Happy Birthday Chad Michael Murray!

24 08 2009

Murray (Lucas, One Tree Hill; Charlie, Dawson’s Creek) turns 28 today.

Let’s celebrate with this sexy video.

Random Question

22 08 2009

It’s technically old news already: One Tree Hill stars Hilarie Burton (Peyton) and Chad Michael Murray (Lucas) will not be back for season 7. But even though we’ve had a few months to digest it, many of us are still far from accepting it.

I think part of the uneasiness stems from the way it all went down.  For months there were rumors that Burton and CMM were leaving, that they were being forced out, not paid enough, or there were creative differences, a desire to move on.

Then Burton posted this mysterious video, where–with tears in her eyes–she more or less said she was leaving the show but that it wasn’t really her choice (at least that’s how I interpreted it).

We didn’t get the official confirmation until months later and even that was vague.  Yes, they are leaving and yes, there will be a season 7.

Here’s my question: Did Burton want to leave?

There’s been a lot of speculation that CMM wanted out, and because of Leyton’s storyline, that meant Burton had to go, too.

But with Burton’s growing company, Southern Gothic Productions, it seems that it would’ve been difficult for her to continue with One Tree Hill and run a business.  Maybe she was ready to move on, as well.

I don’t think we’ll ever know the truth–at least not anytime soon–but I was wondering what you all thought.

Also: had Chad and Hilarie returned for seventh season, what do you think was left for their characters to do? What storylines would you have liked to see?

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl and Dawson’s Creek

21 08 2009
  • Chad Michael Murray (Lucas, One Tree Hill) was on a radio show for a charity in Buffalo. I think this is the first press he’s done since he left the show.
  • SoGoPro’s first webseries, Friendship Union Community Theater launched today.  You can watch it here.  Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) also posted a vlog to go with it.
  • According to a study by LiveHive Systems, One Tree Hill has the most social impact (aka social engagement) of any show on the air last season. The new 90210 was a distant second, followed by Jon and Kate Plus 8. “One Tree Hill’s top performance in the Social Engagement Index is the combination of a story format that is well suited to active social discussion and interactivity, and a demographic that gravitates to multi-platform media consumption,” says the press release.
  • PopSugar posted photos of some of the 90210 cast at a recent event.
  • Will.I.Am of the  Black Eyed Peas explains his connection to Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) in an MTV article.

Mark Schwahn on Naley

20 08 2009

“You know, when we started the show, we were coming on the heels of “Dawson’s Creek.” They were shooting their finale when we were shooting our pilot, so when people saw our first episode, they were sure that Haley and Lucas would be together, because Dawson and Joey had [a similar dynamic]. But we had always designed it as Nathan and Haley. In my mind, Nathan and Haley have always been a cornerstone of the show.”

  • One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and 90210 are all nominated for Best Family Drama in the CW Sourcies.
  • You can get a preview of the upcoming One Tree Hill podcasts.
  • One Tree Hill is having trouble securing the location for a scene involving a character jumping off a bridge.

  • MTV called Gossip Girl the “definitive music taste-making TV show on the air,” “picking] up where shows like ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and ‘The O.C.’ left off.”  I would argue that the original 90210 and One Tree Hill did a lot more for music than Dawson’s Creek did.

  • John Driscoll (Blossom, Dawson’s Creek; guest star, One Tree Hill) is the Weekly Crush on SoapNet.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Any word yet on how they’re going to explain Lucas and Peyton’s sudden absence from the coming season of One Tree Hill now that the actors aren’t returning? It’s killing me! — Samantha D.
ADAM: A show rep suggests that it will involve a bit of rebooting. “Obviously, we have new stories to tell, but at the same time, this season very much feels like classic One Tree Hill.” How so? “Some characters might be in an episode for just one scene, but it’s a scene that serves the story and the serialized nature of our season.” Translation: They haven’t figured it out yet.

Is it true that Liam and Naomi break up this season on 90210? I hope not; I like them together! — Shanti
MICKEY: With all the double-crossing that went on between them, I thought they kind of deserved each other. But I have bad news for you, Shanti. My 90210 moles are rumbling about two new characters who appear to spell the end of Liomi (Naoliam? I’m bad at this). A sexy surfer hottie will spar with Liam on the beach, and Naomi will fake an interest in the environment to snare her new do-gooder, college-aged boyfriend.

What will Tiffani Thiessen do on USA’s White Collar? Is it anything like what she did on Fastlane? Or Beverly Hills, 90210? Or Saved By the Bell?  — Manny
MICKEY: Thiessen plays Elizabeth, wife to Tim DeKay’s FBI Agent Peter Stokes, and she’ll be inspired by Laura Linney’s work in HBO’s John Adams, if executive producer Jeff Eastin is to be believed. (Yes, you read that right.) Eastin asked the actress to watch Linney’s performance as the devoted wife and trusted presidential advisor. “What I loved about Abigail Adams in that show was you had someone who was incredibly supportive of her husband but was a really strong person in her own right,” Eastin says. “That was sort of the catalyst to start molding Elizabeth.” Intrigued?

I love Raising the Bar, and I was wondering if you have any scoop on the final three episodes of the season? — Caroline
ADAM: Monday’s episode will be a battle of the teen-show all-stars, and first prize is Zack Morris’ heart. Jerry’s budding relationship with Bobbi (Saved by the Bell: The New Class vet Natalia Cigliuti) hits yet another snag when he’s wooed by a gang expert played by Meredith Monroe (Dawson’s Creek‘s Andie).

***

Some notes…

What both the rep and Adam fail to mention is that the show is skipping ahead one year, which will help explain Leyton’s absence and transition to the new storylines.

Pretty sure that surfer girl ends up with Dixon, not Liam.  And isn’t Naomi pretending to be who she’s not the same thing she did with Liam?

Lastly, Natalia Cigliuti was also on Beverly Hills 90210 as Chloe.

Random Thought 2

10 08 2009

Yes,  it’s two random thoughts in one day.

I really couldn’t wait any longer to post this one because I am…furious.

That’s right, furious.

So what has me so mad?

Twitter fakers. More specifically, teen drama impersonators.

These are people that pretend to be so-and-so from whatever show but really aren’t. All their tweets are made-up lies or the content is stolen from elsewhere. And what makes it worse is that thousands of fans think they are real.

Christy-Anne at OTH Twitter Bugs started her site to stop this very thing. She’s been successful at getting fake accounts shut down but it seems every day, more and more pop up.

This post was inspired by a particularly egregious example that came to a head today. There is one Twitter account that is proclaiming to be Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley, One Tree Hill). This person has stolen TwitPics from the official OTH account and even stolen the design, layout and content from Galeotti’s official site to create their own. Yes, this person created a site that looks just like Galeotti’s–except it isn’t.

Christy-Anne, who has been in touch with Galeotti’s people, has confirmed that this and all Twitter accounts for her are fake. Same goes for Sophia Bush (Brooke), Chad Michael Murray (Lucas), etc.

These fakers are disgusting human beings, and I hope that comes off as harsh as I mean it to. What possesses you to pretend to be someone else? What makes you want to dupe thousands of genuine fans?  If you are such fans of the show and the actors, why would you disrespect them this way?

What these people don’t seem to know is that what they’re doing is illegal. It is a crime in this country to impersonate someone else. And as Christy-Ann has shown, lawyers are willing to get involved.

I also don’t understand the fans that follow these accounts. Most of the time, they are so obviously fake. Every time you follow one, you are giving them undue legitimacy. We as true fans deserve more and I have to question the maturity, intelligence and loyalty of any fan that falls prey to these scams.

So how do you know if an account is real? First, see if it has the Twitter verified seal on it. All celebrities have been encouraged to register with the company in order to show their legitimacy. If they don’t have the seal, check with TruthTweet and Valebrity, two very reputable databases of celebrity accounts. Lastly, check with official sites for the network, show and the celebs themselves. If they are not confirmed in any of those places, odds are they fake.

Remember, anyone can make up a tweet that sounds real, or link to a site that isn’t their’s or even pass off a tabloid photo as their own. There are some accounts right now that I am questioning, ones for Leighton Meester (Blair, Gossip Girl), Taylor Momsen (Jenny, Gossip Girl), Autumn Reeser (Taylor, The O.C.), etc. Until they meet any of the above standards, or until I get conformation from their publicists, I have to assume they are fake. If they turn out to be real, I will make my apologies right here on this site. But you can’t blame me for being careful. Unlike some other people, I do want to look out for fellow fans.

To find out which teen drama stars are or aren’t on Twitter, search “Twitter” in the search bar and all the relevant posts will come up.
