News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl and More

11 08 2010
  • Edwin Hodge has been cast on One Tree Hill. Spoilers involved, so consider this your fair warning.
  • The One Tree Hill Connection podcast has a brief interview with Steve Goldfried (co-producer, One Tree Hill) about the sticker contest.
  • PopWrap has an interview with Amanda Schull (Sara/Katie, One Tree Hill).
  • PopStar has an interview with Matt Lanter (Liam, 90210).
  • Shenae Grimes (Annie, 90210) directed a music video for a song she wrote and sings called “Myself And I.” Ryan Eggold (Ryan, 90210) stars in the video, which oddly isn’t mentioned in the article, and also worked on the song.
  • PEOPLE.com has suggested Ian Ziering (Steve, Beverly Hills 90210), among others, to play Steven Slater if a movie is made about the Jet Blue pilot who made a dramatic plane exit earlier this week.
  • We Love Soaps has an interview with Vanessa Marcil (Gina, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • Blair (Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl) and Chuck (Ed Westwick, Gossip Girl) may be the subject of this Kristin marriage spoiler. (Yes, One Tree Hill’s Brulian is also pictured, but they don’t fit the criteria since they are already engaged.)
  • Parade.com has a great interview with Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl), where she confirms what I’ve said all along: she is not on Twitter!
  • Szohr is unfairly getting heat for supposedly blowing off a Lollapalooza event while on an all-expenses paid trip. Gossip Cop and I obtained the trip invitation that proves her innocence.
  • Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) may star in the film Gravity.
  • Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.), Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) and their company Fake Empire may be involved in the film adaptation of Au Voir, Crazy European Chick.
  • Brett Harrison (Danny, The O.C.) will have a recurring role on V.
  • The new issue of Life & Style has a feature on James Van Der Beek’s (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) wedding.
  • Sasha Alexander (Gretchen, Dawson’s Creek) is pregnant.

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, The O.C., 90210 and One Tree Hill

19 04 2010
  • The Brown Daily Herald has an interesting article on the school’s portrayal in entertainment media, including how it was depicted on Gossip Girl and The O.C.
  • Zap2it has photos of Taylor Momsen (Jenny, Gossip Girl) in her New Look campaign.
  • You can bid on a tour of the Gossip Girl set with Zuzanna Szadkowski (Dorota, Gossip Girl) in support of Shakespeare on the Common.
  • TVGuideMagazine.com has an interesting “exclusive” about Rob Estes (Harry, 90210) leaving the show. Here’s what’s new: quotes from Lori Loughlin (Debbie) and Shenae Grimes (Annie), and the suggestion that the finale is the last episode with Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210).  Loughlin and Grimes don’t seem too happy (though not entirely unhappy, either) and I was under the impression that Garth’s last episode had already aired. Here’s what’s not new: Debbie and Harry are having marriage problems and that will somehow play into Harry’s exit. I leave you to draw your own conclusions.
  • showbizzle, the digital company run by Charles Rosin (executive producer, Beverly Hills 90210), has relaunched its website. There’s a pretty nifty video explaining what showbizzle is (if you haven’t read my interview with Rosin about it–or even if you have!) and you can see a little of Ian Ziering (Steve, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • General Hospital’s headwriter told Soap Opera Digest he is in talks with Vanessa Marcil (Gina, Beverly Hills 90210), something we also heard a few months ago.
  • The New York Post has an article on stars getting acting experience through soap operas and it features a few quotes from Marcil.
  • The new One Tree Hill Connection podcast features an interview with Tym Bucheran (make-up artist, One Tree Hill).

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and More

12 04 2010
  • One Tree Hill came in second in Kristin’s Save One Show campaign. Chuck, which is executive produced by Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) won.
  • Even if you didn’t participate in the postcard campaign for One Tree Hill, you can still print out one of the postcards as a keepsake.
  • The first video featuring the winners of The CW’s One Tree Hill contest has been released. It’s pretty cute. I am ridiculously jealous.
  • The new One Tree Hill Connection podcast has an interview with Joe Davola (executive producer, One Tree Hill).
  • Cari Moskow (Patty, One Tree Hill) joined Twitter today after being re-inspired by our interview.
  • Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl) will no longer be starring in Footloose.
  • The 33 TV, a news station in Dallas, has a video interview with Crawford and his sister Candice.
  • CNN is taking fan questions for Crawford for their Connector Of The Day feature. Can you spot the error in what they wrote?
  • PEOPLE.com and the New York Post have interviews with Zuzanna Szadkowski (Dorota, Gossip Girl).
  • MTV has a short interview with Eric Daman (costume designer, Gossip Girl).
  • I don’t post these every week but I figured I’d share this time: 90210 had the most DVR growth, percentage wise, in the 18-49 demographic than any other network show during the week of March 22. Gossip Girl ranked fourth. (It’s noteworthy, for One Tree Hill renewal/cancellation purposes, that Melrose Place ranked second.) The CW sent out a press release with all the numbers.
  • Laura Leighton (Sophie, Beverly Hills 90210) will return to Melrose Place tomorrow night for the season finale.
  • Time Out New York Kids has an interview with Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210), which includes a (totally legitimate but late, IMO) dig at 90210.
  • The Bannen Way, which features Vanessa Marcil (Gina, Beverly Hills 90210) and Autumn Reeser (Taylor, The O.C.), won several awards at The Streamys.
  • An article on Life Unexpected, which stars Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek), has nice references to both DC and Beverly Hills 90210.
  • BlackBook has an interview with Smith, with a little bit of DC talk and a Gossip Girl mention.
  • Busy Philipps (Audrey, Dawson’s Creek) spoke a little about James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) to E! Online.

News Roundup: 90210, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and More

15 03 2010
  • Zap2it says the 90210 season finale will air May 18, with One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl the day before, May 17.
  • Shenae Grimes (Annie, 90210) is now on Twitter, as confirmed by Tristan Wilds (Dixon, 90210). I updated the Twitter Directory accordingly.

  • MSNBC has an article on Jason Priestley (Brandon, Beverly Hills 90210) hosting TODAY this morning.

  • Clips from One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and The O.C. can be seen in the background of this performance by Stuckey and Murray. The “comedy music duo” are parodying the music and montages that play at the end of TV dramas. It’s pretty awesome.
  • Examiner.com has an interview with India de Beaufort (Miranda, One Tree Hill).
  • The new One Tree Hill Connection podcast features Mike Grubbs (Grubbs, One Tree Hill).
  • Michael Trucco (Cooper, One Tree Hill) will star in Facing Kate, a new series on USA.
  • Not sure when it happened but there’s now a verified Twitter account for Taylor Momsen (Jenny, Gossip Girl). I updated the Twitter Directory accordingly.
  • Examiner.com has a brief interview with Kelly Rutherford (Lily, Gossip Girl).
  • Brittany Robertson, who used to work for Charles Rosin (executive producer, Beverly Hills 90210), told MTV she grew up watching her Life Unexpected co-star Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek), on DC.

23 02 2010
  • Be sure to check out The CW’s site for all the new video content this week.
  • Last night’s One Tree Hill (2.2 million viewers) rose a bit in the ratings compared to last week. The CW sent out a press release touting the ratings increase–but remember, last week was a season- and (I think) series-low and 2.2 is about the season average so this isn’t much to brag about. The network also says this is the highest rating since Dec. 7, but three out of the last five episodes (not including this one) had a 2.2 (rounded) rating so I don’t get that part, and considering the Dec. 7 rating was 2.6, this, again, isn’t brag-worthy.
  • Mike Grubbs (Grubbs, One Tree Hill) has a funny vlog that sorta kinda features James Lafferty (Nathan, One Tree Hill).
  • The new One Tree Hill Connection podcast has an interview with Amanda Schull (Sara/Katie, One Tree Hill).
  • Korbi is asking which Tuesday show you miss the most and 90210 is one of the options.

  • The Celebrity Cafe has an interview with James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek).
  • IFC.com has an interesting article on Michelle Williams (Jen, Dawson’s Creek) and her career.
