My Autographed OTH Backpack!

11 03 2009

Every year my school, Northwestern University, holds a huge charity event called Dance Marathon.  Aside from dancing for 30 hours straight to raise awareness about a specific cause (this year it was for Project Kindle), there are other events such as a silent auction.

On Saturday I was stunned into bliss when I saw one particular item up for bid: an autographed One Tree Hill backpack, donated courtesy of one Hilarie Burton!

There was only one bid at that time–a measley $20–and I wasn’t going to let anyone stop me from winning it!  Fifty bucks later, this piece of memorabilia was all mine!

No idea how they got Hilarie to donate it, or why all the main characters signed except Sophia Bush, but I couldn’t be happier!

Check it out for yourself…

Spoiler: Ask Ausiello

5 03 2009

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Question: My understanding is that One Tree Hill is returning without Chad Michael Murray and Hillarie Burton. Is there any truth to this? –Kirsten
Ausiello:
Well, based on the rather odd video statement she released, Hillarie certainly wants us to think she’s leaving. I’ll believe it when I see her clean out her dressing room. Regarding CMM, it’s no secret that he’s ready to move on, but, again, no final decision has been made. BTW, only two Tree Hill regulars are officially on board for next season: Bethany Joy Galeotti and Jackson Brundage.

Question: Please tell me there is still hope for Dan and Serena? –Adam
Ausiello:
If I did, I’d be lying. Exec producer Stephanie Savage confirms that Derena is dunzo. “I will tell you — and you can tell [everyone else] — that they do not get back together as a couple.”

Fact or Fiction: OTH Cast Rumors Update

26 02 2009

From Watch with Kristin:

If you keep tabs on the One Tree Hill fandom, you may have heard some scary rumors over the past couple of days. Yes, the CW ordered a seventh season of the series, but if you are to believe the Internets, it would be without the presence of stars Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton.

Could the show really go on without them? Here’s what we’re hearing…

Rumors of the actors leaving the series have been greatly exaggerated. While it’s true that the CW ordered a new season without having signed contracts with CMM and Burton, it turns out that’s because the CW doesn’t have signed contracts (yet) with any of the OTH talent.

Now, it’s certainly possible that CMM and Burton could leave (there’s no definite news either way), but overall, you can rest your pretty little heads about this issue, as we’ve been told by a reliable insider, “Obviously, most if not all [of the castmembers] are coming back.”

*Update*

Video is up at SGP blog

So, this is developing news.  I’m seeing links and reading here and at FF about a video that was posted of Hilarie on her SGP blog that has since been taken down.  From descriptions, it was clear she was not coming back to Season 7.  Fans describe what she says:

She talks about how she want people to know how much she loves OTH, the crew and Peyton Sawyer and how she wish she had creative control of the show. She also doesnt want anyone to think that she abandoning a show that has been good to her. She stills wants us to watch the show and support it. She did say had a good run. She didnt flat out say she was leaving, but it was kinda obvious she is. Leytonunit220@FF

We love you, Hilarie!!!

Edited: Don’t forget you can leave Hilarie messages at 828-398-0310 or denise.gideon1 on skype

My take: WTF is going on?!

Fact or Fiction: CMM and Burton leaving OTH?

25 02 2009

Some sources say they are.

Some say they aren’t.

And some just don’t know.

With so little information out there, I really don’t know what to make of it. I’m hesitant to believe anything that doesn’t come from the network, the actors or Mark Schwahn.

It’s hard to believe Schwahn would be willing to, in good faith, continue the show without two of its leading characters.  He spent so much time building a show around Lucas and Peyton (as a couple and in their relationships with the other characters) that it doesn’t feel like it would still be One Tree Hill without them.

OTH defied the odds when it jumped ahead several years and managed not to get the death-sentence label of “jumping the shark.”  I don’t see them having that same kind of success if CMM and Burton leave.

What do you think?  Would it still be One Tree Hill without Lucas and Peyton?  If they are leaving, would you rather the series end with season 6?

Breaking News: OTH renewed, GG spin-off gets title

24 02 2009

No need to wonder anymore if the TV gods will bless us with another season of One Tree Hill.  TV Week confirmed that The CW has in fact renewed OTH for a season 7.  No word yet on whether this will be with or without Chad Michael Murray (Lucas).

In other good teen drama news, Gossip Girl and 90210 were also renewed.

And here’s the icing on the cake:

The GG spin-off will simply be titled “Lily.”  Cute, no?

YouTube Video of the Week

15 02 2009

Chad Michael Murray is one of just two actors in the teen drama genre with a special distinction: he’s had a significant role on two series!  CMM appeared on 12 episodes of Dawson’s Creek circa 2001-2002.  His character, Charlie Todd, wooed both Jen and Joey.

Just a year-and-a-half later he made his debut as Lucas, one of the lead characters on One Tree Hill.

Here’s a look at CMM’s appearances on DC.

CMM was the only one to hold this distinction until a few months ago when James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) began appearing on One Tree Hill as Dixon.  Now both CMM and James have appeared on each other’s shows and acted in scenes together!

Coincidentally, CMM and Hilarie Burton (Peyton) shared one scene on Dawson’s Creek as well, when she guest-starred as herself.  This was, obviously, pre-OTH.
