  • The Jerusalem Post has a feature on Darren Star, the creator of Beverly Hills 90210.
  • I’ve been hesitant to post Candy Spelling-Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) news from this weekend because I despise TMZ but PEOPLE.com is saying it’s legit, so here you go.
  • The London Free Press has an article on Luke Perry (Dylan, Beverly Hills 90210) and James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) but I’ve posted those quotes already.
  • In a chat with readers, two Boston Globe writers discussed The O.C.

Site of the Week

27 07 2009

Did you know Punk & Disorderly, Peyton’s web site on One Tree Hill, actually exists?

Peyton used the site primarily in season one to share her artwork as well as her thoughts.  Also through the site that you could “watch” her on the web cam.  (Actually you still can.  It’s kind of weird!)

There are other OTH sites, like RavensHoops.com and TreeHillHigh.com.

Making a legitimate site for fans was recently repeated on 90210, with Silver’s blog, The Vicious Circle.

Another example: a site jokingly mentioned on Dawson’s Creek–www.AnnoyingSister.com–used to redirect to their web site but no longer does.

Not sure if there are any others sites created for teen dramas that actually exist.  Do you know of any?

News Roundup: 90210, One Tree Hill and Dawson’s Creek

25 07 2009
  • Finally watched Wednesday’s Today Show, the last one Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) co-hosted.  She showed off her children’s clothing line and was the answer to a trivia question–who played Violet Bickerstaff on Saved by the Bell?
  • Star News has photos from recent One Tree Hill filming.
  • Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) supposedly now has an official site.  Honestly not sure though–also looks like it’s just a fan site.
  • BuddyTV has an article speculating on who will narrate OTH episodes this season.
  • Katie Holmes (Joey, Dawson’s Creek) is receiving a lot of flack for her So You Think You Can Dance performance.
  • Watch James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) tomorrow night in the first part of The Storm miniseries, 9pm on NBC.  Luke Perry (Dylan, Beverly Hills 90210) also stars.

News Roundup: 90210, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and More

24 07 2009
  • Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210) will be starring in a web series called The Broardroom.
  • The New York Post has an article on the Gossip Girl tour of New York City.
  • Just came across SophiaDaily.org, which doesn’t seem to be an official site for Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) but has tons of great pics, like these new ones.
  • Amber Wallace (Glenda, One Tree Hill) is now on Twitter.
  • According to Ashton Kutcher, one of the producers for The Beautiful Life, Mischa Barton (Marissa, The O.C.) is “doing great.”
  • In case you missed Katie Holmes (Joey, Dawson’s Creek) performong on So You Think You Can Dance, here’s a recap and a clip.
  • Hate to admit but I’m kind of loving this pic Perez Hilton posted of Holmes. Brings back memories.
  • TVGuide.com has an article on James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek).  The Globe and Mail has one, too.  All seem to be primarily the same quotes from a conference call.

James Van Der Beek on Life During & After Dawson’s Creek

24 07 2009

“I was pretty burnt out after six years on a series. And I don’t know that I was really ready to jump back in. One thing that’s happened, I will say in the past year, year-and-a-half is I’ve really started to rediscover my passion for acting and for being a part of a story and in a leading role capacity. So it’s fun. I’m really having a good time right now.

I think really the only thing to kind of avoid burnout is a level of appreciation that I don’t know you can really come to without stepping away from it for a little while. The hours are so intense. And the opportunities kind of come so fast and furious that it’s almost impossible to really be able to appreciate them to the level that you should. I was doing movies during the hiatuses and doing movies during and then doing press and photo shoots and all that kind of stuff. You know, and it was a six-year run. Is there anything I could have done to avoid it? I don’t know. I mean, I think now that I’m older and can kind of have a little bit different perspective on it, I’d like to think now that I can probably handle it not be burned out for so long.

I think also it started for me at age 20. I wasn’t in the place of really being able to handle everything that was thrown at me. And I came out OK, but what I would say for anybody going through it: “Just focus on the work, keep good people around you. And don’t believe the hype either way, good or bad. Just really keep it all about the work and make sure the people you’re surrounding yourself with are just high-quality human beings and you should be OK.

The one thing that I kind of came out of my experience with is a real compassion for anybody else who goes through the same thing. It’s very easy to stand on the outside and judge and look at people making bad decisions and say, “What the hell were they thinking?” Having gone through and been in the eye of that storm I think I would try to judge a lot less than your average person looking at somebody going through a train wreck.”

News Roundup: 90210, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and Dawson’s Creek

22 07 2009

  • The next round of the Gossip Girl bracket is available.
  • In The Dearly Departed category of the Sourcies, Bart Bass (Robert John Burke, Gossip Girl) and Quentin (Robbie Jones, One Tree Hill) are nominated.

  • Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley, One Tree Hill) has launched an official blog and posted a vlog.

  • In an interview, James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek; Dixon, One Tree Hill) said he might direct an episode of OTH. There’s a few other goodies in there, too.

James Van Der Beek on Working With Luke Perry

22 07 2009

Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson's Creek) and Perry (Dylan, Beverly Hills 90210) star in The Storm, airing Sunday on NBC.

Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson's Creek) and Perry (Dylan, Beverly Hills 90210) star in The Storm, airing Sunday on NBC.

“I tried to get as much out of him as I could. I was fascinated. I think he’s a little bit further past it so it wasn’t as present for him. But yes, it was really interesting. It always is, to talk to somebody who’s been through something so unique like that. Because it’s something you could only really know from the inside. So it’s fun. There’s kind of the mutual understanding for … something bizarre that really doesn’t make sense on so many levels. But … it’s fun. And Luke is a great guy. He’s got a great perspective on it. And, yes, I really did enjoy the time in between setups.”
