News Roundup: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210 and More

3 05 2010
  • Anyone tweet with The CW tonight? I was live-blogging so I obviously couldn’t do it but I imagine interesting things were said.
  • The issue of TV Guide Magazine on sale now features a spoiler-filled blurb about the Gossip Girl finale, with quotes from Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl).
  • The CW Source has a short video interview with Billy Baldwin (William, Gossip Girl).
  • Twelve, starring Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl), will open in theaters July 2.
  • Rolling Stone named The Pretty Reckless, featuring Taylor Momsen (Jenny, Gossip Girl), one of Bamboozle’s Five Breakout Bands T0 Watch.
  • Access Hollywood has an interview with Momsen.
  • Deadline has some details on the renewal process and chances for One Tree Hill.
  • TVGuide.com also gives its thoughts and lists OTH as “looking good” for renewal.
  • In USA Today’s Save Our Shows survey, only 10 percent voted to “keep” One Tree Hill.
  • James Lafferty (Nathan, One Tree Hill) participated in a live-streamed Wakey!Wakey! concert thingie with Mike Grubbs (Grubbs, One Tree Hill) tonight. You can watch the archived version.
  • Examiner.com has an interview with Lee Norris (Mouth, One Tree Hill). Have you read my two interviews with him?
  • NBC Philadelphia has a brief interview with Jessica Lowndes (Adrianna, 90210).
  • Beverly Hills 90210 and The O.C. are included in SoapNet’s “Your Family Is Tearing Us Apart!” photogallery.
  • The Extra Man, with Katie Holmes (Joey, Dawson’s Creek), will open in theaters 30.

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, 90210, One Tree Hill and Dawson’s Creek

  • Last night’s Gossip Girl (1.9 million viewers rounded up) climbed a bit in the ratings compared to last week.
  • Korbi is asking via poll if Blair should have forgiven Chuck.
  • Gossip Cop busted a Perez Hilton/In Touch story about Leighton Meester (Blair, Gossip Girl) hooking up with Twilight’s Robert Pattinson.
  • The Daily News claims they have more details about the breakup between Ed Westwick (Chuck, Gossip Girl) and Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl).
  • You can enter a sweepstakes to win the dress Silver (Jessica Stroup, 90210) wore to the Winter Wonderland dance.
  • Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) will make his return to Smallville on Friday’s episode. Ausiello has an exclusive sneak peek of one of his scenes.
  • Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) has been cast in Southern Discomfort, an ABC pilot. This DOES NOT mean One Tree Hill is canceled or that Bush is abandoning ship. 1) OTH has not been canceled–or renewed. 2) If OTH is renewed, Bush is contractually obligated to do OTH. 3) She is simply preparing herself for what may be a reality. It’s a smart move.
  • Also noteworthy in the short article about the casting is Deadline’s take that OTH has a 50-50 chance at renewal. They also “presume” that it’s OTH versus Life Unexpected, which stars Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek). The Hollywood Reporter says the shows “are considered to be” in competition.
  • Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson’s Creek) won a Genie Award for his acting work in the movie One Week. He reportedly mentioned DC in his acceptance speech. He looks adorable in the photo.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, The O.C. and More

  • E! Online spoke with CW head honcho Dawn Ostroff about the chances of Life Unexpected and Melrose Place being renewed. Unfortunately, One Tree Hill wasn’t discussed–or, if it was, it wasn’t include in the article.
  • WECT and Star News report a CBS pilot will be filmed at Screen Gems Studios this spring, the same place that houses the One Tree Hill sets. One Tree Hill should be finished filming for the season by then but I’m not sure they’d be affected anyway. (I don’t know how big Screen Gems is but it’s noteworthy that only one major series has filmed there at a time–first Dawson’s Creek and then One Tree Hill.) Also keep in mind that where a pilot films isn’t necessarily where the series will film, if it is indeed ordered as a series.
  • WECT also has an article on Wilmington’s “film industry” being stable “with or without One Tree Hill.”
  • Deadline Hollywood and The Hollywood Reporter both say Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl) and Michael Cassidy (Zach, The O.C.) are in the running to play Captain American. I’ve seen rumors recently that Chad Michael Murray (Lucas, One Tree Hill) and Rob Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill) were also being considered but I didn’t post them because they were just that–rumors, and from sites whose credibility I couldn’t vouch for. These two sites, however, I frequent regularly and are well-respected in the entertainment news industry.
  • Chuck/Blair (Gossip Girl), Nate/Blair (Gossip Girl) and Ryan/Marissa (The O.C.) are the only teen drama couples remaining in E! Online’s TV’s Top Couples tournament. (David/Donna and Dylan/Brenda, both of Beverly Hills 90210, were eliminated.)
  • Josh Schwartz (creator/executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) is reportedly working on a remake of the film Endless Love.
  • There is an article on Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan, The O.C.) in the new issue of TV Guide Magazine.
  • Dawson’s Creek is included in TVGuide.com’s TV’s Biggest Blunders photogallery for losing sexual “tension a-plenty when its lead characters hooked up.”
