News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and More

- Be sure to check out The CW’s site for all the new video content this week.
- Last night’s One Tree Hill (2.3 million viewers) and Gossip Girl (2.0 million viewers rounded up) each had a decent drop in the ratings compared to last week. Gossip Girl technically didn’t even cross 2 million (again, I rounded up), tying for a season-low.
- I will be interviewing Lee Norris (Mouth, One Tree Hill) later this week. Since I’ve already interviewed him, I figured this time I would use reader questions. Please comment with your question by Thursday Friday morning. I cannot promise it will be asked but I’ll do my best!
- The new One Tree Hill Connection podcast features an interview with OTH writer Terrence Coli.
- I love this video interview with Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill), where she adamantly states she isn’t on Twitter. As you’ve seen in my Twitter Directory, there are tons of fake Sophias out there. Frustrating!
- Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) recorded a message on SoGoPro.
- If you haven’t seen Brett Claywell (Tim, One Tree Hill) on One Life to Live, Perez Hilton actually posted a clip.
- In a Gossip Girl recap by the L.A. Times, both Andrea (Gabrielle Carteris, Beverly Hills 90210) and Joey (Katie Holmes, Dawson’s Creek) are compared to Vanessa (Jessica Szhor, Gossip Girl).
- If you missed the short clip of the video for “Somebody to Love” by Leighton Meester (Blair, Gossip Girl), which aired during GG last night, E! Online posted it.
- The Parents Television Council has sent a letter urging CW affiliates not to air next week’s episode, which will feature the reported threesome. Seems a little preemptive (no pun intended) to me. I can’t imagine the episode being vulgar enough to warrant this. I imagine, like the gay kiss, it will be such a nothing thing and is really more about getting publicity and media attention (in which case, it worked). But I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
- You can get 10% off the cost of tickets for the Gossip Girl tour in New York City when you use the promo code TEENDRAMA.
- TV Guide Magazine has a spoiler-filled interview with Jessica Stroup (Silver, 90210) about what happens with the Jackie (Ann Gillespie) storyline. We all know how I feel about this so I figured I’d spare you guys the rant.
- Ausiello has a lot more spoiler-filled details on the Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes, 90210) / Gia (Rumer Willis, 90210) storyline.
- Kellan Lutz (George, 90210) and Nikki Reed (Sadie, The O.C.) are also featured in the Nov. issue of Nylon.
- The O.C. made BlackBook’s list of Top 10 Single-Letter & Acronymical TV Shows.
- Adam Brody (Seth, The O.C.) will star alongside Holmes in The Romantics. Holmes will also produce.
- The A.V. Club has a great interview with Chris Pratt (Che, The O.C.)

The stupid Parent’s Council are clearly idiots because all they accomplish is making more buzz about the issue thus generating better ratings. It is a wasted effort. If they have kids and don’t them to watch it then fine, don’t ruin it for everyone else.
Alyssa, you make a great point. They are definitely bringing more attention to the show, in which case, the show wins. What’s even more interesting to me is that the PTC hasn’t seen the episode yet. They are just basing it off of reports that a threesome will take place. They have no idea yet how it will be featured and what exactly will be shown. I think they’d be better off criticizing after they see it, if it’s even necessary at that point. I’m not sure if the affiliates get to see episodes in advance so it’s not clear what they’ll base their decision on besides this letter and what the media has already vaguely reported about the ep. Curious to see what happens, if anything.
And this isn’t the first time PTC is going after the show. Last time, the network just took one of their quotes and used it in an ad campaign so, again, they won.
Hmmm, I don’t know if I believe Rebecca Sinaclair when she says it won’t be a ‘fling’. What else would it be? If Adrianna is really figuring out who she is, the Gia thing most defintely sounds like just a fling/experiment. I hope they do the storyline justice though. I’m intrigued to see the ‘relationship’ develop.
I can’t wait to see “The romantics”! I love Katie and Adam, Josh Duhamel is hot and Malin Akerman is from Sweden like me!
I would love for you to ask if Lee hangs out with any of his One Tree Hill costars in his free time =)
g90210th: I don’t believe her either. I don’t know if she’s saying it’s not a fling because it lasts for more than 2-3 episodes or because Ade actually falls for her (as opposed to just being confused or experimenting). I feel like we know they won’t make her 100 % gay because, given how much homophobia still exists and what limitations and stigmas there still are on TV, they’d really paint themselves into a corner. (And I can’t see them keeping Rumer long-term either.) And just slapping on the bi label seems like an easy way out, an explanation that allows Ade to go back to guys and Navid. So that makes the story feel cheap and even like a waste of time. I’m not saying it’s not realistic or can’t be done well. I think Jack on Dawson’s Creek and Otalia on Guiding Light are good examples but they worked because being gay was endgame. And I have a feeling Navid is really endgame here, which makes this seem more similar to The O.C.’s attempt as a bi/gay storyline. I’m just skeptical given the show and the network’s quality already. There’s a reason (many actually) the network’s motto is “TV to talk about” and not TV to watch.
Em: Thanks for the question. I’ll try my best to ask it.
TDW, I completely agree about the “lesbian relationship”. It has been done for hype too many times so I don’t see why this one will be any different. Personally, I find stories like Jack’s on DC way more interesting to watch because it is compelling and honest and you know that he truely is gay and has to really deal with that. All of the other stunt gay storylines are ridiculous because they only deal with how everyone else sees them and gossips about them. If you’re really gay the biggest hurdle you have to cross is with yourself, your inner demons and really learning to accept yourself. My bet is that we won’t see any of this on 90210 with Ade or anyone else. And P.S. notice how most if not all these fake stories are about lesbians and not gays? Wonder why that is? >insert sarcasm here<
I’m with ya, Alyssa. Agree with all that you said, as well. I don’t know if it’s fair for me to me so skeptical/cynical but I can’t help it, especially when it’s a show that I have *very* little faith in to begin with. We’ll have to watch and see. I can only hope I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
