News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, The O.C. and More

30 04 2010
  • SoapNet is making some significant schedule changes regarding its teen drama lineup. Beginning tomorrow, May 1, One Tree Hill will air for two additional hours on Saturdays, now going from 9am til 1pm. Beverly Hills 90210 has been pushed back to 1pm and will go til 5. Sunday remains unchanged. Then, as of Monday, May 3, The O.C. will only air at 1pm, losing its second hour. One Tree Hill will move an hour earlier, airing at 2pm and 3pm. Beverly Hills 90210 will keep the 11am and noon slots but will now also have 4pm, in addition to their current 5pm slot. That hour, which started airing the show from the beginning in November after the network took away the 6pm timeslot, will repeat the noon episode (and the 4pm slot will repeat the 11am episode). That means though we’re currently in season 4 during the 5pm hour, it will pick up with the middle of season 10, which is what’s currently airing in the morning. The individual show pages above have been updated to reflect these changes.
  • The CW has announced who will be participating in their Tweet Week and when: Robert Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill) will tweet Monday at 8pm eastern. Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl) and Zuzanna Szadkowski (Dorota, Gossip Girl) will tweet Monday at 9pm eastern. Shenae Grimes (Annie, 90210), Michael Steger (Navid, 90210), Tristan Wilds (Dixon, 90210) and Trevor Donovan (Teddy, 90210) will tweet Tuesday at 8pm eastern. All of this will take place at tweet.cwtv.com.
  • Jackson Brundage (Jamie, One Tree Hill) will be a part of CURED’s charity event tomorrow in Illinois.
  • One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and 90210 are all included in TVGuide.com’s photogallery of Must-Watch Finales.
  • TVGuide.com named Annie’s fountain scene in this week’s 90210 the “oddest reaction” in their list of Top Moments of the Week. I disagree.
  • Latina.com has a great but spoiler-filled interview with Diego Boneta (Javier, 90210).
  • Lindsay Price (Janet, Beverly Hills 90210), Hilary Duff (Olivia, Gossip Girl) and Busy Philipps (Audrey, Dawson’s Creeks) are in the “Beautiful At Every Age” section of PEOPLE’s Most Beautiful issue. Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) is in the online version but also in the “Hot List” section of the issue. Jessica Stroup (Silver, 90210), Jessica Lowndes (Adrianna, 90210) and Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl) are in the “Beautiful Jessicas” section. Michelle Williams (Jen, Dawson’s Creek) is in the “Amazing Lookalikes” section.
  • At work today, Gossip Cop and I busted a Star cover story about Katie Holmes (Joey, Dawson’s Creek).

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and The O.C.

27 04 2010
  • Last night’s One Tree Hill (2 million viewers) dropped a bit in the ratings compared to its last episode while Gossip Girl (2 million viewers) rose a bit in the ratings compared to its last episode. The CW sent out a press release touting the numbers for both, noting it was the network’s best Monday since January 18 in terms of demographics, One Tree Hill’s best in certain demos since January 25 and Gossip Girl’s best ratings all around since December 7.
  • One Tree Hill fans will rally this weekend in Wilmington at the actual River Court seen on the show.
  • The blog Pandandrum has an extremely well-written post about why The CW should renew One Tree Hill. I don’t agree with it all of it and it’s not entirely accurate but it is probably the best pro-OTH piece I’ve seen.
  • James Lafferty (Nathan, One Tree Hill) appears in the video for Car Crash by Wakey!Wakey!, which features Mike Grubbs (Grubbs, One Tree Hill).
  • Kristen Bell (Gossip Girl, Gossip Girl) appears in a promo for the MTV Movie Awards.
  • Jessica Szohr (Vanessa, Gossip Girl), AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi, 90210) and Jessica Stroup (Silver, 90210) are included in Crushable’s list of 5 Ladies Who Are (Sorta) Too Old To Be Playing Teenagers.
  • Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) have signed a film deal with Paramount.

  • E! Online has an interview with Robert Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill).
  • Examiner.com has an interview with Stephen Colletti (Chase, One Tree Hill).
  • The CW Source posted an interview with Tyler Hilton (Chris, One Tree Hill). Big oops: Hilton had no idea who Everly was (that’s the band Bethany Joy Galeotti [Haley, One Tree Hill]).
  • The News, a publication at the prep school Choate, has an interesting article on the negative effects of shows like Gossip Girl and 90210.
  • Kind of love this diagram of Gossip Girl hook-ups.

News Roundup: 90210, One Tree Hill and The O.C.

25 04 2010
  • SoapNet has two new promos/videos: the first includes Beverly Hills 90210, One Tree Hill and The O.C. along with the daytime soaps and is set to Sugarland’s It Happens, and the second explicitly features the teen dramas and is set to Outside My Window by Sarah Buxton. They seem to be airing shortened, edited versions but the full videos (which is what I linked to) are available online. I really like them.
  • SoapNet has a One Tree Hill poll asking, “Which Tree Hill character do you miss in the new seasons?” The options are Tim, Bevin and Jake.
  • Star News has a quiz about One Tree Hill. It’s pretty hard unless you are an absolutely DIE-HARD fan and/or a Wilmington resident.
  • TVGuide.com has an interview with James Lafferty (Nathan, One Tree Hill). Have you read my interview with him yet?
  • Star News and CosmoGirl! have interviews with Shantel VanSanten (Quinn, One Tree Hill).
  • SoapNet has a poll for The O.C., asking “Who was better for Ryan?” The options are Marissa and Taylor.

  • Ausiello has a “first look” at a Gossip Girl  promo poster…that makes no sense to me.
  • E! Online has a couple of quotes from Billy Baldwin (William, Gossip Girl) as well as the preview clips for Monday’s Gossip Girl.
  • EW.com named Ed Westwick (Chuck, Gossip Girl) one of 20 Brilliant TV Brits.
  • Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl) was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. The interview is pretty good and funny, despite or perhaps because of two mistakes Kimmel makes.
  • MTV named Crawford one of their top 5 “hot environmentally-minded celebrities.”
  • E! Online has an interview with James Lafferty (Nathan, One Tree Hill). Don’t forget: my interview with James will be posted Sunday!
  • Robert Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill), Shantel VanSanten (Quinn, One Tree Hill) and Carolyn Hennesy (Mrs. Valentine, Dawson’s Creek) were presenters at the PRISM Awards yesterday.
  • Kidult has an interview with VanSanten.
  • AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi, 90210) filmed a PSA for The Thirst Project.
  • TheDailyNewsOnline.com has a pretty good interview with Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • The Wild Girl, starring Green, premieres tomorrow night on the Hallmark Movie Channel.
  • AreYouScreening.com has an interview with Mischa Barton (Marissa, The O.C.), to coincide with the DVD release of Homecoming, which also stars Jessica Stroup (Silver, 90210). It’s a pretty decent interview, though there aren’t any O.C. mentions.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and More

21 04 2010
  • The CW sent out a press release of upcoming sweeps highlights, which Zap2it handily categorized by show. They left some things out, but all of it should be considered spoilers so consider this fair warning. If you guys want, I’ll post it all, as given in the release, in a Spoiler post. Let me know.
  • There is “We Are One” campaign to further encourage The CW to renew One Tree Hill.
  • Examiner.com has an article on the showcase Jana Kramer (Alex, One Tree Hill) had last week.
  • I’ve heard speculation for a while now that Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) has been dating actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan. With no legitimate outlet reporting it, I didn’t post anything on it. But now we’ve got confirmation: the duo appeared on the red carpet last night for his movie The Losers.
  • Kenzie Dalton, girlfriend of Chad Michael Murray (Lucas, One Tree Hill), wrote on her blog that CMM has a graphic novel titled Everlast coming  out this summer.
  • How To Make It In America, starring Bryan Greenberg (Jake, One Tree Hill), has been renewed for a second season on HBO.

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, The O.C., 90210 and One Tree Hill

19 04 2010
  • The Brown Daily Herald has an interesting article on the school’s portrayal in entertainment media, including how it was depicted on Gossip Girl and The O.C.
  • Zap2it has photos of Taylor Momsen (Jenny, Gossip Girl) in her New Look campaign.
  • You can bid on a tour of the Gossip Girl set with Zuzanna Szadkowski (Dorota, Gossip Girl) in support of Shakespeare on the Common.
  • TVGuideMagazine.com has an interesting “exclusive” about Rob Estes (Harry, 90210) leaving the show. Here’s what’s new: quotes from Lori Loughlin (Debbie) and Shenae Grimes (Annie), and the suggestion that the finale is the last episode with Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210).  Loughlin and Grimes don’t seem too happy (though not entirely unhappy, either) and I was under the impression that Garth’s last episode had already aired. Here’s what’s not new: Debbie and Harry are having marriage problems and that will somehow play into Harry’s exit. I leave you to draw your own conclusions.
  • showbizzle, the digital company run by Charles Rosin (executive producer, Beverly Hills 90210), has relaunched its website. There’s a pretty nifty video explaining what showbizzle is (if you haven’t read my interview with Rosin about it–or even if you have!) and you can see a little of Ian Ziering (Steve, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • General Hospital’s headwriter told Soap Opera Digest he is in talks with Vanessa Marcil (Gina, Beverly Hills 90210), something we also heard a few months ago.
  • The New York Post has an article on stars getting acting experience through soap operas and it features a few quotes from Marcil.
  • The new One Tree Hill Connection podcast features an interview with Tym Bucheran (make-up artist, One Tree Hill).

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and The O.C.

17 04 2010
  • Daphne Zuniga (Victoria, One Tree Hill) is spearheading a charity auction to support the Los Angeles River. Among the packages you can bid on: lunch with Zuniga, Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill), Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill), Lisa Goldstein (Millicent, One Tree Hill) and Allison Munn (Lauren, One Tree Hill). Who has $1,000+ they can loan me?
  • Zuniga also recently joined Twitter. She has been added to the Twitter Directory.
  • Forbes named Chuck (Ed Westwick, Gossip Girl) one of the wealthiest fictional characters and did an interview with “him.”
  • News of the World has an interview with Eric Daman (costume designer, Gossip Girl) about the Miss Selfridge collection of Gossip Girl-inspired clothes that will be available in Britain later this month.
  • Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan, The O.C.) was shooting the movie Sin Bin in Chicago last week. Why couldn’t he done it when I lived there?
