News Roundup: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and 90210

23 08 2010
  • TV Guide Magazine has a few Gossip Girl spoilers.
  • Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl) is on the cover of Nylon’s September issue.
  • Interview has an, um, interview with Taylor Momsen (Jenny, Gossip Girl).
  • Everly, featuring Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley, One Tree Hill), has a new website.
  • Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill) has started a humorous (parody?) Twitter account under the name @SensitiveJulian.
  • Tristan Wilds (Dixon, 90210) tweeted that he started a blog.
  • The Beverly Hills 90210 Season 10 DVD will be released November 2. TVShowsOnDVD.com has a look at the cover art and reports that The Final Goodbye will be included as a bonus feature. (The set itself is being marketed as The Final Season, as opposed to The Tenth Season.) While I am happy that there are special features again (it’s the first time since season 4), I wonder if its inclusion and the timing of the release means there won’t be a complete series set. They are not only missing out on the opportunity to market it for Christmas, but to have it come out on a year of double anniversaries for the show. But I suppose anything is possible own the road. And at first I was thrilled to see what I thought was an authentic cover photo – as in, it was an original group photo with all of the tenth season’s regular cast members; no one was photoshopped in or out like in the past and the photo wasn’t otherwise altered in any way- but I doubled-checked and a Google search of the original photo shows they did make some subtle, needless changes. It’s pretty amazing: ten seasons, ten DVDs and not one with appropriate and/or unedited cover art! The photo on the top left also looks suspicious but I can’t say for sure without seeing the cover first-hand. Also, it’s interesting that there’s three pictures of Tori Spelling (Donna) on the front and another on the side. I mean, are two solo pics necessary? Really? Also, love how Vincent Young (Noah) went from being left off the covers for seasons 8 and 9, but gets two pictures on this one. Sigh.

  • Fanbolt has a really great interview with Thiessen on a variety of topics.
  • Gossip Cop and I busted another manipulative Life & Style cover story, which makes it looks like Katie Holmes (Joey, Dawson’s Creek) has confessed to them she’s pregnant, when in actuality she didn’t tell them anything like that and (shocker) she’s not pregnant! Grrr.
  • Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson’s Creek) says he’s willing to appear on The Vampire Diaries, which is executive produced by Kevin Williamson (creator, Dawson’s Creek).
  • RTE has an interview with Busy Philipps (Audrey, Dawson’s Creek).

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210 and More

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, The O.C., 90210 and One Tree Hill

16 03 2010
  • Last night’s Gossip Girl (1.7 million viewers) stayed the same in the ratings compared to last week, making that two weeks in a row with a record-low. Meanwhile, Life Unexpected had a nice increase in ratings, which The CW (rightfully) bragged about in a press release, while also spinning GG’s numbers.
  • At work today, Gossip Cop and I busted Access Hollywood and OK! Magazine for citing one of the fake Twitter accounts for Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl).
  • Zap2it has an interview with Aaron Tveit (Tripp, Gossip Girl), mostly about Ugly Betty.
  • Hilary Duff (Olivia, Gossip Girl) and Chris Carmack (Luke, The O.C.) star in the TV movie Beauty & The Briefcase, which will air on ABCFamily April 18.
  • Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan, The O.C.) wrote a piece for TVGuide.com about tonight’s episode of Southland. Apparently this is the third week he’s done this. News to me!
  • Bonnie Somerville (Rachel, The O.C.) and Matt Lanter (Liam, 90210) each participated in a short trivia game with DailyFill, where the questions happened to be predominantly about our teen dramas!
  • The CW Source, BuzzSugar and TeenTelevision.com have spoilish interviews with Tristan Wilds (Dixon, 90210).
  • Alloy and TV.com have spoilish interviews with Michael Steger (Navid, 90210). Really not happy with the factually-inaccurate and insulting answer he gave to the last question in the latter one. (BTW, have you read my interview with him?)
  • Crushable.com has a post highlighting “5 Dudes Who Are Way Too Old To Be Playing Teenagers on TV,” including Trevor Donovan (Teddy, 90210) and making references to Steger and Andrea (Gabrielle Carteris, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • The Walshes ranked 49th in TV Guide Magazine’s list of Top 50 TV Families.
  • For the week of February 22, One Tree Hill had one of the top 10 biggest gains when DVR ratings were factored in.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, The O.C. and More

24 02 2010
  • E! Online spoke with CW head honcho Dawn Ostroff about the chances of Life Unexpected and Melrose Place being renewed. Unfortunately, One Tree Hill wasn’t discussed–or, if it was, it wasn’t include in the article.
  • WECT and Star News report a CBS pilot will be filmed at Screen Gems Studios this spring, the same place that houses the One Tree Hill sets. One Tree Hill should be finished filming for the season by then but I’m not sure they’d be affected anyway. (I don’t know how big Screen Gems is but it’s noteworthy that only one major series has filmed there at a time–first Dawson’s Creek and then One Tree Hill.) Also keep in mind that where a pilot films isn’t necessarily where the series will film, if it is indeed ordered as a series.
  • WECT also has an article on Wilmington’s “film industry” being stable “with or without One Tree Hill.”
  • Deadline Hollywood and The Hollywood Reporter both say Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl) and Michael Cassidy (Zach, The O.C.) are in the running to play Captain American. I’ve seen rumors recently that Chad Michael Murray (Lucas, One Tree Hill) and Rob Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill) were also being considered but I didn’t post them because they were just that–rumors, and from sites whose credibility I couldn’t vouch for. These two sites, however, I frequent regularly and are well-respected in the entertainment news industry.
  • Chuck/Blair (Gossip Girl), Nate/Blair (Gossip Girl) and Ryan/Marissa (The O.C.) are the only teen drama couples remaining in E! Online’s TV’s Top Couples tournament. (David/Donna and Dylan/Brenda, both of Beverly Hills 90210, were eliminated.)
  • Josh Schwartz (creator/executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) is reportedly working on a remake of the film Endless Love.
  • There is an article on Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan, The O.C.) in the new issue of TV Guide Magazine.
  • Dawson’s Creek is included in TVGuide.com’s TV’s Biggest Blunders photogallery for losing sexual “tension a-plenty when its lead characters hooked up.”

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and More

11 02 2010
  • The Hollywood Reporter has an article listing various shows’ chances of renewal. None of the teen dramas are included, though Melrose Place (5 percent chance), Life Unexpected (55 percent), Smallville (85 percent) and Supernatural (85 percent) are. Thanks to Amy for the link.
  • Kansan.com has an interview with Mike Grubbs (Grubbs, One Tree Hill). Have you read my interview with Grubbs?
  • Chad Michael Murray (Lucas, One Tree Hill) is SoapNet’s new Weekly Crush but there’s a few inaccuracies in the captions.
  • Complex.com has two features with Bryan Greenberg (Jake, One Tree Hill). TV Guide Magazine gave his new show, How To Make It In America (which premieres Sunday), a negative review.
  • E! Online has a feature with Danneel Harris (Rachel, One Tree Hill).
  • Matthew Settle (Rufus, Gossip Girl) has joined the cast of the Broadway musical Chicago. He will be performing for 10 weeks beginning at the end of March.
  • StyleList has an interview with Eric Daman (costume designer, Gossip Girl).
  • The Wisconsin Gazette has an interview with Michael Cudlitz (Tony, Beverly Hills 90210). He mentions his Southland co-star Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan, The O.C.) a little bit.
  • New York Magazine has an interview with Chris Pratt (Che, The O.C.).
  • Check out a trailer for the movie Stolen, which stars James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek).

News Roundup: 90210, One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl

18 11 2009
  • Monday’s One Tree Hill (2.6 million viewers) dropped ever so slightly and Gossip Girl (2.2 million viewers) dropped a bit more in the ratings compared to last week.
  • Last night’s 90210 ( 2.1 million viewers) stayed the same in the ratings compared to last week.
  • For some reason, this week (both Monday and Tuesday) The CW only had 94 percent coverage instead of 95 percent. But I’m not sure how much difference that actually makes in the ratings. I’ve been told it was 94 prior to this season so it’s possible that will be the norm again.
  • The CW sent out a press release, however, touting this week’s ratings for all 3 shows, as well as how the network did overall during the sweeps period as well for this season in general compared to last year.
  • It was comforting to read the comments on EW.com’s 90210 recap and see many other original fans with similar complaints to the Jackie-Kelly storyline as I have.
  • TV Guide Magazine has a spoiler-filled interview with Matt Lanter (Liam, 90210).
  • Greg Vaughan (Cliff, Beverly Hills 90210) tweeted that his new role on 90210 will begin in January and that it is recurring.
  • Tristan Wilds (Dixon, 90210) is reportedly dating Rihanna.
  • Zimbio has an interesting look at the hairstyle Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210) had at the New Moon premiere.

  • Kristin has major spoilers for Gossip Girl.
  • GQ named Leighton Meeter (Blair, Gossip Girl) their Obsession of the Year.
  • PEOPLE.com has more details from Meester’s Glamour UK coverstory.
  • Meester says she is collaborating with Lil Wayne on one of her songs. Wayne recently had a baby with Lauren London (Christina, 90210).
  • MTV has an interview with Jessica Szhor (Vanessa, Gossip Girl).
  • Michelle Trachtenberg (Georgina, Gossip Girl) is partnering with Coach on a jewelry line.
  • Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) is featured in the new SoGoPro prodcast.

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210 and Dawson’s Creek

5 11 2009
  • E! Online has a short spoilish blurb on the Gossip Girl threesome.
  • PEOPLE.com has a poll asking if Gossip Girl is “going too far.”
  • MTV interviewed Lady Gaga about her upcoming Gossip Girl appearance.
  • Rolling Stone interviewed GG executive producer Stephanie Savage about Gaga’s appearance.
  • TV Overmind has an article criticizing Gossip Girl, much like yesterday’s piece from the Daily News.  Again, I’m not GG’s biggest fan–far from it–but I don’t think the picture they painted is entirely accurate.  Buddy TV has a piece, too, but it really just regurgitates the Daily News one.
  • Leighton Meester (Blair, Gossip Girl) on the cover of the December issue of Glamour UK.
  • TV Guide Magazine calls next week’s One Tree Hill a “standout episode.”
  • One Tree Hill director Mike Leone recorded a message for fans.
  • Apparently Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) is one of the most nominated people in several categories of the Open Web Awards put on by the social media site Mashable.  Burton is being nominated for her work with SoGoPro.
  • Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210) wrote a piece for CNN on heart disease.  As you may or may not know, it’s an issue both she and members of her family have personally dealt with.
  • Here are all the articles I could find on last night’s Dawson’s Creek panel at the Paley Center: Zap2it, Zap2it again, New York Post, Home Media Magazine, AfterElton.  I’m a little disappointed as I expected there to be more. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and 90210

25 10 2009
  • Another reminder that I won’t be live-blogging One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl tomorrow as I will be traveling.  I will do reaction posts later in the week.  90210 is a repeat this week.
  • TV Guide Magazine has a short piece on Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) and the episode of OTH she directed.
  • Naley (One Tree Hill) are included in E! Online’s TV Couples We Love gallery. Blair and Chuck (Gossip Girl) are included as well.
  • The remake of Footloose, set to star Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl), has lost its director.  The film is supposedly “still on track,” though.
  • EW.com named 90210 one of the most improved shows of the season.  I completely disagree but whatevs.
  • The Oct. 23 issue of Entertainment Weekly has a photo of Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210) and Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210) from a recent EW-sponsored event.
