RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

I don’t understand why Dustin Milligan would want to leave “90210” now. Does he have another show lined up? -Alice
I don’t think leaving the show was really Dustin’s decision. Word is, he was not thrilled to get his walking papers from new exec producer Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair.

Are Annie and Ethan done now? -Steph
Not yet. They start tonight’s episode as a couple… that’s not really talking. But by the end of the hour, Annie will be laying on the hood of a car up at make out point with some other dude.

So this kid Liam is supposed to be the new Dylan McKay? I don’t see it. Dylan is Dylan. The guy would have to be pretty special to be compared to the great McKay -Christa
Shenae Grimes (Annie), who is the only regular cast member that knows the original “90210” well, was skeptical about this Liam is the new Dylan business too. She told me she wasn’t buying it at first, but after seeing Matt Lanter work, she changed her mind. Me? After seeing this evening’s hour, I’m still not convinced, but I’ll give it some time. He doesn’t have to be Dylan reincarnated, I just need him to be interesting, worthy of our attention, you know?

I remember you saying that Liam is going to have relationships with both Naomi and Annie. Is that still the plan? -Kate
Naomi will fall hard for this dude right from the start. And though he completely blows her off tonight and doesn’t seem at all interested, she will win him over. I think he may even be taking her to the prom in May. His relationship with Annie, however, will build slowly. Shenae said Liam sort of challenges Annie. He doesn’t believe that she’s really as nice and sweet as she tries to come off. I guess he antagonizes her a bit and it sounds like the whole dynamic just reeks of sexual tension.

Korbi, Can you just tell us which long running “90210” couple will break up for good by next season? It’s gotta be Silver and Dixon, but not knowing for sure is driving me crazy. -Deanna

All I can say is Silver and Dixon are definitely in for more difficult times. As I first told you back in January, Silver is about to suffer a mental breakdown and her issues with Dixon will set off a major episode tonight. I’ll speak plainly, the girl done lost her mind.

Any news on my favorite “90210” character Navid? -Penn
I don’t think he appears in this evening’s new episode, actually. If he does, it’s briefly. But he’ll be back in a big way soon, don’t worry. Like I said before, he and Adrianna are not done.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Please tell me the student-teacher sex storyline on Gossip Girl will be short-lived. Talk about cliché! — Charles
MICKEY:
While “hot for teacher” isn’t exactly breaking new narrative ground to begin with, here’s my thing: Rachel isn’t even that hot, and neither is the chemistry she shares with Dan Ho-Humphrey. So I’m with you, Charles, they should put this story to bed, so to speak, as soon as possible. And it looks like they’re going to — in a very surprising way. The bad news: Chuck’s hooker-with-a-heart-of-gold from the Eyes Wide Shut party turns up again like a bad penny. Emphasis on bad. And pennies.

Is it me or is the fashion on 90210 not so fashion-y? — Tara
MICKEY: On most days, my only major fashion decision goes something like: “Corduroy jacket or pants?” So take this all with a grain of salt. I think Silver has an interesting look, but Annie and Naomi dress like they got lost in Gabrielle Carteris’ wardrobe trailer. Amirite? But that’s all about to end, as there is professional help on the horizon. Wait until you see who’s going to help the ladies pick out their prom dresses. I die.

Top 5 Biggest Vixens

9 03 2009

My alternate title for this series was Biggest Bitches, but I figured vixens was more PC.  Either way, the list is the same.  This week I’ll be counting down the top 5 temptresses of teen drama lore.

These manipulative mavens use their wits, sex appeal and fierce attitudes to achieve whatever goal.

We’ll start with one of teen drama’s newest female villains but as the week goes on, so does the scheming and infamy.

5. Naomi Clark (90210)

Naomi is every high schooler’s worst nightmare: mean-spirited, shallow and filthy rich.  Naomi uses her looks and wealth to wield power on those around her, often feuding with Annie and not hesitating to back-stab those her wrong her, whether it be Silver, Ethan or someone else.

Most Quote-Worthy Characters Pt. 4

5 03 2009

Part One, Part Two, Part Three

Character: Silver (90210)

Style: Bold, out-spoken, witty

Examples: “You’ll learn to dig me, trust me.” (We’re Not In Kansas Anymore, Episode 1.1)

“You look tired. Up all night, thinking about me?” (The Bubble, 1.4)

“I’m a strange girl whose gonna have the most rockingest half birthday ever!” (Hollywood Forever, 1.7)

“I’m just finishing up a piece on my creepy custodian guy. You know, the one with the lazy eye? I’m fairly certain he was checking out my ass this morning. But then again, maybe he was just tired.” (Hello, Goodbye, Amen, 1.12)

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Any ANTM scoop? -Daniel
90210 fans will laugh when they see Erin Silver’s doppelganger on this new ANTM cycle. There’s a model wannabe who not only looks like Jessica Stroup, but sports the signature Silver style. She’s also a street preacher who spreads the good word of God to all those who’ll listen… But hey, I’ve actually heard that Silver may soon leave West Bev and start attending Catholic school.

Korbi, who is getting engaged on 90210? It’s Adrianna and Navid, I know it. When’s the wedding? -Manda
Ade and Navid aren’t really ready — shocking, I know — I think they’ll end up calling this plan off sometime before the end of the season.

Random Gripe

7 02 2009

One of the things 90210 uses for promotion is the ties it has to the original series, including featuring and mentioning original characters.

But those things end up being so unsatisfying because the show seems to do them half-assed (which isn’t surprising giving the LA Times piece from earlier this week). They mention or feature a character but don’t provide information for the new storyline to make sense with the old.

So the question is: why don’t they fill in the holes?

Example 1: Dylan is the father of Kelly’s son, Sammy, who was born sometime since 2000 but not after 2005. So when exactly did that happen? And why didn’t Kelly and Dylan marry when she got pregnant? And why did they split up?

Example 2: In the pilot episode, Hannah Zuckerman-Vasquez was giving the morning news at West Bev. But since when does Hannah (and her parents, Andrea and Jesse) live in Beverly Hills and if they do, where are they? We haven’t seen Hannah since that first episode!

Example 3: Brandon, we’re told, is traveling the world, covering wars and like. Or so it seems. So he’s still a journalist? Where is he based out of? Is he married?

Example 4: When and why did The Peach Pit change locations and names? And where has Nat been lately?

Example 5: According to spoilers/rumors, Donna is living in Japan with David but may move back to Beverly Hills–or at least returns to help Silver as she goes through a tough time. But didn’t Brenda say, early in the season, that she saw Donna and her “cute” baby? How, if they are living in Japan? And what happened to Now Wear This? (And Kelly’s PR firm?!) And how can Donna come/move back without David and their kid? And why would Donna come back to help Silver but David, her own brother, wouldn’t?

These bones that the writers throw to us end up being worth very little because they lack so much information. There isn’t a genuine effort to reward, respect or even keep viewers of the original.

What are your thoughts?
