RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Question: Please give me some scoop about Jenny’s return to Gossip Girl! —Giovanni
Ausiello:
I was right. Jenny reappearance is directly connected to Tim Gunn’s upcoming cameo. Turns out Blair permits her nemesis to return to the scene of her last crime (i.e. Manhattan) just long enough for her to interview for a job with Gunn at Parsons. Without giving too much away, Raccoon Eyes inadvertently gets caught up in Chuck and Blair’s latest drama, and the whole mess comes to a head at (natch) a big fancy party.

Question: I will literally take anything you’ve got on One Tree Hill. —Jasmine
Ausiello:
A major-ish character is going to do some time in the slammer this season. That’s literally all I’ve got.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

So we got Jenny out of the way for a while. How else will Gossip Girl change? — Milan
MICKEY:
Until Little J (Taylor Momsen) makes her inevitable, splashy, Serena-like re-entrance on to the Manhattan scene, I’m hearing that the plan is to give Connor Paolo (who plays Eric van der Woodsen) more screen time next season, including a boyfriend who will stick around for a while.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Any scoop on what 90210 has planned for their season finale? — Amber
The TV Addict: Would it surprise you to learn an nod to iconic original series star Emily Valentine? No really. Whether it be by happy accident or not, 90210’s May 18 season finale will go out with a bang when things really start to heat up on Liam’s boat after a certain somebody who-shall-not-be-named discovers that Annie and Liam are a little too dedicated to practicing “safe boating” in the form of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Will Chuck and Blair end the season on a happily ever after? I’m worried for them. — Stacey
The TV Addict: We’re not so worried about Blair — who will have until the credits role on GOSSIP GIRL’s May 17 season finale to decide whether or not to meet Chuck at the top of the Empire State Building — as much as we’re worried for all of Manhattan. For as it turns out, April showers brings May shockers… in the form of Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg) who returns to Manhattan… with a vengeance.

Exclusive: Amanda Setton Gossips On Penelope and Her One Life To Live Role

18 10 2009

She used to be a gossiping girl but now she only has one life to live.  Punny?  Yes.  But it’s the truth.  Gossip Girl’s Amanda Setton has bid adieu to Penelope and entered the world of daytime soap operas, with a role on One Life to Live.

Check out our interview below to find out what she really thought of Penelope’s gossiping ways, why she can’t stop laughing and her take on those headbands.

TeenDramaWhore: What attracted you to the role of Penelope on Gossip Girl?

Amanda Setton: Penelope seemed like a fun and interesting girl.  A girl who is as far from myself as I could get but yet am so intrigued by.  I figured it would be such a fun experience to not only take on this character herself, but live in this fantastical world of popularity, wealth, and decadence that seemed too delicious to pass up.

TDW: We both grew up on Long Island, where some of the girls–let’s say–have similarities to the Gossip Girl characters.  Was your high school experience like what we see on Gossip Girl?

Setton: Not at all.  I was the vice president of my high school theatre club.  Not exactly  the “coolest” club in school but it was truly my home.  We had the time of our life and didn’t even think about what other people thought of us.  My friend’s and my idea of a fun Saturday night in high school was watching a movie, making some sort of piece of clothing, bag, or jewelry, and watching a movie.  Though they weren’t my friends, there were definitely those around us who possessed similar traits to the Gossip Girl characters.

TDW: If you could change one thing about Penelope, what would it be?

Setton: I actually love her. Personally, I think she’s hilarious in an extremely over the top way.  Her overall sense of entitlement and snarky attitude is just hysterical.  But, if I had to choose one thing, it would definitely be her blatant affection for headbands. 🙂

TDW: We haven’t seen much of Penelope’s family or love life.  What parts of the character would you have liked to see developed more?

Setton: I would have loved to get to know her parents.  How old were they? Where did they come from?  Did they always have money? Does she have any siblings? An older sister, perhaps. Even though I’ve answered all of these questions in my head, I think it would have been interesting for the audience to get more of a window into where she comes from.

TDW: Nothing was mentioned about Penelope going to college.  Will we see her at all this season?

Setton: Since we did graduate from high school and the producers are taking the show into new territory with college, I’m not exactly sure where the mean girls would fit in.  As of right now, we haven’t shot anything yet but who knows what the scripts may bring?  You never know.  All I know is we’ll always have a home there.

TDW: Being from a NYC suburb, did you have the opportunity to experience any of the sights and sounds we see on the show?

Setton: I spent a lot of time in Manhattan during my high school years but in a completely different scene than the one presented on the show.  The NYC parties I attended definitely were not catered with a DJ.  Unless it was a bar or bat mitzvah!

TDW: You just debuted on One Life to Live.  Tell me about your role.

Setton: I play the role of Kimberly Andrews, a stripper from Vegas who comes to help her best friend through some troubled times. Although Kim is a bit manipulative and sneaky, she also has a really compassionate side for those she cares about.  The friendship she has with Stacy Morasco is so real, so authentic, that its nice to see these moments of humanity and vulnerability through an extremely tough skin. Over all, Kim has been such a blast to play.  She cracks me up.  Everyday on set I’m actually laughing out loud.

TDW: What differences do you see between working on a daytime soap and a primetime one?

Setton: Well, Gossip Girl is shot as a single camera show.  Meaning it’s shot like a movie, each week.  Therefore there are a lot more takes and every scene takes a lot more time.  One Life To Live is shot like a sitcom, with up to 4 or 5 cameras shooting at once allowing them to catch every moment from every angle.  They are challenging in their own ways; very different but both very informative.  I learned so much from Gossip Girl and am so happy to have the opportunity to learn more and gain new experience at One Life To Live.

TDW: Do you have any other upcoming projects?

Setton: Not right now.  I’m really focusing on Kim.  She and I have become really close :).

TDW: There are a lot of fake accounts on Twitter for celebrities, particularly the Gossip Girl cast.  Can you confirm whether or not you’re on there?

Setton: I am not on Twitter.

Come back next Sunday for another exclusive interview!

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

From Monica in Chicago: Are Chuck and  Blair finally really hooking up?

It certainly would seem so! According to looky loos in NYC, Leighton Meester (Blair) and Ed Westwick (Chuck) spent much of the day today locking lips in front of the Sony offices in Manhattan, shooting an upcoming scene for Gossip Girl. Holfreakingler. Of course, in usual Blair and Chuck fashion, getting to this apparent state of bliss is not easy. Keep reading down to the spoiler section for what lies ahead.

Heath in Redondo Beach, Calif.: What happens with Chuck and Blair!?

Here’s what I can tell you:

  1. Chuck is coming to his senses (about luuuhhhving Blair).
  2. Blair is hooking up with Carter Baizen, played by Leighton’s real-life boyfriend, Sebastian Stan, who just so happens to play a dead ringer for Chuck Bass on NBC’s Kings. Some girls get all the naughty boys with smoldering good looks!
  3. Blair is hooking up with Nate.
  4. You’ll be surprised at how much the Blair-Nate repairing does not suck (at least, not in its initial stages). Honest.
  5. Chuck and Blair = So. Not. Over. For proof, see photo above!

Deirdre in Boston: Give us some good gossip on Gossip Girl or I’ll cry!
Well, we can’t have that now, can we?

  1. Serena is arrested, and you won’t believe who calls the cops on her.
  2. Rufus buys an engagement ring!
  3. Prom is coming up, and I ask you, what’s a Gossip Girl prom without a little roofie action?

Marsden in New Jersey: I’m loving One Tree Hill. Anything good coming up?
You longtime fans will love the finale. Two beloved characters return! Guesses? Also, the dearly departed Q, aka Robbie Jones, tells me that his new ABC pilot, Limelight, starts shooting this week and that someone from Heroes has been added to the cast. Stay tuned for next week’s Heroes Redux to find out who.

Decker in Miami: Anything on Ethan and Annie on 90210?
Things aren’t looking too hot. Adrianna accidentally spills the beans to Annie that Ethan cheated on her. They end up breaking up, but that doesn’t mean Rhonda (Aimee Teegarden) will stick around. Ethan wants to be a single man for a while.

Marcia in Chapel Hill, N.C.: 90210 scoop? Is Brenda really adopting Adrianna’s baby?
No, Adrianna and Navid decide to keep the baby and get engaged. I’m also hearing that someone is transferring schools midsemester. And Naomi moves in with the Wilsons.
