Spoiler: Mega Buzz

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

You made a potentially sarcastic remark about Gossip Girl‘s Serena and Nate happening. I need to know if there is anything to that remark, because I am more hopeful than I should be about Serenate finding their way back together. Please help! — Megan
MICKEY: Hope springs eternal, Megan! I will downgrade my previous sarcastic remark to say that the possibility of Serenate is alive and well through the end of the season. But Serena’s season-finale suitor is someone entirely different — and surprising. If it’s a happy ending you’re looking for, forget it. Though Blair hears some magic words, her fall is looking increasingly shrouded in dread. Welcome to NYU, B.!

Will One Tree Hill‘s “Leyton” be back next season with mini Leyton? — Nicole
MATT:
Alas, in the days since you sent in this question, the CW confirmed that Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton will not be returning for Season 7. The silver lining is that the actors’ final outing is a solid one. TVGuide.com’s Robyn Ross, who screened the May 18 season finale, reports that the hour “wraps things up in a little bow with no shockers to leave us hanging. Old faces were back, and dreams were truly realized. Perhaps it could’ve served better as a series finale, because I’d love to think this is the way these stories would have ended.”

Let’s talk 90210who’s gonna die? — Matty
MICKEY:
Before I tell you who dies, let me ask you this, Matty: Ever see the movie Carrie? Because it’s prom time at West Bev, and Annie is doing her best Sissy Spacek impression for us. It’s harrowing; you might even say she is driven to do some very uncharacteristic things, like maybe even kill someone! Who? It’s hard to say exactly, but in the same episode, Adrianna makes a choice, Ethan makes a declaration, and Liam makes a mistake — all three of which are life-changing.

Random Gripe

One of the things 90210 uses for promotion is the ties it has to the original series, including featuring and mentioning original characters.

But those things end up being so unsatisfying because the show seems to do them half-assed (which isn’t surprising giving the LA Times piece from earlier this week). They mention or feature a character but don’t provide information for the new storyline to make sense with the old.

So the question is: why don’t they fill in the holes?

Example 1: Dylan is the father of Kelly’s son, Sammy, who was born sometime since 2000 but not after 2005. So when exactly did that happen? And why didn’t Kelly and Dylan marry when she got pregnant? And why did they split up?

Example 2: In the pilot episode, Hannah Zuckerman-Vasquez was giving the morning news at West Bev. But since when does Hannah (and her parents, Andrea and Jesse) live in Beverly Hills and if they do, where are they? We haven’t seen Hannah since that first episode!

Example 3: Brandon, we’re told, is traveling the world, covering wars and like. Or so it seems. So he’s still a journalist? Where is he based out of? Is he married?

Example 4: When and why did The Peach Pit change locations and names? And where has Nat been lately?

Example 5: According to spoilers/rumors, Donna is living in Japan with David but may move back to Beverly Hills–or at least returns to help Silver as she goes through a tough time. But didn’t Brenda say, early in the season, that she saw Donna and her “cute” baby? How, if they are living in Japan? And what happened to Now Wear This? (And Kelly’s PR firm?!) And how can Donna come/move back without David and their kid? And why would Donna come back to help Silver but David, her own brother, wouldn’t?

These bones that the writers throw to us end up being worth very little because they lack so much information. There isn’t a genuine effort to reward, respect or even keep viewers of the original.

What are your thoughts?

90210 Locations Pt. 4

23 01 2009

It’s time for a look at another iconic Beverly Hills, 90210 location.

West Beverly High

Torrance High School!

I mean, West Beverly!

The first three seasons were actually shot at this high school in Torrance.  The new 90210 continues to shoot there as well, and at a high school in El Segundo.

Does this look familiar?  (Ignore the fence!)

West Beverly Courtyard

Many a scene took place in this courtyard, and around the fountain (currently under construction).

Look closely! That’s me sitting Dylan McKay-style!

Sitting Dylan McKay-Style

Let’s see if you recognize any of these areas…

Come back tomorrow to see where the gang goes after high school graduation!
