News Roundup: 90210, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and More

18 01 2010
  • There’s been several news stories the past few days about Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) supposedly tweeting that he and Megan Fox are engaged again. I haven’t posted any of them because I knew the account was fake (it’s been on my fake list in the Twitter Directory for months) but unfortunately several news organizations ran with it without bothering to check with his publicist whether the account was legit. Thanks to GossipCop, it is finally getting out there that this was just one big deception. I hope those other news orgs. are embarrassed and ashamed–and I hope the poser is as well.
  • Zap2it has a slightly different version of the Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210) quote I linked to yesterday. Yesterday’s said she was done with 90210 “for a while” whereas today’s says she’s been done for a while.
  • Thrilled for Christy-Anne at the press coverage her One Tree Hill Reunion is getting. So bummed my trip didn’t work out.
  • Everly, featuring Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley, One Tree Hill) released new music today–b tracks. vol. 3
  • BuddyTV, TVGuide.com and Starpulse have interviews with Robert Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill).
  • Examiner.com has an interview with Lindsey McKeon (Taylor, One Tree Hill). Have you read my interview with her?
  • TVGuideMagazine.com has what they’re calling an “exclusive” Gossip Girl spoiler but we already know about this. There’s just 1 or 2 more specific details given.
  • Philly.com has an article on Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek). TVGuide.com and About.com have interviews with him. (In the former, he speaks well of DC and in the latter he says another show he did–E-ring–is his favorite).
  • This review of Life Unexpected, which stars Smith, references The O.C.

Random Question

17 01 2010

With One Tree Hill coming back from hiatus tomorrow night (expect a live-blog!), I thought it would be a good time to “check in.”

Back in May, after 6.24 aired and we all knew Chad Michael Murray (Lucas) and Hilarie Burton (Peyton) weren’t going to be in season 7, I wrote a little rant. I vented my disappointment that the show hadn’t ended with 6.24 and shared my hope that I would fall in love with what I called the “2.0 version” of the show.

In case I haven’t made it abundantly clear already, there’s been no falling in love thus far. With the exception of one episode (7.07, I And Love And You), I’ve found the season to be rather mediocre, with holes that go well beyond Leyton’s absence.

But I want to know what you think, especially now that we’re halfway through the season.

Is this One Tree Hill 2.0 to you? Are you adjusting to life without Leyton and with Clay, Quinn and Alex (et. al.) better than you had expected? Do you wish the show ended with 6.24? Should this season have been a spin-off?

Please note that my love for the show largely remains unchanged. I would never abandon it. I even feel like I’m being unfair judging this season at the midway point rather than waiting til all the episodes have aired.

But I will most certainly reassess in May and, again, I thought it would be nice to at least “check in” with you guys in the meantime.

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and 90210

15 01 2010
  • PEOPLE.com has a poll asking who should play the new Spider-Man and Penn Badgley (Dan, Gossip Girl) is one of the choices.
  • Taylor Momsen (Jenny, Gossip Girl) helped Victoria’s Secret launch their new fragrance.
  • MTV has a spoilish interview with Robert Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill).
  • According to Access Hollywood, Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210) is done with 90210. There’s been pictures showing her in new episodes with Greg Vaughan (Cliff, Beverly Hills 90210; TBA, 90210), so perhaps they mean she won’t be filming any more episodes. Or perhaps they’re just wrong. We’ll see!

Weekly Poll

10 12 2009

The last Weekly Poll was a while ago now, thanks to the week off that the shows had and then the week off that I had. In that set, a big chunk of you believed Lady Gaga’s appearance on Gossip Girl was a pointless ratings stunt and that Liam and Naomi belonged together. It was a lot closer on the question of where Quinn’s loyalties should lie. In the end, the belief that she should stay out of the Naley-Clay issue came out on top by just 10 votes.

Perry ranks the best at number 7, while CMM is at 13, Crawford came in at 17 with Priestley right after at 18 and Jackson sits at number 20 while McKenzie is at 31. Weekly Poll

19 11 2009

In last week’s inagural Weekly Poll, voters were almost evenly split on the questions “Should Brooke have accepted Rachel’s apology?” and “In light of the threesome, do you hope Dan and Vanessa get together?”  But the third question, “Should Dixon be mad at Debbie?” had clear winner with most people thinking Debbie was just trying to protect him.

Voice your opinions in this week’s polls.

YouTube Video of the Week

15 11 2009

I probably should be excommunicated for saying this but I am becoming more and more intrigued by a Clay-Haley pairing on One Tree Hill.

When Alyssa first told me people were already shipping them, I was shocked.

Naley is endgame. Duh.

But this Claley video in particular got me thinking that it wouldn’t be so bad to at least explore it.

Keep Naley in the end but, in the meantime, Claley is quite intriguing.

To me, anyway.
