Johansson (Dan, One Tree Hill; John, Beverly Hills 90210) turns 46 today!

In recent years we’ve become more used to seeing Johansson on OTH so I figured we could celebrate with one of his classic 90210 scenes.

And that episode was directed by Michael Lange!

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and Dawson’s Creek

  • When compared to their respective previous episodes, last week’s One Tree Hill (2.4 million viewers rounded up) dropped a decent amount in the ratings while Gossip Girl (2.2 million viewers) stayed the same. 90210 (2.1 million viewers) also had the same ratings.
  • As The CW brags about its ratings, The Hollywood Reporter points out its failure.
  • The Yale Daily News has a surprisingly accurate take (IMO, anyway) on the state of the teen drama genre.
  • OK! Magazine has an interview with Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill). Coincidentally, the writer and I were once sent to cover the same event.
  • Star News Online has quite possibly the best feature story I’ve ever read on Paul Johansson (Dan, One Tree Hill; John, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • Candy Spelling has confirmed that she and daughter Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) have reconciled.
  • Gossip Cop says rumors that Jessica Lowndes (Adrianna, 90210) is using co-star Rumer Willis (Gia, 90210) to get to stepdad Ashton Kutcher are false.
  • Power of Youth, which just honored Kellan Lutz (George, 90210) with one of their awards, is auctioning off a lunch date with him. The Miami Herald has a short interview with him.
  • This Ain’t Beverly Hills 90210 XXX is a porn spoof of the show. The trailer is actually pretty funny. (No nudity shown.)
  • TVGuide.com and TheDailyNewsOnline.com both have interviews with James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek).

Random Thought

I’ve said in previous posts that James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek; Dixon, One Tree Hill) and Chad Michael Murray (Lucas, One Tree Hill; Charlie, Dawson’s Creek) were the only 2 teen drama stars to have significant roles on two shows.

But there’s a third I usually fail to mention.

Paul Johansson, best known as Dan Scott on One Tree Hill, starred in 13 episodes of Beverly Hills 90210 as John Sears.

While other actors have certainly appeared on more than one teen drama–and sometimes on the same show in more than one role!–these three have had the most significant gigs.

  • Korbi has some spoilish 90210 pics.
  • Michelle Trachtenberg (Georgina, Gossip Girl) spoke with PEOPLE about her character–and coincidentally gave an explanation for why teen drama co-stars hook up.
  • Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill) is now considered a “regular” (aka, lead cast member) on the show.  Today is also his birthday!
  • Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) has a few new videos up on the Southern Gothic Productions blog.
  • Paul Johansson (Dan, One Tree Hill/John, Beverly Hills 90210) traveled overseas as one of the Ambassadors of Hollywood.
  • Shannon Lucio (Lindsey, The O.C.) will appear on Grey’s Anatomy.
