News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl and Dawson’s Creek

5 10 2009
  • This by far the BEST One Tree Hill article I have seen in quite a while.  It’s about time someone addressed the obvious: the show outperforms many others on The CW but rarely gets any love.  Here’s hoping this changes that from now on!
  • And this is a step in the right direction!  The Futon Critic has an interview with Mark Schwahn.  He said some interesting things about Leyton, Dan and (unfortunately) Alex.
  • Starpulse has an interview with Robert Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill).
  • India de Beaufort (Miranda, One Tree Hill) confirmed that her Twitter account is real.  For more accounts, see my Twitter Directory.
  • Grant Show (Jake, Beverly Hills 90210) is also now on Twitter.
  • Matt Lanter (Liam, 90210) and Michael Steger (Navid, 90210) spoke with E!Online about Samantha Ronson’s upcoming cameo.
  • Korbi has a video interview with Steger and another video interview with Jessica Lowndes (Adrianna, 90210).
  • Rumors of Jessica Lowdnes (Adrianna, 90210) and Kellan Lutz (George, 90210) dating are false.
  • BuzzGloss has an interview with Lori Loughlin (Debbie, 90210) but 90210 isn’t mentioned.
  • ChicagoNow has an interview with Penn Badgley (Dan, Gossip Girl).
  • I had no idea Tom Kapinos (executive producer, Dawson’s Creek) created Californication!  You learn something new every day…

  • According to a study by LiveHive Systems, One Tree Hill has the most social impact (aka social engagement) of any show on the air last season. The new 90210 was a distant second, followed by Jon and Kate Plus 8. “One Tree Hill’s top performance in the Social Engagement Index is the combination of a story format that is well suited to active social discussion and interactivity, and a demographic that gravitates to multi-platform media consumption,” says the press release.

  • Chuck (Ed Westwick, Gossip Girl) and Blair (Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl) are nominated for Hottest Hook-Up in the Tubey Awards.
  • In the August 7 issue of Entertainment Weekly, the mag takes a snipe at Taylor Momsen (Jenny, Gossip Girl): “Taylor Momsen says ‘I would eat a boy my age alive.’ Well, at least she’d be eating something.” (Momsen’s quote is from her Teen Vogue interview.)
  • Also in that issue, Kristen Bell (Gossip Girl, Gossip Girl) is not “seriously campaigning to appear on screen.
  • Celebrity-babies.com has an article on Kelly Rutherford (Lily, Gossip Girl) hiding her pregnancy last season.
  • Alexandra Patsavas, the music supervisor for Gossip Girl, shares some of her favorite “up-and-coming artists,” including Noisettes who will appear on One Tree Hill this season.
  • E! Online has video interviews with some of the Gossip Girl cast and a somewhat-spoilish article on One Tree Hill’s new season.

News Roundup: 90210, Gossip Girl, and More

13 04 2009
  • Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) has refuted some of her mother’s claims in a new article.  Both of their books are reviewed in the April 17th issue of Entertainment Weekly.  You can also read the reviews here, as well as another Tori article from the mag.
  • Newsday put together a lot of Tori-related content, including a photo gallery and an article previewing her return to 90210.

  • The April 10th issue of Entertainment Weekly is filled with teen drama content: there’s a small piece on Southland, which includes photos of Ben McKenzie (Ryan, The O.C.) and Michael Cudlitz (Tony, Beverly Hills 90210) during their TD days; Penelope’s (Amanda Setton) “In the last 20 minutes, I’ve been hit on by two Bronfmans and a gay designer.  It was totally worth it” line from the most recent Gossip Girl was included in the weekly SoundBites feature.  Unfortunately, so was Joel McHale’s recent quip on The Soup: “One Tree Hill can be described in many ways: unflinching cure for insomnia, worst show to take place on a hill, and inexcusable misuse of Chad Michael Murray would all work.”; Tori Spelling vs. Candy Spelling made The Bullseye, as did the news that Milligan is leaving 90210.
