, which also features Adam Brody (Seth, The O.C.) and Kristen Bell (Gossip Girl, Gossip Girl), and an article in the new issue of Nylon, the one that features Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl) on the cover.
  • ABC has ordered a pilot from Fake Empire, which is run by Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.). The show, which Schwartz and Savage will produce, sounds awfully like the failed CW pilot Body Politic, which starred Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • Gossip Cop busted a fabricated Perez Hilton story about Rachel Bilson (Summer, The O.C.) supposedly dating Jake Gyllenhaal.
  • Jackson Rathbone (Justin, The O.C.) has been cast in No Ordinary Family, which stars Autumn Reeser (Taylor, The O.C.) and is executive produced by Greg Berlanti (writer-producer, Dawson’s Creek).
  • Busy Philipps (Audrey, Dawson’s Creek) won Best Supporting Actress In A Comedy in EW.com’s EWwy Awards.
  • The Star has an interview with Nina Repeta (Bessie, Dawson’s Creek).

  • Beginning July 28 (but really August 2), 90210, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill will air according to their fall schedule timeslots: 90210 and Gossip Girl at 8 and 9 on Mondays and One Tree Hill at 8 on Tuesdays.
  • Korbi debated whether the season 1 or season 2 finale of 90210 was better.
  • The L.A. Times has an interview with Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210), with a pretty interesting BH90210-related poll at the end.
  • The CW is doing its first-ever Emmy campaign and including Gossip Girl for the Academy to consider.
  • Bree Williamson (Brandeis, Gossip Girl) and Robert Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill) are among a group of celebs that filmed anti-puppy mill messages.

  • An episode of The O.C . is reportedly featured in the new film Marmaduke, which opened today.
  • As you may have heard, Rue McClanahan of the Golden Girls died today. I tweeted this morning that Summer (Rachel Bilson, The O.C.) and Anna (Samaire Armstrong, The O.C.) would be devastated. A few hours later, Zap2it posted the key clip.
  • Tate Donovan (Jimmy, The O.C.) is no longer starring in No Ordinary Family, which stars Autumn Reeser (Taylor, The O.C.) and is executive produced by Greg Berlanti (writer-producer, Dawson’s Creek), but he might appear at some point as a guest star.

Spoiler: Ask Ausiello

11 03 2010

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Question: Is Gossip Girl ever going to revisit Blair’s eating disorder? —Lauren
Ausiello:
Yes, but if you blink you’ll likely miss it. Exec producer Stephanie Savage tells me that there’s a “moment” coming up that touches on B’s struggle with bulimia. “It’s very subtle,” she quickly adds. “But for people who are looking for it, they will find it.”

Question: What can you tell me about the Carter’s return on Gossip Girl? —Lucia
Ausiello:
It’s tied to the arrival of Serena’s father (Billy Baldwin).

Question: Anything on Entourage? —Jimmy
Ausiello:
Autumn Reeser’s returning! The O.C. triple threat (gorgeous, talented, loves me) just signed on to reprise her role as junior agent Lizzie Grant for a handful of episodes in season 7. And next week she starts work on the Greg Berlanti-produced ABC pilot No Ordinary Family. Someone’s in demand!

Question: I know you hate One Tree Hill, but do you have any scoop on what’s coming up. —Jessica
Ausiello:
The season finale is currently being shot on location in Utah. And if you have to ask why, you obviously haven’t been watching this season. In related news, can someone please tell me why they’re shooting on location in Utah?

  • The CW has ordered another pilot, in addition to the five shows previously announced.
  • Monday’s One Tree Hill (1.9 million rounded up) dropped a decent amount in the ratings compared to last week. This is a season- and (I believe) series-low.
  • Variety says One Tree Hill has a “better-than-50/50 shot at returning.”
  • InStyle has a short article on Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) at New York Fashion Week.
  • Due to scheduling issues, Jana Kramer (Alex, One Tree Hill) and Robert Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill) will no longer be participating in the Wilmington police fundraiser this weekend. Instead, James Lafferty (Nathan, One Tree Hill) and Mitch Ryan (Alexander, One Tree Hill) will and possibly others.
  • Blood Done Sign My Name, a movie Lee Norris (Mouth, One Tree Hill) first told me about in August, starring him, Cullen Moss (Junk, One Tree Hill), Michael May (Chuck, One Tree Hill) and Susan Walters (Principal Rimkus), opens in theaters Friday. Star News has a review of the film.
  • The CW sent out a YouTube interview with 90210’s costume designer, Frank Helmer.
  • The contenders for the TV’s Top Couples tournament have officially been announced. They include: David/Donna (Beverly Hills 90210), Dylan/Brenda (Beverly Hills 90210), Chuck/Blair (Gossip Girl),Nate/Blair (Gossip Girl) and Ryan/Marissa (The O.C.).
  • Alexandra Patsavas (music supervisor, Gossip Girl & The O.C.) is among BuddyTV’s picks to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol.
  • I’ve never listened to This American Life before but I stumbled across an edition that had a segment about The O.C. that I really enjoyed. It starts around the 30-minute mark.
  • Autumn Reeser (Taylor, The O.C.), who appeared on tonight’s episode of Human Target, has been cast in No Ordinary Family, which is being executive produced by Greg Berlanti (writer-producer, Dawson’s Creek).
  • LOLing at this Blair Waldorf comparison to Suri Cruise, especially since Suri is the daughter of Katie Holmes (Joey, Dawson’s Creek).
  • Holmes is included in an E! Online photogallery of stars at 18 years old.
