RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Daria in Rhode Island: What can we expect on this week’s 90210 finale?
Relationships are a-changin’ in Beverly Hills. Ivy will find out about that kiss between Silver and Dixon, and this does not bode well for the cutesy new couple. And Liam kicks Naomi to the curb after his newfound (or refound) connection with Annie. But she’s busy dealing with the demise of her parents’ marriage, which is officially dunzo by the episode’s end.

Alison in Dover, Del.: Any other goodness you can tease from the 90210 ender?
Hmmm, “goodness” might be the wrong word in this case, but we will say this: Naomi’s financial and emotional heartbreak leads her into the arms of an unsuspecting suitor, and what happens next will push her further down a very dark path. We’re pretty worried about the Naomi we’ll see at the start of next season.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and 90210

11 05 2010
  • Last night’s One Tree Hill (2.1 million rounded up) and Gossip Girl (1.8 million rounded up) both rose a tiny bit in the ratings compared to last week, though Gossip Girl’s raise was teeny tiny.
  • Mark Schwahn (creator, One Tree Hill), Mike Grubbs (Grubbs, One Tree Hill) and some others, under the name Nashville Skyline, co-wrote the song Carry You Home, which will play in the season/series finale’s coda next Monday.
  • Lee Norris (Mouth, One Tree Hill) will be the guest on ArtistsOnDemandRadio next Monday after the season/series finale airs.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Quincy in New York: I’m devastated at the rumor that ***** and ***** will hook up on Gossip Girl! Please say it isn’t so!
It so…is. Sorry. Sources confirm that a certain someone will be doing a certain something for the first time and it will cause some serious heartbreak—for you fans and another girl on the show. And that might not be the only hookup shocker! I’m told that “A Gossip Girl blast goes out about Dan and Serena that will not make Vanessa or Nate happy.” Suffice to say, the finale is going to have lots of romantic upheaval, so buckle up. Oh, and the good news? I’m hearing that at least one core G.G. couple will end up happy at the end of the season. Say your prayers for your fave now!

Katelyn in Oahu: 90210 details are seriously needed.
Liam finally sets sail in his boat, but sadly, it’s almost instantly destroyed in a firey death—with him and Annie on board! And remember that crazy-horrible-mind-blowing thing we’ve teased happens to Naomi? It’s right around the corner and involves an action that’s both physical and devastating.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Laura in Rolling Hills, Calif.: What can you tell us about Georgina’s return to Gossip Girl?
It’s surprisingly good, and it involves Dan (Penn Badgley).

Genevieve in Denver: William isn’t going to ruin Rufus and Lily forever on Gossip Girl, is he?
Don’t let the promos fool you. Billy Baldwin‘s Will van der Woodsen is not all bad—emphasis on the word all. “What’s already going on between Rufus and Lily is what poses some interesting conflicts for everybody,” Billy tells us. “On the outside, Will wants to have his family back, and he wants to have a nuclear, biological family healthy again. That doesn’t necessarily mean he wants to destroy. He wants to have that and still respect the boundaries between Rufus and Lily.” Hah! We’ll believe it when we see it.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Forget about Chuck and Blair! The real craziness that’s going down toward the end of this season of Gossip Girl is all about who’s saying goodbye.

On the heels of the news that Taylor Momsen‘s Jenny Humphrey will be leaving the Upper East Side this season, I’m told now that yet another female regular will be heading off into the sunset. (And leaving one heartbroken boy behind.)

So who is it?

Marcio in Ipswich, Mass.: Could we get some news on One Tree Hill or Melrose Place? Will they both stick around?
Nope. I’m told Melrose Place is pretty much a goner. It would take a miracle for it to survive at this point. However, the jury’s still out on One Tree Hill. The ratings in the next few weeks do matter, and it returns with a new episode tonight. (Hint, hint.)

Bob in Oakland, Calif.: Are we gonna see my girl Kristen Bell again on Party Down?
Yes! Adam Scott spilled the scoop: “When the season starts, Uda (Kristen Bell) is my steady girlfriend. But then Casey (Lizzy Caplan) comes back into the fold and kind of screws everything up.” Thus freeing Kristen to reteam with creator and executive producer Rob Thomas for a Veronica Mars movie, right? We kid. But don’t give up hope yet: “I’d love to do one,” said Rob at the Party Down Paley Center for Media celebration for the show’s second season premiere. “Kristen would love to do one…We [just] need someone to pay for it!” Empty your piggy-banks, kids!

Marlo in London: What’s the scoop on Vanessa and Dan on Gossip Girl?
It’s not looking good long-term, sorry! I’m hearing that Vanessa will be leaving not only New York but the country before the end of the season–running off to a superfancy and superfar job with CNN. So yes, Jessica is the second female, along with Taylor Momsen’s Little J, to head off into the sunset. The good news? I’m told by sources that both ladies will still be series regulars next season. As for you wondering what Little J will do that leads to her departure, I’m told “it’s a culmination of lots of things Jenny does to multiple people.” That doesn’t sound good at all!

Matthew in Philadelphia: What’s the word on Gossip Girl?
Don’t expect Serena to continue to sit idly by while Jenny tries to hone in on Nate. The onetime pals and now stepsisters are headed for some seriously rough times ahead.

Jenelle from Conn.: Yay! One Tree Hill is back tonight! The death of Haley’s mom made for such a great episode! What happens after?
Well, when we talked to James Lafferty, he had this to say: “Haley has a long road ahead of her in dealing with her mother’s death, as anybody would. A big part of the Scott family life will be dealing with the grief. It’s definitely a growing experience for the family.” Another tease? Here’s the deal with Nathan for the rest of the season: “He’s finally got some time to spend with his family, and his family at this point in their lives really needs him,” James tells us. “He really gets the opportunity to be a father and a husband.” Model husband and father? Adorable.

Evelyn in Tacoma, Wash.: 90210 is really getting good, but how are things going to go down between Debbie and Harry if Rob Estes is leaving?
Believe it or not, Annie’s going to be the one to point out the marriage woes between her parents, causing them to really sit down and talk things over. But when Debbie finds out that Harry has pretty much enabled Dixon’s little gambling problems, something (one would find in a diaper) is going to hit the fan.

Notes:

I can’t see why the ratings at this point would have much of an impact on whether One Tree Hill is renewed. To date, One Tree Hill has outperformed both Gossip Girl and 90210, which received early renewals. Even if One Tree Hill dropped during these next four episodes, Gossip Girl and 90210 have dropped significantly in the last few months. OTH wouldn’t be the only show underperforming. Clearly ratings aren’t the biggest factor to The CW. That said I realize there’s more value in GG/90210 at low ratings than there is with OTH at low ratings. If I had to guess–and I’ll do it with a disclaimer that I’m far less experienced than Kristin–I’d say that while decent ratings are preferred, OTH’s renewal will really be based on how The CW’s pilots turn out and whether the network would rather risk starting a new series or risk sticking with an aging one.

Kristen Bell voices Gossip Girl on, um, Gossip Girl.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Mike in Alexandria, Va.: I’m dying for news on One Tree Hill! Please tell us, will it survive? Or will the CW pick up Life Unexpected instead?
Still no decisions yet, but they both could come back—possibly with shortened seasons, so keep the faith! We’ll find out May 20. As for OTH, I’ll be (hopefully) talking to James Lafferty and/or Rob Buckley this week, so please email me any Q’s you have or send them via twitter @kristinalert.

Erica in Turkey: We need some Chuck and Blair scoop that is good please on Gossip Girl!
I’m so sad to have to say this, but I don’t have anything new to report on the Chair front. I’m trying to keep the faith with you, and I know they will reunite at some point, but it might not be superquick, sorry.

Elise from Austin, Texas: I just can’t get on board with Gia and Adrianna on 90210. I miss her and Navid being together. Any hope?
Well, I’d say yes, after sitting down with Michael Steger to talk about the rest of the season. He says Navid and Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) “develop a strong friendship again.” That’s good news, yes? I can also tell you that their bond gets stronger because of some changes in her music career. And what of Navid’s new girl Lila (Amber Wallace)? “We take it to another level, but it’s a temporary thing,” Michael dishes. So hope is lost for all you Adrianna/Navid fans!

Rebecca in Oregon: Any hope for Naomi and Liam?
I’m told she’ll be single for a while. Sorry.

Notes:

Life Unexpected stars Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek).

I think there’s a typo in this sentence: “So hope is lost for all you Adrianna/Navid fans!” Based on the sentences before it, it probably should read “So no hope is lost for all you Adrianna/Navid fans!” Or, alternatively, “All hope is not lost for all you Adrianna/Navid fans!”

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

“Stop calling Jenny Humphrey a homewrecker!”

It’s the recent cry of many of you Little J-loving Gossip Girl fans, who feel we’ve been treating the Upper East Side’s new queen unfairly in recent weeks, calling her the H-word and hinting that she may trying to steal Nate (Chace Crawford) away from Serena (Blake Lively).

Sorry! When I interviewed Gossip Girl bosses Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, Josh joked of the H-word: “We think the word speaks for itself, Kristin.” And so, I promise to stop using it…Um, after this one last time, because now, I’m hearing there is very good cause, and it has to do with those rumors that a certain Gossip Girl star is leaving the show.

Marissa in Boise, Idaho: You’ve gotta stop it with the “Jenny is a homewrecker” stuff.
So sorry, but as I hinted above, Jenny is indeed about to meddle, and I’m not referring to Nate and Serena. I’m actually talking about her dad, Rufus, and stepmom, Lily. I’m hearing that Little J is going to try to do some bad things to their relationship, and then…yes, she’s going away. But the good news for you Jenny fans (finally!) is that contrary to some rumors you may have heard, she is not dying. I’m told Taylor Momsen will be back in season four. At least, that’s the plan.

Shannon G.: We last saw Jasper in the hospital before being admitted into psychiatric treatment. Is this the last we will see of him on 90210, or is there a chance he could pop back into the picture at some time?
Poor Annie’s not in the clear just yet! Jasper will most definitely be back and causing more woes along the way. In fact, he’s a huge part of that out-of-this-world finale we’ve been telling you so much about. Well, he and his dead “uncle.”

Kassie in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.: What else is ahead on 90210?
Some seriously big things are coming up in Beverly Hills…I’m hearing the finale shocker has to do with Naomi’s big sexual harassment lie, and in the meantime, her evil sis Jen returns.

  • MTV has a short interview with Eric Daman (costume designer, Gossip Girl).
  • I don’t post these every week but I figured I’d share this time: 90210 had the most DVR growth, percentage wise, in the 18-49 demographic than any other network show during the week of March 22. Gossip Girl ranked fourth. (It’s noteworthy, for One Tree Hill renewal/cancellation purposes, that Melrose Place ranked second.) The CW sent out a press release with all the numbers.
  • Laura Leighton (Sophie, Beverly Hills 90210) will return to Melrose Place tomorrow night for the season finale.
