News Roundup: Gossip Girl, 90210 and Dawson’s Creek

  • In the August 10 issue of PEOPLE, there’s a picture of Blair (Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl) and Chuck (Ed Westwick, Gossip Girl), as well as Kelly Rutherford (Lily, Gossip Girl), Kellan Lutz (George, 90210), and Rumer Willis (Gia, 9021o).
  • The same issue has a quote from Busy Philipps (Audrey, Dawson’s Creek) talking about Coachella.
  • And, lastly, that issue is the one with the Saved by the Bell cover story featuring an interview with Tiffani Amber Thiessen (Valerie, Beverly Hills 90210).  She doesn’t mention 90210 at all, just shares SBTB memories.
  • Enjoyed this part of an interview with Diane Kruger: “She’s also a regular on the fashion circuit, often accompanied by her longtime squeeze, Joshua Jackson, better known to a generation of women as Pacey Witter off Dawson’s Creek. What’s it like living with Pacey, then? ‘You know what, I’ve never seen Dawson’s Creek, because my mum didn’t really let us watch TV,’ she laughs. ‘He couldn’t believe it. He was, like, You’re the perfect girl for me, because you never saw me with pimples.’ Hasn’t he got a box set he could show you? ‘Well, yes, but I’m not sure if I should watch it. It might change my perception of him. When I met him, he’s a man, you know? I’m not sure I want to see his awkward teenage mode.'”

  • Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair (such a moutful!) signed a two-year contract to be the creative head behind 90210.  Guess they’re not only planning on a season two, but a third one as well!
  • Sinclair told Entertainment Weekly she’s open to having Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) come on the show but she doesn’t want it to look like a “stunt.”
  • Star Magazine is reporting that Brittany Snow (American Dreams) has been cast to play Lily in the Gossip Girl spin-off.  Star, however, is a tabloid that most often gets things wrongs.  So until I see confirmation elsewhere, there is no way I am going to believe it.  Coincidentally, Snow is who Michael Ausiello said should get the part.
  • According to their official site, No Doubt will appear on the May 11th episode of Gossip Girl.  This marks their second appearance on a teen drama, the first being Dawson’s Creek.
  • BuddyTV asks some really interesting questions about the next episode of One Tree Hill (which doesn’t air til mid-March).
  • One of the local news stations in North Carolina says One Tree Hill’s seventh season renewal is good for Wilmington’s economy.
  • Busy Philipps (Audrey, Dawson’s Creek) will likely be cast in a new Courteney Cox show called Cougar Town.

Random Question

1 02 2009

So I’ve been doing YouTube “research” for various series I’ll be posting in the future and one of my searches led me nowhere.

I cannot find a (decent) video that is a tribute to Dawson’s Creek AND includes Audrey (Busy Philipps).

Busy was a regular in seasons 5 and 6, and, as she was critical to a number of storylines, very much became part of the “gang.”

And yet, in any video I watch (including the one posted this morning), it’s like she never existed!

While I realize she wasn’t part of the core 4 (or 5 if you count Jack or 6 if you count Andie) but a true representation of the show through the years would include all the regulars.

Do you disagree about Audrey’s significance?

And do you know of any good videos that include her?
