News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, Dawson’s Creek and The O.C.

4 02 2010
  • Star News has an article on Robert Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill) participating in a charity event with Aerpostale.
  • Kristin says Michelle Trachtenberg (Georgina, Gossip Girl) will be in GG’s season finale. The quotes in the article are from a spoiler chat from January, though.
  • According to the same article, Connor Paolo (Eric, Gossip Girl) will appear on an episode of Mercy, which also stars Trachtenberg and now James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek).
  • The February 8 issue of PEOPLE has a short interview with Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek). When asked about his favorite DC memory, he says: “In the summer we as a cast would go to Masonboro Island, [N.C.]. We’d get out the grill and go Jet Skiing and swimming. It was the most fun I ever had in my life.” If you recall, John Wesley Shipp (Mitch, Dawson’s Creek) made a similar comment in my interview with him.
  • The headline alone of this article on Fringe, which stars Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson’s Creek), makes it worth posting.
  • McG (executive producer, The O.C.) may direct the romantic comedy This Means War.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

As you probably know by now, Gossip Girl‘s Chuck and Blair are going to be going through a rough patch caused by Chuck.

So what does Chuck do to Blair that leads to the crisis? Is it true that a fling with Jenny Humphrey is involved? Get the exclusive scoop on that.

Patricia in Boston: At first I was just sad about the Chuck-Blair breakup news, but now I am freaking the hell out. Is it true that the horrible thing Chuck does is sleep with Jenny Humphrey? I’ll never watch Gossip Girl again if that’s what happens!
Well, don’t delete that Gossip Girl season pass from your TiVo just yet, because sources assure us that this particular rumor is totally false. So, while we can’t tell you yet what bad thing Chuck does do, we can assure that you, no, Chuck does not sleep with Jenny. Whew.

Lauren in New York City: I’m so sad about Chuck and Blair breaking up on Gossip Girl! Anything new on that?
Ed Westwick
himself says of Gossip Girl‘s upcoming storylines, “It all gets set on its side. Everything goes upside down. Things are going to get even more dramatic than they always are.” And Gossip boss Josh Schwartz tweeted, “Trust. #ChuckandBlair.” Believe the man. Josh is the one who made Chuck and Blair so awesome in the first place, and he wouldn’t be breaking them up unless it was part of a greater plan, right?

Chloe in Grand Island, Neb.: I approve of the casting of Billy Baldwin (although John Slattery would have been ideal) as Serena’s dad on Gossip Girl, but I now have to know before I get too excited. Is Daddy van der Woodsen completely evil, or does he have any redeeming qualities?
We’re told we’ll see that William van der Woodsen does want to get back into Serena and Eric’s life on Gossip Girl. That doesn’t mean he’s a pure good guy—his motives for seeing them could be totally dark side—but at least he’s no longer totally dissing his own children.

Hope in Worcester, Mass.: Please give me some One Tree Hill scoop!
We see Sarah, Clay’s (Robert Buckley) dead wife again—but she won’t be Sarah. (Dun dun dunnnnn…)

Phil in Nevada: What’s happening when Melrose Place returns?
Colin Egglesfield
and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz only have one episode left, then Nick Zano joins the cast to stir things up. At the GBK Golden Globes gift lounge, Michael Rady told us he’s looking forward to the newbie. “We’re pals, and then…” he teased about Jonah and Nick’s character before stopping himself. “I don’t want to get in trouble, but the murder mystery is out, and that gets filled in with original Melrose, L.A. fun.” That said, insiders tell me that unlike 90210, which is trending toward the new kids, Melrose will be splitting its attention between the youngsters and the old guard likes of Amanda, Michael Mancini and dead Sydney.

We already know Amanda Schull (Sara) will be back.

Laura Leighton (Sophie, Beverly Hills 90210) plays Sydney on Melrose Place.

Weekly Poll

20 01 2010

In the last Weekly Poll, 63 percent were were looking forward to Taylor’s return while 25 percent were indifferent and 12 percent gave a firm “no.” Makes me very eager to see the results of this week’s poll! Less than 10 votes separated the pro-Eric fans and the anti-Eric fans, but the pros won it. Still, 16 percent didn’t care either way. Similar numbers on the Annie-Liam question, with 10-vote margin between those totally interested and totally against the pairing. Here more people were against it and 13 percent didn’t care.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and More

19 01 2010
  • I am not posting ratings for last night’s One Tree Hill until the final numbers are announced. I’ve been told they’re delayed due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
  • The CW sent out a press release–based on the early numbers, which they normally use–saying Life Unexpected’s total viewers was the most for the 9pm timeslot in more than a year. That means it outperformed One Tree Hill last year (from 1/12/09 til the end of the season) and Gossip Girl all of this season.
  • Be sure to check out The CW’s site for all the new One Tree Hill video content this week.
  • Examiner.com has an article on Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) and Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill)–who are totally together, it seems–attending the The Art of Elysium’s annual gala.
  • The new One Tree Hill Connection podcast features an interview with Lindsey McKeon (Taylor, One Tree Hill). Have you read my interview with her?
  • Ausiello is reporting Billy Baldwin has been cast as father to Serena (Blake Lively, Gossip Girl) and Eric (Connor Paolo, Gossip Girl), ex-husband to Lily (Kelly Rutherford, Gossip Girl). Matt Barr (Ian “Psycho Derek” Banks, One Tree Hill) played the young version of Keith in the 80s flashback episode in season 2. Some are saying Keith isn’t S and E’s father and this E! Online article says its William van der Woodsen but I am just confused by it all.
  • I typically don’t link to sites like this but I was just so stunned by this claim that I can’t ignore it. Radar Online is “exclusively” reporting that Rob Estes (Harry, 90210) has quit the show. Some of their facts are clearly wrong: they say “The next season is set to air in the close future – a date has yet to be released by CW as they gear up to debut their new line-up.” The next season–if there is a next season–wouldn’t typically air til the fall and wouldn’t even be announced for a while longer. I am hoping a mainstream, credible site will quickly confirm or deny their report.
  • The same Radar article also has details on Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210) and her exit from the show. These seem to be legit as the quotes are coming from her manager, rather than anonymous sources.
  • Garth is starring in a new webseries, called Garden Party. Garth previously appeared in the webseries The Broadroom.
  • Smokin’ Aces 2, starring Autumn Reeser (Taylor, The O.C.), is out on DVD today. Reeser and I discussed the film in our interview and she discusses it in this new one as well. Reeser also mentions her appearance years ago on Star Trek, which starred Jeri Ryan (Charlotte, The O.C.)
  • TVGuide.com has more on Olivia Wilde (Alex, The O.C.) auctioning her Golden Globes dress for charity.
  • Emmanuelle Chriqui, who played Alex’s ex in two episodes of The O.C. was named the Most Desirable Woman of 2010.

Weekly Poll

13 01 2010

In the last Weekly Poll, a decent majority–60 percent–said they hope Rachel stays in Tree Hill. Only 22 percent said they disagreed and 18 percent didn’t care either way. The results were tight on the question of Lily and Keith and what may or may not have happened between them. Thirty-four percent of respondents said Lily wouldn’t cheat on Rufus but 30 percent admitted they weren’t sure and can’t wait to find out. Twenty-six percent are convinced cheating did occur while 10 percent also said they weren’t sure but they’re not looking forward to finding out. We had a tie in the third question, with 26 percent saying Dixon shouldn’t look for his birth mom but 26 percent also saying they don’t care. Another 35 percent said he should while 13 percent said they were torn.

Weekly Poll

6 01 2010

In the last Weekly Poll, the majority of voters thought it was a happy medium for Haley to go on tour with Nathan and Jamie with her for part of the time. Many of you thought she deserved to go on tour regardless, while just two people said she should keep her family as the priority. Forty-seven percent said Blair and Chuck have had highs and lows this season but 31 percent say the luster is gone and 22 percent say their power is still just as strong. Only 3 votes separated the ays from the maybes on whether Kelly should be in more episodes. Just 10 percent, or 5 votes, were against it.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Question: Jenny is so boring on Gossip Girl. Please tell me she will become mean. —Juliana
Ausiello:
Mean enough to drive her BFF away. I hear Jenny and Eric’s relationship will suffer big time due to her new “Queen Bee” status.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Hailey in Rhode Island: I’m dying for Gossip Girl scoop! Will Nate and Serena get together? Or Dan and Blair? I keep hearing rumors, but I have to know if they are true.
One of them is. And I know you smarty-pantses (or wait, is the plural smarty-pantsi?) will figure it out: Nate and Serena are definitely circling toward somethin’ somethin’ (yee!), while I’m told there is nothing in the future (at least not yet) for Blair and Dan. The Gossip Girl writers wouldn’t Dair, would they? (Ba-dum-bump.) And in all seriousness, Blair and Chuck are still strong.

Kristin in Islip, N.Y.: Does the Gossip Girl threesome involve Rufus? I was told it involved Serena’s little brother but can’t be sure. And I’ve missed you!
Not as much as I’ve missed you! And awww…now I’m tearing up…Not so much because I’m all verklempt at our reunion, but because the idea of Roofie in a threesome kinda makes me throw up in my mouth a little. (Sorry.) It’s not Rufus. The participants are cuter and younger, but not as young as Eric van der Woodsen.

Rebecca: What’s the word on 90210?
Jackie Taylor (Ann Gillespie) is going to be killed off, from cancer.
