While commenting on the news of Greg Vaughn being let go from GH, I made a comment about the connection between him, BAG, and Jonathon Jackson. This had me thinking about the many connections that you can find to the main teen dramas. I’d think it be fun to have like a weekly post naming one celebrity and challenging the readers to find how they connect to the shows, some actors would have multiple connections. For instance, let’s say Angelina Jolie…..
Angeline Jolie starred in Gia with Elizabeth Mitchell, who starred on Lost with Matthew Fox. Matthew Fox starred on Party of Five with Neve Campbell and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Neve Campbell starred in Scream with Rose McGowan, Jennifer Love Hewitt starred in I Know What You Did Last Summer with Sarah Michelle Gellar. Rose McGowan replaced Shannon Doherty on Charmed, and Sarah Michelle Gellar starred on Buffy with Michelle Trachtenberg (Gossip Girl). This doesn’t even mention that Rose McGowan starred in Jawbreaker with Rebecca Gayheart (who played Dylan’s wife on 90210). There are at least 2 more ways I can connect Angelina to our favorite dramas. I work at Blockbuster part-time and have an overwhelmingly silly amount of knowledge regarding actor’s careers. I just thought this would be like a fun weekly quiz.
I think Sane’s idea is great and we’ll start doing it under the name Six Degrees of Teen Dramas. Starting today, each Saturday I’ll post a new person. From there, it’s your job to connect that person to at least one of the teen dramas. Here’s the first one:
Will Smith
Ready, set, go!
I don’t know if this counts, but Will Smith was an executive producer of ‘The Secret Life of Bees’, which both Hilarie Burton (One Tree Hill) and Tristan Wilds (90210) played roles in.
Oh another one, Will Smith was the star of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and he acted alongside Tyra Banks who had a recurring role. Tyra Banks recently guest starred on Gossip Girl!
g90210th, I had the same Tyra Banks connection lol 😉 …
TDW, I have a small ? … When you post someone’s name (i.e. Will Smith) do you already have a connectinon in mind and we are challenged to find it, or is it a random actor and you don’t know if/how they connect? (P.S. I know that was a really confusing question lol)
Ok so Will Smith starred in “Six Degrees of Separation” (funnily enough) with Heather Graham who had a recurring role in “Scrubs” with Sarah Chalke who featured in “How I Met Your Mother” with Joe Manganiello who played Owen in One Tree Hill
Wow, those are all great connections!
Alyssa, to answer your question: No, I did not have a connection in mind (the ones you guys gave above are all new to me) and probably won’t. The fun is trying to take someone completely random with seemingly no obvious connection so we can find the bizarre, obscure way that there is one. If I already know it, chances are you do, too, and that’s no fun!
First thought that comes to mind is that he voiced the main character in Shark Tale, alongside Angelina Jolie. So, all of her connections would apply and now all of his would apply to her. I’ll probably think of a few more since he’s been in so many movies, but I’ll come back for that.
Ha, I literally just turned on my tv and I Am Legend is on. Unfortunately, there is basically only two other people in this movie with him, doesn’t leave a lot of room.
LOL, Sane. Too funny.
Ok, I really shouldn’t be still thinking of this at one in the morning, but I have remembered a couple other connections.
Will Smith costarred with both Nia Long (Fresh Prince) and Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day). Both ladies costarred in Soul Food with Mekhi Pheifer who was in 8 Mile with Kim Bassinger. Kim Bassinger was just in the Informers with Austin Nichols (Julian, OTH).
Will Smith also co-starred with the kid with the big head who played Nicky on Fresh Prince. That same little boy played Buckwheat in the Little Rascals, which had a cameo by Reba. Reba had her own sitcom which also starred Joanna Garcia (Privileged 😦 and Gossip Girl)
Also,he and Jada are close friends with Tom Cruise and Mrs. Josephine Potter herself.
Sane, you are so good at this! Quite impressive.
