Best Season-Ending Cliff-Hangers

11 02 2009

There’s one thing we simultaneously love and dread about our beloved teen dramas: the cliff-hanger.  While these plot twists guarantee drama to the nth degree, we’re left hanging–jaws dropped, hands in the air and heart palpitating–to see what will happen next.  And when the powers that be decide to use these cliff-hangers as season finales, we spend three months with baited breath, wondering how these stories will conclude.

Starting today I’ll take a look back at the most memorable season-ending cliff-hangers.  If these didn’t get you screaming at your TV, I don’t know what will!

5A. One Tree Hill: The Games That Play Us (Season 1)

5B. One Tree Hill: The Leavers Dance (Season 2)

5C. One Tree Hill: The Show Must Go On (Season 3)

Think I’m missing a very important OTH cliff-hanger?  Stay tuned!

News Roundup: 90210, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill

10 02 2009
  • JustJared has a peek at the cover of Tori Spelling’s (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) new book, Mommywood, which will be released in April.
  • Philly.com has a story on the “coincidence” that both 90210 and Gossip Girl have long-lost sibling storylines.
  • In the February 16, 2009 issue of PEOPLE, there is a column called “3 Reasons I Love Dorota, Gossip Girl Domestic.”  The rest is pretty self-explanatory.
  • Are these the real Twitter accounts of Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill), Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) and Mark Schwahn (Max/creator, One Tree Hill)?  Debate!
  • More stunt casting coming to OTH: Nick Lachey will play himself in an upcoming episode.

No new episodes tonight!

9 02 2009

Neither Gossip Girl nor One Tree Hill are airing new episodes tonight.

Instead, this is what you’ll find:

GG: It’s A Wonderful Lie

OTH: You Have To Be Joking (Autopsy of a Devil’s Brain)

Bethany Joy Galeotti Directs Tonight

2 02 2009

Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley) directs tonight’s new episode of One Tree Hill.

TVGuide.com has a great interview with her where she discusses the process of directing and one of her favorite OTH moments.

Be sure to tune in at 9/8c on The CW (or your local affiliate) and then tell us how you think she did!

Random Thought

31 01 2009

So it’s still not clear whether or not One Tree Hill will be back for a seventh season–and if it is, whether Chad Michael Murray (Lucas) will be a part of the cast.

Regardless, I’ve come up with an idea for a spin-off centered around…Brooke!

Given the storylines in seasons 5 and 6, I envision Brooke (Sophia Bush) returning to New York where she tries to reclaim her company–Clothes Over Bros–from her manipulative mother, Victoria (Daphne Zuniga).  While there, she struggles to balance jumping back into her high-profile career with raising Sam (Ashley Rickards) and perhaps even another foster baby.

She would be single and casually dating until Julian (Austin Nichols) comes back into her life.

So what do you think?  Should I pitch it to Mark? 😉

TVGuide.com Exclusive: OTH Movie Cast

29 01 2009

As if the promo for next week’s One Tree Hill didn’t make it obvious, Lucas will cast 5 people to play himself, Peyton, Brooke, Nathan and Haley in his movie.

TVGuide.com is providing a first look at just who these wannabe actors are.

This getting a little too like The Creek for me but you know I’ll still be watching nonetheless.

No new episodes this week!

26 01 2009

Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and 90210 are all airing repeats this week.

GG: O Brother, Where Bart Thou? (Bart’s funeral)

OTH: Messin’ With The Kid (Jamie faces a school bully)

90210: The Bubble (the show’s second episode where Brenda returns)

News Roundup: 90210, Dawson’s Creek, Gossip Girl and More

  • The new 90210 will finally be starting in England this month but they got a special bonus episode: 90210: That Was Then, This Is Now.  Jealous!
  • Jason Priestley’s new movie re-airs tonight on the Hallmark Channel.
  • James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) will guest-star on an upcoming episode of Medium.  Not clear yet if this means he’s done with OTH.
  • Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl), filmed a Public Service Announcement that you can view here.
  • Kelly Rutherford (Lily, Gossip Girl) went to court today to defend her work schedule in hopes of obtaining custody of her son.

90210, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and More

20 01 2009
  • A “crisis” will occur in the 90210 episode that Jason Priestley directs.  A hospital is involved somehow.
  • AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi, 90210) will be returning to Nip/Tuck later this month.
  • More details are being released about Kelly Rutherford’s (Lily, Gossip Girl) impending divorce and custody battle.
  • EW’s recap of last night’s Gossip Girl (you can read my reaction here) criticizes The O.C. and Dawson’s Creek for the way it transitioned to college.  Beverly Hills 90210, on the other hand, is complimented.
  • DC is again criticized here, now by Buddy TV, for its approach to college. This time, though, The O.C. and One Tree Hill get credit.
  • A paper in the UK is calling Gossip Girl “rubbish” that they “can’t get enough of.”  What does that say about them?
  • There’s a new page on Facebook exclusively for Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick, Gossip Girl) quotes.
  • According to an exclusive statement given to OneTreeHillFans.com, there will not be an OTH charity basketball game like there’s been in the past.
  • The same site is also reporting of rumors that Chad Michael Murray (Lucas) will not return for a seventh season.  They also acknowledge this has been denied by the network.
