News Roundup: 90210, Gossip Girl, and More

13 04 2009
  • Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) has refuted some of her mother’s claims in a new article.  Both of their books are reviewed in the April 17th issue of Entertainment Weekly.  You can also read the reviews here, as well as another Tori article from the mag.

  • John Burke (Bart Bass, Gossip Girl) is now on Rescue Me.
  • The April 10th issue of Entertainment Weekly is filled with teen drama content: there’s a small piece on Southland, which includes photos of Ben McKenzie (Ryan, The O.C.) and Michael Cudlitz (Tony, Beverly Hills 90210) during their TD days; Penelope’s (Amanda Setton) “In the last 20 minutes, I’ve been hit on by two Bronfmans and a gay designer.  It was totally worth it” line from the most recent Gossip Girl was included in the weekly SoundBites feature.  Unfortunately, so was Joel McHale’s recent quip on The Soup: “One Tree Hill can be described in many ways: unflinching cure for insomnia, worst show to take place on a hill, and inexcusable misuse of Chad Michael Murray would all work.”; Tori Spelling vs. Candy Spelling made The Bullseye, as did the news that Milligan is leaving 90210.

Tori Spelling on Her Character

13 04 2009

“What I love about Donna is she’s never jaded. Donna can kind of go through anything and she still has that girlish quality about her. I think that’s something she’d have at any age. … That’s Donna to me.”

***

“I didn’t want to go back to playing funny, silly, ditzy Donna and not have her mature. She’s married. She has a baby now. But I found her quite easily. I forgot that Donna is me to the core.”

Beverly Hills 90210 Season 7 DVD Out TODAY!

7 04 2009

Check back later today for more details.  I’ll be picking up my copy shortly!

UPDATE

Bought my copy at Barnes and Noble for $58.99, I think.  I already misplaced the receipt so I’m not sure if it was on sale but they’re usually 10 percent off when they first go on sale there.

The box set’s cover image is the first to include Kathleen Robertson (Clare) even though she was also a regular in seasons five and six, and had a large role in the fourth season.

The biggest disappointment is that there aren’t any special features.  There haven’t been, in fact, since the season four set.

The booklet with the little episode descriptions are accurate (haven’t always been in the past!) but also vague and sometimes leave out important storylines.  (Yes, Tracy and Brandon break up but more importantly Brandon and Kelly get back together!)

The individual discs don’t have images on them like the first two or so seasons did.  There are, however, images on the disc cases (Kelly, Steve, Valerie and Brandon) but they’re the same pictures as ones found on the box itself.

Still, if you’re a hardcore 90210 fan, season 7 is worth buying.  You’ll only regret it when they announce the complete series set a few years from now!  Sigh.
