News Roundup: 90210, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and More

  • The drama beteween Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) and her mother Candy is still going on, according to PEOPLE.
  • Spelling spoke with Extra about her views on the Gosselin family, and whether she’ll ever participate in Dancing with the Stars. (Ian Ziering [Steve, Beverly Hills 90210] and Jennie Garth [Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210] have already competed!)
  • EW.com posted an adorable clip of Garth and husband Peter Facinelli (from Twilight and Nurse Jackie) on Cheslsea Lately back in February. (Also worth noting that Facinelli co-starred with Tiffani-Amber Thiessen [Valerie, Beverly Hills 90210] on the series Fastlane back in 2002!)
  • Thiessen got a shout-out on last night’s Jimmy Fallon Show when “Zack Morris” made an appearance to discuss the proposed Saved by the Bell reunion.  Thiessen, who played Kelly Kapowski, hasn’t agreed to it yet.
  • Jacksonville.com has an article on the “90210 effect”–the new trend of remaking once-popular television shows.

  • The short-lived hook-up between Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) is up for “sex scene that made you want to throw out your TV” in the Tater Tops Awards.  (Ironically, the couple is still going strong in real life.  I’m just full of fun facts today!)
  • Westwick told E! Online that the craziest rumor he’s heard about himself is that he is having weight troubles.
  • Westwick, Leighton Meester (Blair, Gossip Girl) and Jackson Brundage (Jamie, One Tree Hill) are all included in SoapNet’s Our Favorite Overlooked Actors gallery.
  • Autumn Reeser (Taylor, The O.C.) shared her wedding details with PEOPLE.com.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Adam in Corona, Calif.: Any news on Gossip Girl yet? What about Dan and Serena for season three?
It’s too early to say for sure, but our sources tell us that next year on Gossip Girl does not look like the Year of “Dan Serena Dan Serena whoo!” At this point it looks like you can expect more of a brother-sister vibe from Dan and Serena (remember, they do share a half-sibling, Chris Riggi‘s Scott), rather than a whole epic love story thing, à la Chuck and Blair.

Rachel in Seattle: Is Georgina going to be Blair’s roommate next season on Gossip Girl?
While we know Michelle Trachtenberg is tied to NBC’s new medical drama, Mercy, she will be causing some trouble for Blair. Leighton Meester tells us, “Blair is going to NYU, so she might have some trouble there on her own regardless, but maybe Georgina will be coming in to stir some stuff up. I really like working with her, so it’s good.”

According to Entertainment Weekly’s Ausiello, One Tree Hill’s seventh season may take place one year after the sixth season finale.

OTH famously did a four-year time jump between the fourth and fifth seasons, earning both critical praise and higher ratings.

Thoughts?!

Teen Drama’s Best Episode Titles

8 06 2009

Almost all television series have creative titles for each of their episodes.  For the next few days, I’ll share with you some of my favorites from each of our beloved teen dramas.

BEVERLY HILLS, 90210

Shooting Star/American in Paris, Episode 3.5: Really like the first part, particularly because it applies to Kelly and Dylan, my all-time all-series favorite couple.

The Time Has Come Today, 4.25: A retro line very fitting of this 1960s flashback episode

Mr. Walsh Goes to Washington, 4.31-32: A clever and fitting play on a classic movie title.

The Dreams of Dylan McKay, 5.10: Probably the most accurate episode title ever.

Hate is Just a Four-Letter Word, 5.11: I like it because it’s not true, and that’s exactly the point of the episode.

Unreal World, 5.24.: Another clever and fitting play on another classic piece of pop culture.

The Real McCoy, 5.29: Same as above.

P.S., I Love You, 5.31-32: Isn’t this what we all long to hear?

One Wedding and a Funeral, 6.10: Yet another clever and fitting play on a classic movie title.  Also probably the saddest 90210 episode ever, even if the title gives the whole plot away.

The Way We Weren’t, 8.4: Anddddd another clever and fitting play on a movie title.  Are you sensing a theme here?

The Morning After, 9.1: Is there a better title for the episode after Kelly and Brandon’s failed wedding?  I think not.

Doc Martin, 10.17: A fitting tribute.

Ever Hear the One About the Exploding Father?, 10.20: Perfect given the episode’s plot and since it’s a nod to longtime fans.

The Penultimate, 10.27: What else do you call the second to last episode of a series?

Tomorrow, on to Dawson’s Creek!

Spoiler: Ask Ausiello

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Question: I must confess, I’m kind of loving the idea of Brian Austin Green on One Tree Hill. –Jules
Ausiello:
Well, I hope you don’t love it too much, because I’m hearing the deal may be unraveling. Word is Green’s reps got spooked by the negative spin some bloggers were putting on their client doing OTH. As a result, they may be getting cold feet. Personally, I can’t see Green walking away from a gig that could potentially fetch him north of $1.5 million. Of course, that’s the same figure Chad Michael Murray said no to, so who knows? In their defense, $75K a week — after taxes and agency fees — does not go very far these days. I know that more than anyone.
