Ausiello has an exclusive interview with Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) on her decision to leave the show.

The highlights: She had a six-year contract and decided, along with others, not to go beyond that.  Emotional and professional decision for her.  Her video in Feb. was done to dispel rumors.  Doesn’t want to speak for Chad.  (Article says CMM declined comment but confirmed he’s no longer on the show.)  Happy with Leyton’s ending.  Won’t rule out guest appearance.  Moving forward with Southern Gothic Productions.

My thoughts: Extremely disappointed.  Appreciate her honesty.  Wish One Tree Hill was ending this season.  It’s no longer the same show when you remove 2 main characters, especially at the same time.  On the other hand, Beverly Hills 90210 did that several times over and I still loved it, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
