Tori Spelling Quotes

17 02 2009

On filming the new 90210:

“I found Donna inside [me]. Donna’s still there!”

On her late father, Aaron, who helped create the original series:

“He always intended to make a 90210 for the new generation, so I think he’s probably going, ‘It’s about time!’

All-Time Favorite Couples Pt. 2

Part One

4. Lucas and Peyton (One Tree Hill)

One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn once said ,”From the pilot we designed a world where Lucas and Peyton are meant to be together.”  Though they have spent much of the series’ 6 seasons apart, I believe the show still managed to be true to that world.  Watching them build a friendship and harbor crushes, getting closer only to get pushed apart, kept the emotions of both the characters and the fans raw and passionate.  Us Leyton fans seemed to get what we wanted, finally, at the middle of season 4…only to be shocked when we saw–four years into the future–they were no longer together.  But their history–as friends, lovers and more–kept the relationship alive whether they were together or apart.  When they were, it was total bliss.  When they weren’t, I yearned for them to be together, much like Peyton herself did.  When Lucas asks Peyton to marry him (the second time) and they resume their romantic relationship, it is a culmination of what the writers and characters worked towards for so many years.  I cannot imagine an ending to the show where they are not together and hopefully I won’t have to.

No new 90210 tonight!

90210 will be on repeats until the end of March.

Tonight and Wednesday night they’re re-airing That Which We Destroy.

News Roundup: 90210, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill

17 02 2009
  • The back cover art for the Beverly Hills, 90210 season 7 DVD box is out and it looks like, once again, there won’t be any special features.  That is NOT okay!
  • Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles did really poorly in the ratings after switching to Friday nights.  If the show is canceled–and it’s looking more and more likely–Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) would be free to appear on the new 90210.
  • An expert on peer abuse wrote a post on why Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord, 90210) is not a bully.
  • McCord is the HD Hottie of the Day on TVPredictions.com.
  • We’ll get our first peek at the Gossip Girl spin-off in May when Krysten Ritter (who will play Lily’s sister Carol) appears in a flashback.
  • TVGuide.com says Gossip Girl is “starting to stink.”  The article identifies some of the show’s problems and suggests solutions.  Curious to know your thoughts!
  • Surprisingly, things are going well for The CW as a whole.  Lets hope that means One Tree Hill (which has been doing better than Gossip Girl in the ratings!) will be renewed!  Unfortunately, not everyone is so positive about the network’s future.
  • Daytime soap (and one of my faves!) Guiding Light is bringing back the character of Michelle Bauer, who was at one point played by Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley, One Tree Hill).  Guess that means Galeotti could have another job if OTH doesn’t work out.

Site of the Week

16 02 2009

The site of the week is Wikipedia…sort of.

Let me explain.

Wikipedia has the most thorough listing of every “teen drama” ever made.

The list not only includes programs that I don’t even consider to be traditional teen dramas (which, in my opinion, are the ones covered by this site) but also shows that are from other countries.

Wikipedia isn’t always accurate but this list, my site of the week, is a great way to familiarize yourself with what else is out there.

All-Time Favorite Couples

16 02 2009

As TeenDramaWhore.com nears the end of its second month (time flies!), I figured it was time to get personal.  Like favorite couple-personal.

One of the biggest connections audiences have to teen dramas is the couple they root for.  Couples are at the core of all these shows, sparking devotion and debate.

To help us get to know each other better, this week I’ll be presenting my 5 personal all-time favorite couples.  If you look closely, you should be able to find a common theme among my choices that explains why I prefer these particular couples. Please share your thoughts–and your picks!–in the comments.

5.  Marissa Cooper and Ryan Atwood (The O.C.)

Part of the initial attraction to The O.C. was the dynamic between the spoiled pretty Marissa and the rough tough new boy Ryan.  The chemistry between these two characters from different worlds was powerful from the start.  Even after they got together, the course of love never did run smooth for Ryan and Marissa.  They broke up and got back together several times during the series, before any promise of a future was abruptly taken away when Marissa tragically died at the end of the third season.  Any argument that they are meant to be failed since they could never end up together.  Still, theirs was a love of passion and pain and I loved every minute of it.

News Roundup: 90210, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and More

16 02 2009
  • Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) would “love” to star in one of the upcoming Terminator movies.
  • Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) admits she was “nervous” to film her appearance on the new 90210.
  • Tori and Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 9021o) participated in a charity show at New York’s Fashion Week. While there, they gave a short interview to TVGuide.com about their 90210 reunion.
  • EW.com has a promo clip of an upcoming Smallville episode which features Tori as a guest star.  (So much Tori news today!)
  • Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) has been spotted at the mega fashion event, as have Jessica Stroup (Silver, 90210) and Michelle Trachtenberg (Georgina, Gossip Girl).
  • Bevin Prince (Bevin, One Tree Hill) is one of the co-stars in a film coming out next month. (Read the article and see if you can find the Dawson’s Creek reference!)
  • Bravo is planning a real-life Gossip Girl series, about, well, rich kids in private school.
  • MTV named Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl) one of its 5 hottest single guys.
  • An article about random cross-over couples suggests pairing Chuck (Ed Westwick, Gossip Girl) with one of the Ugly Betty characters.
  • In a post completely unrelated to teen dramas, Gawker inadvertently included a great Ryan-Marissa (The O.C.) video.

YouTube Video of the Week

15 02 2009

Chad Michael Murray is one of just two actors in the teen drama genre with a special distinction: he’s had a significant role on two series!  CMM appeared on 12 episodes of Dawson’s Creek circa 2001-2002.  His character, Charlie Todd, wooed both Jen and Joey.

Just a year-and-a-half later he made his debut as Lucas, one of the lead characters on One Tree Hill.

Here’s a look at CMM’s appearances on DC.

CMM was the only one to hold this distinction until a few months ago when James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) began appearing on One Tree Hill as Dixon.  Now both CMM and James have appeared on each other’s shows and acted in scenes together!

Coincidentally, CMM and Hilarie Burton (Peyton) shared one scene on Dawson’s Creek as well, when she guest-starred as herself.  This was, obviously, pre-OTH.

Best Season-Ending Cliff-Hangers Pt. 5

15 02 2009

Part One, Part Two, Part Three, Part Four

The last in my season-ending cliff-hangers series is devoted to The O.C.  In its four seasons, The O.C. had some of the most breath-taking season-ending cliff-hangers I’ve ever seen.  When you add in the cliff-hanger from the first section of season one, it’s all just overwhelming! Here they are in chronological order, which also happens to be–in my opinion–in order of increasing excellence.

1A. The O.C.: The Escape (Season One)

1B. The O.C.: The Ties That Bind (Season One)

1C. The O.C.: The Dearly Beloved (Season Two)

1D. The O.C.: The Graduates (Season Three)–THE BEST TEEN DRAMA SEASON-ENDING CLIFF-HANGER
