News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl and The O.C.

  • Despite some outlets looking favorably on the network, The TV Addict gave The CW a C- for the season.
  • The CW sent me screeners for Hellcats, featuring Matt Barr (Ian “Psycho Derek” Banks, One Tree Hill) and Robbie Jones (Quentin, One Tree Hill), as well as Nikita, featuring Melinda Clarke (Julie, The O.C.). After I watch them, I will post some thoughts, like I did for Life Unexpected.
  • Encore has an interview with Mike Grubbs (Grubbs, One Tree Hill). Have you read my interview with him?
  • Starpulse has an interview with Tyler Hilton (Chris, One Tree Hill).
  • TV Fanatic gave 90210 a C for the season, making quite a few great points about the show’s flaws and what it needs to work on.
  • You know all those questions we had after the 90210 season finale? On why promised or hinted to things never actually happened? E! Online has some answers and I, for one, am pissed off. (Of course, that’s nothing new for me in regards to this show but still…)
  • Jason Priestley (Brandon, Beverly Hills 9021o) will have a recurring role on ABC’s Scoundrels, which premieres June 20. Thanks to Jethro and Gina for alerting me to the news. Not sure what this means for Call Me Fitz, if anything.
  • The Stir has an interview with Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • Zap2it has an interesting article debating whether the Gossip Girl season 2 finale or season 3 finale was better.
  • McG (executive producer, The O.C.) will produce the film The DUFF, based on a novel of the same name.

  • I may not be able to live-blog this week’s episodes due to Passover. If that ends up being the case, I will have reaction posts later in the week.
  • The L.A. Times has an interesting post on The CW’s decision to add more commercials during online viewings of their shows.
  • One Tree Hill returns with new episodes one month from today. (A repeat will air on 4/19.)
  • The listing for this house says it was used on One Tree Hill but I can’t figure out whose it is. Brooke? Peyton? Rachel? None of the above? Anyway…the house is up for auction to benefit the Methodist Home For Children.
  • The Soup Dish spoofed Gossip Girl’s sex-with-food-in-the-kitchen scene from last week’s episode.
  • Sebastian Stan (Carter, Gossip Girl) is in Hot Tub Time Machine, which was released in theaters today.
  • E! Online and TV Fanatic have spoiler-filled interviews with Trevor Donovan (Teddy, 90210). Have you read my two interviews with him?

  • Have you taken the TDW Survey yet?
  • The CW has renewed Smallville. The Hollywood Reporter thinks One Tree Hill is “still on the bubble” while Life Unexpected and Melrose Place are “still unlikely.”

  • All the remaining teen drama couples have been eliminated from E!’s Online’s TV’s Top Couples tournament.
  • Leighton Meester (Blair, Gossip Girl) is on the cover of the April issue of Glamour.

  • Green Lantern, starring Lively and written by Greg Berlanti (writer-producer, Dawson’s Creek) will be released in 3-D on. June 17, 2011.

  • Gossip Cop, where I’m currently interning, busted a fabricated story from Star magazine, which claimed Matthew Settle (Rufus, Gossip Girl) and Kelly Rutherford (Lily) are together in real life. It’s totally not true.
  • Josh Schwartz (creator, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) spoke with MTV about why his script for X-Men: First Class isn’t being used and also spoke about casting for Endless Love, which he’s working on with Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.).
  • Crushable has a semi-spoilish interview with Schwartz about Gossip Girl and his other current projects. He also references The O.C.
  • TVGuideMagazine.com gave jeers to Mischa Barton (Marissa, The O.C.) on last night’s Law & Order: SVU.
