News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl and More

4 03 2010
  • Have you taken the TDW Survey yet?
  • The CW has renewed Smallville. The Hollywood Reporter thinks One Tree Hill is “still on the bubble” while Life Unexpected and Melrose Place are “still unlikely.”
  • TV Fanatic has an interesting post asking, “Is 90210 pushing the Adrianna/Gia relationship too hard?”
  • E! Online spoke with Candy Spelling (widow of Aaron Spelling [executive producer]; mother to Tori [Donna] and Randy [Ryan], Beverly Hills 90210) about Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210) being on Dancing With The Stars.
  • All the remaining teen drama couples have been eliminated from E!’s Online’s TV’s Top Couples tournament.

  • Gossip Cop, where I’m currently interning, busted a fabricated story from Star magazine, which claimed Matthew Settle (Rufus, Gossip Girl) and Kelly Rutherford (Lily) are together in real life. It’s totally not true.
  • Josh Schwartz (creator, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) spoke with MTV about why his script for X-Men: First Class isn’t being used and also spoke about casting for Endless Love, which he’s working on with Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.).

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and More

20 01 2010
  • Monday’s One Tree Hill (2.2 million viewers rounded up) saw its ratings drop quite a bit from the last episode. (Life Unexpected had 2.8 million.)
  • Fancast has spoilish casting news for One Tree Hill.
  • Kristin has a pretty big Gossip Girl spoiler.
  • According to The Wrap, the Footloose remake, starring Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl) has been “pushed back indefinitely.”
  • Glamour has a photo gallery featuring Crawford. I believe the photos are also in their February 2010 issue.
  • The Los Angeles Times and E! Online both confirmed that Rob Estes (Harry, 90210) is leaving the show. It also sounds like there will be a third season but, once again, there hasn’t been an official announcement and probably won’t be for still a while.
  • Zap2it and EW.com also have posts on Estes leaving.
  • Charles Rosin (executive producer, Beverly Hills 90210) has a blog post up on showbizzle that mentions casting Luke Perry (Dylan, Beverly Hills 90210) on the show.
  • Dawson’s Creek premiered 12 years ago today. Thank you to Amanda for the reminder!
  • Dawson’s Creek is included in a TVGuide.com photogallery on The Best Midseason Replacements.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and Dawson’s Creek

15 09 2009
  • The Daily News has a photo gallery called “TV Shows That Peaked in High School” and our teen dramas have the (dis)honor of being in it.  One Tree Hill is given credit for skipping the college years, “which may be why this former teen drama is still on the air today.”
  • There’s tons of teen drama content in the new issue of Portrait Magazine.
  • One Tree Hill (2.59 million) did better than Gossip Girl (2.52 million) last night, but not by as much as they usually do.  This was GG’s best ratings since January.
  • Have any of you been to SoapNet’s board for One Tree Hill? Just curious since I’m not really liking it and wondering if anyone feels the same.
  • Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) and SoGoPro did an interview with Say It Social Radio.
  • PEOPLE.com has a Gossip Girl-version of Hangman.
  • They also have a GG fashion quiz.
  • Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl) was named one of the “25 hottest actors under 25.”
  • Brandon (Jason Priestley, Beverly Hills 90210) was recently a “weekly crush” on SoapNet.
  • Glamour has a great interview with Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) on Donna’s fashion.
  • The Los Angeles Times has an interview with Matt Lanter (Liam, 90210).  He says he has an official MySpace but confirms that all Twitter accounts are fakes.
  • TVStar has an interview with Michael Steger (Navid, 90210).
  • LoHud.com has an interview with John Schneider (Jeffrey, Liam’s stepdad, 90210).
  • I like this recent tweet from James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek): “I thought I was immune to soapy drama after making it for 6 years, but I’m finding myself kind of addicted to “‘True Blood.'”
  • Michelle Williams (Jen) is on the cover of the October issue of Vogue.  You can read an excerpt of the cover story here.
