…and stare at these for inspiration.

I made these super-collages into posters out of smaller ones I found on the good ol’ internet.

Do you have teen drama photos decorating your room, too?

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, 90210, The O.C. and More

  • The Futon Critic has a really great interview with Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl).

  • Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210) and Luke Perry (Dylan, Beverly Hills 90210) are featured in a Los Angeles Times piece on comebacks.
  • Doherty is also included in a  Fox News piece on stars who left hit shows, but the blurb has some facts wrong.  See if you can spot the error!
  • Just because we’re in a different decade now doesn’t mean you can’t get fashion tips from the original 90210.
  • Mischa Barton (Marissa, The O.C.) isn’t joining the Melrose Place remake but will be in another CW pilot instead.  She talked to PEOPLE about the role she’ll play.
  • EW pits Barton against AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi, 90210) for “top beast” honors.
  • Benjamin McKenzie’s (Ryan, The O.C.) new show, Southland, is included in E!Online’s midseason TV preview.

News Roundup: 90210, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and More

10 03 2009
  • Michael Steger (Navid, 90210) says he’ll get more air time as Adrianna’s (Jessica Lowndes) pregnany progresses but he doesn’t what his other storylines, if any, will be.

  • Matt Barr (Psycho Derek, One Tree Hill) has been added to the cast of the Gossip Girl spin-off.  Since his character’s last name is van der Woodsen, he could be Lily’s future husband and Serena and Eric’s dad.  Or they could be trying to throw us.  Maybe she ends up marrying his brother or cousin or something?  And where does Rufus play a role in this if he’s supposedly the great love of her younger life??
  • Kate Voegle (Mia, One Tree Hill) is working on a new album in addition to filming OTH episodes.
  • Madchen Amick (Catherine, Gossip Girl; Nicole, Dawson’s Creek) has been cast in an ABC pilot.
  • SoapNet has acquired all the seasons of Gilmore Girls but no word yet when it will air or if this will break up the daily and weekend blocks of One Tree Hill, The O.C., and Beverly Hills 90210.

Site of the Week

9 03 2009

One resource in particular was invaluable to me last week as I worked on the Most Quote-Worthy Characters series.

Wikiquote

Wikiquote is part of the Wikimedia family, which is also responsible for Wikipedia, Wiktionary, etc.

Wikiquote takes Wikipedia’s general purpose of providing information and narrows it down to simply providing quotes.

They have some of the best collections of Dawson’s Creek, The O.C. and One Tree Hill quotes I’ve seen.

Unfortunately, the Gossip Girl and 90210 (old and new) sections are lacking.

But if you have a lot of time and want to relive some memorable lines, or if you’re looking for something in particular, Wikiquote is great place to start your search.

Top 5 Most Quote-Worthy Characters

2 03 2009

After last week’s super-serious series, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of the characters who give the most memorable lines.  So, in no particular order…

Character: Seth Cohen (The O.C.)

Style: Sarcastic and self-deprecating

Examples: “Every year some big water polo player ends up peeing in one of my shoes… Nah, I’m just kidding. He pees in both of them.” (The Heights, Episode 1.9)

“My Jew-fro is frizzing out. I look like Screech”(The Goodbye Girl, 1.21)

“Congratulations. You’re a Cohen. Welcome to a life of insecurity and paralyzing self-doubt.” (The Chrismukkah That Almost Wasn’t, 2.6)

“I think closure’s overrated. I’m more of a fan of open-ended, unrequited love.” (The Test, 2.13)

“We’re getting dangerously close to an After-School Special here, Ryan. It’s marijuana and I did it twice.” (The Cliffhanger, 3.14)

“Aren’t you going to invite me in? So the utility closet is the new poolhouse. Things change. It’s the Seth/Ryan time that counts.” (The Avengers, 4.1)

YouTube Video of the Week

1 03 2009

There can never be too much teen drama in our lives.  So if you’re looking for more, let me present to you my latest discovery: Barton Heights.

Barton Heights is a teen drama parody series made for the web by one very talented guy named Anthony Laatsch.  He casts, writes and directs everything all on his own, taking ideas from our favorite shows like One Tree Hill and The O.C.  His mini episodes include all the cliches and criticisms of teen dramas–on purpose.

While the camerawork is a little shaky and the acting amateur, the creativeness and effort to make this standout are all there.

See for yourself!
