Happy Birthday Blake Lively and Rachel Bilson!

25 08 2010

Another double teen drama birthday!

Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) turns 23 today.

Check out this fan-made “happy birthday” video.

And Rachel Bilson (Summer, The O.C.) turns 29.

This set of scenes, where Summer grieves Marissa’s death, I think are some of Bilson’s best from the series.

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, 90210, and One Tree Hill

18 08 2010
  • The CW will have a fall preview at the Paley Center in Los Angeles on September 15, featuring a “premiere screening of a CW returning favorite” but it likely won’t be Gossip Girl, 90210 or One Tree Hill since they will all have premiered earlier that week.
  • Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) is on the cover of Interview’s September issue. The interview, conducted by her The Town co-star and director, Ben Affleck, is really great.
  • Hilary Duff (Olivia, Gossip Girl) is on the cover of OK! Magazine, giving the tab an exclusive about her recent wedding.
  • 90210 will soon air in India on the new Big CBS network. CBS Television Studios produces 90210, and the CBS Corporation owns 50 percent of The CW.
  • PopWrap has a spoiler-filled interview with Matt Lanter (Liam, 90210). One immediate thought (and I’ll admit I’m unfairly judging without seeing the episodes and just relying on what he said): I don’t know what this show has against continuity.
  • TVGuide.com reports that Michael Trucco (Cooper, One Tree Hill) could make another appearance on V.
  • Emmanuelle Vaugier (Nicki, One Tree Hill) is not on Twitter after all. A Covert Affairs associate producer has tweeted an apology for saying it is her when it is actually an impersonator. Uncool.

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210 and More

12 08 2010
  • Kristin tweeted that Gossip Girl’s Chuck and Blair are not the subject of her wedding spoiler.
  • Josh Schwartz (executive producer, The O.C.) had tweeted this morning that there is “no truth” to the rumor that Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) has asked to have her character killed so she could leave the show BUT several hours later I saw that the tweet was deleted. When I checked with The CW earlier this week about this rumor, they issued a “no comment.” Interpret as you wish.
  • Penn Badgley (Dan, Gossip Girl) will present at the MTV Video Music Awards next month.
  • Badgley did a feature for the launch issue of Bullet magazine, but I don’t believe it’s out yet. There’s a behind-the-scenes video where he talks about the photo shoot and shows off some of his pian0-playing and singing skills.
  • Luke Kleintank (Elliott, Gossip Girl) has been cast on The Young And The Restless.
  • Star News came up with an interesting list of 5 crossover ideas for One Tree Hill.
  • JustJared claims Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) and Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill) will present the Breakthrough in Green Innovation award to Global Green at the Breakthrough of the Year Awards this weekend. He apparently previously reported that Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl) will get the Breakthrough Actress in Film award while AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi, 90210) will get the Breakthrough Standout Performance award.
  • Trevor Donovan (Teddy, 90210) tweeted that he will be part of the city of Beverly Hills’ 9.02.10 Day celebrations, and he’s hosting a contest related to it.
  • SoapNet will have a Beverly Hills 90210 “Labor Of Love” marathon on Labor Day with Kelly-Dylan season 3 episodes. I could not be any happier. (Well, I’d be happier it if it was a super-long marathon about their whole relationship over the 10 seasons but…this…is…awesome!)
  • EW.com has a “first look” at Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) on Desperate Housewives.
  • The Associated Press has an article about Vanessa Marcil (Gina, Beverly Hills 90210) returning to General Hospital.
  • According to TVGuide.com, Shailene Woodley (Kaitlin, The O.C.) makes $40,000 per an episode for The Secret Life Of The American Teenager, while one-time Beverly Hills 90210 guest star Ashley Tisdale will be making $30,000 an episode for The CW’s Hellcats.
  • Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan, The O.C.) will be performing in The Glass Menagerie in California from September 1 to October 17.
  • Gossip Cop and I busted a false National Enquirer story claiming Katie Holmes (Joey, Dawson’s Creek) and husband Tom Cruise are feuding over a smoking addiction.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl and More

11 08 2010
  • Edwin Hodge has been cast on One Tree Hill. Spoilers involved, so consider this your fair warning.
  • The One Tree Hill Connection podcast has a brief interview with Steve Goldfried (co-producer, One Tree Hill) about the sticker contest.
  • PopWrap has an interview with Amanda Schull (Sara/Katie, One Tree Hill).
  • PopStar has an interview with Matt Lanter (Liam, 90210).
  • Shenae Grimes (Annie, 90210) directed a music video for a song she wrote and sings called “Myself And I.” Ryan Eggold (Ryan, 90210) stars in the video, which oddly isn’t mentioned in the article, and also worked on the song.
  • PEOPLE.com has suggested Ian Ziering (Steve, Beverly Hills 90210), among others, to play Steven Slater if a movie is made about the Jet Blue pilot who made a dramatic plane exit earlier this week.
  • We Love Soaps has an interview with Vanessa Marcil (Gina, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • Blair (Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl) and Chuck (Ed Westwick, Gossip Girl) may be the subject of this Kristin marriage spoiler. (Yes, One Tree Hill’s Brulian is also pictured, but they don’t fit the criteria since they are already engaged.)
  • Parade.com has a great interview with Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl), where she confirms what I’ve said all along: she is not on Twitter!
  • Szohr is unfairly getting heat for supposedly blowing off a Lollapalooza event while on an all-expenses paid trip. Gossip Cop and I obtained the trip invitation that proves her innocence.
  • Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) may star in the film Gravity.
  • Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.), Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) and their company Fake Empire may be involved in the film adaptation of Au Voir, Crazy European Chick.
  • Brett Harrison (Danny, The O.C.) will have a recurring role on V.
  • The new issue of Life & Style has a feature on James Van Der Beek’s (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) wedding.
  • Sasha Alexander (Gretchen, Dawson’s Creek) is pregnant.

  • Janice Cooke-Leonard (director, One Tree Hill; Gossip Girl 90210; Dawson’s Creek) will direct a new webseries called Hollywood Is Like High School With Money for Alloy, the company behind Gossip Girl.
  • In response to a fan question about Lucas (Chad Michael Murray, One Tree Hill) and Peyton (Hilarie Burton, One Tree Hill) returning, Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) tweeted, “Doesn’t look that way guys,” and later tweeted again (along with spoilish answers to some others questions) “LOOKS like no Peyton/Luke.” As far as where Leyton are, Bush tweeted, “They moved to Australia with their baby, to live with Karen and Andy :)” before correcting herself later by saying that it’s actually New Zealand. And Bush tweeted again later on, after being asked whether she misses the characters, “I’m so happy for them to have gotten what they want in real life, so I’m OK with it. People have to do what’s best for them!”
  • Huey Lewis (Jimmy, One Tree Hill) appeared on Hot In Cleveland this week.
  • Gossip Cop and I busted an Us Weekly story about Leighton Meester (Blair, Gossip Girl) and Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) feuding.
  • Taylor Momsen (Jenny, Gossip Girl) is the face of Material Girl, a new fashion line for Macy’s designed by Madonna and her daughter, Lourdes.

  • Jessica Stroup (Silver, 90210) tweeted a cute pic of some of the 90210 cast outside the school that serves as West Beverly.
  • Staying In has a great interview with Autumn Reeser (Taylor, The O.C.). Have you read my interview with her?
  • Tate Donovan (Jimmy, the O.C.) will appear on Broadway in Good People beginning in February.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Question: Please post something about Gossip Girl! —Emily
Ausiello:
It’s official: The Katie Cassidy-Leighton Meester deathmatch is on! Exec producer Stephanie Savage confirms that Cassidy’s new vixen will tangle with several characters, including the show’s reigning beeyotch, Blair. “When we had the idea for the role we knew there was going to be a really short list of actresses who could actually stand up to Blake [Lively] and Leighton on the screen,” says Savage. “And Katie felt like a great choice.”

  • The CW Sourcies have begun and the first category is Best Kiss. From our shows, you can vote for Adrianna and Navid’s reunion kiss in the 90210 season finale or Haley and Nathan’s kiss in the One Tree Hill season finale after she reveals she’s pregnant.
  • SoapNet made a few changes to the Sunday teen drama schedule: The O.C. is getting two additional hours, now airing from 6-9am while Beverly Hills 90210 airs from 9am to 1pm and One Tree Hill from 3pm to 7pm. I’ve updated their show pages to reflect this.
  • MTV spoke with Kevin Zegers (Damien, Gossip Girl) about his upcoming film schedule, including The Story of Bonnie and Clyde, which will also star Hilary Duff (Olivia, Gossip Girl).

  • Paul Johansson (Dan, One Tree Hill) is directing and starring in an adaptation of Atlas Shrugged.
  • SoapNet has a new One Tree Hill quiz called Test Your Dan Scott I.Q. I scored a 90 percent and was told “YOU’RE DANGEROUS! You know too much about Dan Scott for his comfort. Arm yourself, or take a page out of Abby Brown’s book and hightail it out of Tree Hill before he confronts you” but I don’t think all the answers are accurate.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, The O.C. and Gossip Girl

26 05 2010
  • I am deeply saddened to report that Disney has decided to cease operations of SoapNet beginning in 2012. The network is being replaced with Disney Junior. As you are all aware, SoapNet currently airs reruns of One Tree Hill, Beverly Hills 90210 and The O.C. I do not know what this means for the syndication deals currently in place for those shows. Quite frankly, I am still trying to process this development. In the meantime, I have four things to offer: the press release from Disney, a post from SoapNet and articles from the New York Times and Entertainment Weekly, the latter of which makes some very interesting points. Thank you to Daniel and Gloria for alerting me to the news.
  • In the last Weekly Poll, all three questions had results with large margins. Sixty-three percent believe Quinn and Clay aren’t dead on One Tree Hill, though 5 percent believe it’s quite possible. Another 17 percent have no idea but hope not while 15 percent have no idea but hope so. The Jenny-Chuck storyline on Gossip Girl made 64 percent of voters feel disgusted while just 17 percent were entertained. Nine percent were torn while 10 percent are still trying to process it. Lastly, 71 percent believe 90210’s Naomi was about to be raped by Mr. Cannon. Nineteen percent don’t think that’s happened while 10 percent had no idea. The Weekly Poll will be on hiatus during, um, the hiatus. In the meantime, we have the show evaluations and soon I’ll be resuming weekly trivia on Twitter.
  • Korbi has the next part of her interview with Mark Schwahn (creator, One Tree Hill). Here he discusses whether he wants the show to continue past an eighth season.
  • Registration has opened for Christy-Anne’s second One Tree Hill fan reunion, which will be held this July.
  • Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210) performed during last night’s Dancing With The Stars finale. I haven’t found YouTube video of it yet to link to.
  • Gossip Cop and I busted a false National Enquirer story about Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) and Megan Fox.
  • The Huffington Post has an interesting interview with the band Rooney, and there’s some references to their appearance on The O.C.
  • Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) will produce the film Fun Size with their new company Fake Empire.
  • ESPN has a short interview with Ron Machado, who appears with Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) in her Vogue spread.
