RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Daniella in Pittsburgh: What’s coming up on Gossip Girl? This season has been amazing so far!
As if a long lost sibling and declining admission to Yale isn’t enough, Serena’s insta-gal-pal Poppy Lifton is coming back to make her life even more difficult. I’m guessing another feature in Women’s Wear Daily is not on her to-do list this time around? And Rufus is going to run into some money problems soon, but with Lily by his side that shouldn’t be too big of an issue right? She could easily take care of those with a small loan from her Bass Industries inheritance!

Alexandra in Baltimore: Anything on One Tree Hill? Do you know yet if this is really the last season?
No word yet on if a decision has been made about a seventh season, but by the looks of the upcoming One Tree Hill eps, I’d say things are starting to wrap up in North Carolina. Julian is looking to take things to the next level with Brooke when he asks if she and Sam will move back to L.A. with him. Might Tree Hill’s resident fashionista settle down in California for good? Millicent and Mouth are going to rekindle their adorkable love soon, too! And hell must have frozen over because after six seasons of abandonment, abuse and even murder, Dan is finally going to apologize to Nathan and Lucas for being such a terrible father.

Jamie in Salt Lake City: Please give me some juicy scoop on 90210, Kristin!
Looks like all of the emotional turmoil Silver (Jessica Stroup) has been going through is going to get worse before it gets better. When she goes MIA, the gang launches a manhunt to find her that leads everyone to a train station, where one of our beloved 90210ers will end up in a sticky situation out on the tracks. Any guesses as to who it might be? Is that how they find Silver? Or maybe it’s her man, Dixon, coming to the rescue!

Heather in Vancouver: I’m confused as to when Adrianna and Ty slept together on 90210. Was it before he and Annie dated?
Ty finds out he is the baby daddy in tomorrow night’s episode, but we won’t find out when the deed was done for a while. Adam Gregory tells me, “That will probably be revealed in later episodes, so we’ll have to see how that unfolds.” No doubt this will have an affect on Ty and Annie’s friendship, or possible romance. “When it happened, how it happened plays a big part in Ty and Annie’s little relationship,” adds Gregory.

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and The O.C.

2 02 2009
  • CW couples dominated Portait Magazine’s poll of the Top 10 Young [Relation]Ships.  Blair and Chuck (Gossip Girl) take the top spot but One Tree Hill’s Brucas, Naley and Leyton are numbers 2, 3 and 4, respectively.
  • PEOPLE has a photo of a very dressed-down Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) and Penn Badgley (Dan, Gossip Girl) at DirecTV’s Celebrity Beach Bowl.
  • After almost a month of searching, I finally found a promo for Benjamin McKenzie’s new show, retitled Southland, on NBC.  Coincidentally, the audio track–Orange Sky by Alexi Murdoch–was featured on The O.C. (and Dawson’s Creek!) once or twice!

SERENA-NATE-BLAIR

How It Started: Everyone on the Upper East Side is shocked when “it girl” Serena suddenly leaves town.  Then when she returns a few months later, her best friend Blair is even more shocked when she finds out why Serena left town in the first place: because she slept with Blair’s longtime boyfriend, Nate.

How It Ended: Upon Serena’s return to the city, Nate–who is still with Blair–struggles with his feelings for both girls.  Serena isn’t interested in him, though, and works to repair her friendship with Blair.  Meanwhile, Blair and Nate work things out and continue to date.

Key Episodes: 1.1-1.2, 1.6-1.7, 1.17

YouTube Evidence: Gossip Girl–Blair/Nate/Serena; Blair/Nate/Serena–Leave (Get Out)

NATE-BLAIR-CHUCK

How It Started: While briefly broken up from Nate during season one, Blair loses her virginity to his best friend, Chuck.  Blair manages to keep her indiscretion secret, even as Chuck tries to hook up with her again.  Blair and Nate reunite, angering Chuck.

How It Ended: When Blair has a pregnancy scare a few weeks later, someone tells Gossip Girl that Nate might not be the babydaddy.  Blair isn’t pregnant, but the damage is already done: Nate finds out about their one-night-stand, breaking up with her and ending his friendship with Chuck.  Chuck, likewise, rejects Blair telling her, “I don’t want you anymore and I can’t see why anyone else would.”  Blair and Chuck spend the rest of the season inching towards a relationship and then pulling back.  In the season finale, Nate and Chuck repair their friendship and he gives Chuck his blessing.

Key Episodes: 1.7-1.8, 1.10-1.13, 1.17-1.18

YouTube Evidence: Nate, Blair, Chuck–There’s No I In Team

SERENA-DAN-GEORGINA

How It Started: While dating Serena, Dan makes friend with a girl named Sarah–unaware that she’s really Georgina, Serena’s frenemy.  Georgina, masquerading as Sarah, wedges herself in the middle of Serena and Dan’s relationship.  Dan, upset with Serena for cheating on him (though she really didn’t), hooks up with Georgina.

How It Ended: With help from Blair, Dan learns Sarah/Georgina’s real indentity.  He does not get back together with Serena, though, feeling that the damage has been done and the whole situation put way too much distance between them.

Key Episodes: 1.15-1.18

YouTube Evidence: Dan/Serena/Georgina–Cry; Georgina Sparks Is Back!

BART-LILY-RUFUS

How It Started: Long-ago sweethearts Rufus and Lily connect again when their kids (Dan and Serena) begin dating.  Lily contemplates seeing Rufus again but doesn’t after Serena asks her not to, as it would complicate her own love life.  Lily, intead, gets engaged to business mogul (and Chuck’s dad) Bart.

How It Ended: Rufus tries to stop Lily from marrying Bart, and they even sleep together on the eve of the wedding.  Lily decides, however, to go through with the wedding.  Within a few months, though Lily becomes unhappy in her mariage and plans to leave Bart and, presumably, get with Rufus.  Before she can do that, though, Bart dies in a car accident.  Following his death, Rufus and Lily head towards a relationship.

Leighton Meester on Seventeen Cover

28 01 2009

Leighton Meester (Blair, Gossip Girl) is on the cover of the  March issue of Seventeen.

You can read excerpts of the cover story here.

Among the highlights: she doesn’t like to gossip, she’s still dating Sebastian Stan (Carter, Gossip Girl) and she loves “bad boys.”

In case you missed it, Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) was on Seventeen’s cover during the summer–while I was interning there!  You can see that cover here.

News Roundup: The O.C, 90210 and Gossip Girl

27 01 2009
  • Marissa (Mischa Barton, The O.C.) and Alex’s (Olivia Wilde, The O.C.) break-up is ranked number 9 on a list of the worst lesbian break-ups in TV history.
  • Jennie Garth (Kelly, 90210) says she wants to show the “real side” of her character.  Um, isn’t that what we saw on the 10 years of the first show?  Though I do agree that we should see more of her and Sammy…
  • More people watched 90210 on DVR this week than any other show.
  • Michelle Trachtenberg (Georgina, Gossip Girl) says she doesn’t know what her storyline will be when she returns to GG but she loves playing a “nasty bitch.”
  • Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) and Penn Bagdley (Dan, Gossip Girl) will appear on the DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl, airing Saturday.

Spoiler: Ask Ausiello

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!
Question: Come on, Ausiello! Give us scoop on Gossip Girl! — Sam
Ausiello:
First let me say that Monday’s episode was an absolute triumph on all levels (acting, writing, directing)…which makes the fact that it was the lowest-rated of the season all the more depressing. (Time to reboot the system, Nielsen!) On the scoop front, I know what brings Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) back to town, and it’s not her seemingly indefatigable quest to piss off frenemy Serena. Quite the contrary, in fact. Take it away, exec producer Josh Schwartz! “Certain times a situation is so dire that it requires the assistance of even your most sworn enemy,” he teases. “It just might come to pass that Serena and Blair find themselves in a situation where they have no recourse other than to recruit Georgina Sparks.” In other GG news, the show is casting the possibly recurring role of an “unassumingly cute” 16-year-old male. Sounds like Jenny’s getting a new suitor!

Question: 90210 gets so little attention from you! Got any scoop? — Stephanie
Ausiello:
This season’s 19th episode (airing in April) will be must-see-worthy for two reasons: It marks Tori Spelling’s return as Donna and features the arrival of Dixon’s estranged mother.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and More

14 01 2009
  • OTH made EW’s Must List for the week.  See if you can spot the factual error!
  • More details have been released on Kelly Rutherford’s (Lily, Gossip Girl) impending divorce and why her husband blames the show.
  • Dawn Ostroff, in talking about CW viewers: “Our fans really love some of that heightened drama, as you can see when you watch ‘One Tree Hill’ and ‘Gossip Girl.‘ So the job is both: to get them emotionally invested in the people and then do storylines that have twists and turns and surprises you never expected.”
  • There’s another Jason Priestley (Brandon, Beverly Hills 90210) story, similar to the one we posted last night.
  • And another Jessica Lowdnes (Adrianna, 90210) story.
  • Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) is on the cover of Vogue.  Lively calls the GG fashion “unbelievable.”  You can read the whole interview here.  Another article, more about Vogue, though.
  • AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi, 90210) has some pretty steamy photos in the February issue of GQ.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Michelle in Williamsport, Pa.: The cast of 90210 is so hot. Any chance any of them are actually single?
Not even close. Those 90210 kids just can’t help but date each other. Dustin Milligan and Jessica Stroup were together at the WB/In Style party last night, while Jessica Lowndes and Adam Gregory were spotted Saturday afternoon at the HBO Luxury Lounge, though the pair wouldn’t let the photogs catch them canoodling.

Jesse in Miami: Is Lily and Rufus’ son alive on Gossip Girl? I hope not!
I’m told Rufus and Lily will be told that he’s dead, but then later find out he is not. Yep, Dan and Serena’s romance-slaying half sibling is most definitely among the living, and according to sources, the producers plan to cast some hot new guy to come to the show either later this season or early in season three. So what does this mean for D and S? Is there any way to keep them together now? Let’s discuss in the comments!

Wallace in Reno, Nev.: Give us some good Gossip Girl scoop!
A huge core couple is going to get back together. And trust me, it’s not anyone you would think would get back together. And trust me, I will cry.

News Roundup: 90210, Gossip Girl, Dawson’s Creek

12 01 2009
  • In the Jan. 19th issue of PEOPLE (also mentioned here), Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson admit to being “total 90210 girls” and vaguely reference the 1991 Slumber Party episode.
  • Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) did not accompany fiance Megan Fox to the Golden Globes.
  • Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) presented–and messed up!–at the Golden Globes.
  • Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek) has been cast in a new series on The CW called Light Years.  Smith will play the boyfriend of Shiri Appleby (Rene, Beverly Hills 90210) whose estranged daughter comes back into her life.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Question: Any new news about the Veronica Mars movie? If not, some Gossip Girl scoop is perfectly acceptable. — Amy
Ausiello:
Gossip Girl scoop it is! Word around the UES is that Serena will soon share something in common with Anne Hathaway. And garnering Oscar buzz ain’t it.

Question: About Lily and Rufus’ kid on Gossip Girl: another site said it was a boy and he died. Is that true? — Hanna
Ausiello:
Only half of it.

Question: I need to know more about Gossip Girl, please! I’ll give my entire Smurf collection! — Ali
Ausiello:
I have a sneaking suspicion that Chuck’s mother is alive. Anyone else share my hunch?

Question: Do you have any news on One Tree Hill? We heard that Mark Schwahn had asked The CW for a decision on season 7 by 1 January so that he could write an appropriate season ending. — Nathan
Ausiello:
Not Jan. 1, but a decision will be made soon. It’s all about contracts now. The cast only signed six-year pacts, so new deals will have to be brokered. Negotiations are happening as we speak.
