RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Is Rob Estes leaving 90210? — Barbara
MICKEY: Yes. As has been previously reported, neither he nor Jennie Garth will be back next season. It’s no secret that the new showrunners have officially shut down Operation Nostalgia. Shannen Doherty tells us that plans for Brenda to return have been scrapped, and don’t expect Donna to ever drop in from Tokyo again — with or without David.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, Gossip Girl and The O.C.

1 06 2010
  • Despite some outlets looking favorably on the network, The TV Addict gave The CW a C- for the season.
  • The CW sent me screeners for Hellcats, featuring Matt Barr (Ian “Psycho Derek” Banks, One Tree Hill) and Robbie Jones (Quentin, One Tree Hill), as well as Nikita, featuring Melinda Clarke (Julie, The O.C.). After I watch them, I will post some thoughts, like I did for Life Unexpected.
  • Encore has an interview with Mike Grubbs (Grubbs, One Tree Hill). Have you read my interview with him?
  • Starpulse has an interview with Tyler Hilton (Chris, One Tree Hill).
  • TV Fanatic gave 90210 a C for the season, making quite a few great points about the show’s flaws and what it needs to work on.
  • You know all those questions we had after the 90210 season finale? On why promised or hinted to things never actually happened? E! Online has some answers and I, for one, am pissed off. (Of course, that’s nothing new for me in regards to this show but still…)
  • Jason Priestley (Brandon, Beverly Hills 9021o) will have a recurring role on ABC’s Scoundrels, which premieres June 20. Thanks to Jethro and Gina for alerting me to the news. Not sure what this means for Call Me Fitz, if anything.
  • The Stir has an interview with Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210).
  • Zap2it has an interesting article debating whether the Gossip Girl season 2 finale or season 3 finale was better.
  • McG (executive producer, The O.C.) will produce the film The DUFF, based on a novel of the same name.

Second Annual 90210 Evaluation

30 05 2010

With the One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl evaluations complete (results for GG will be posted later today), the last set before the final match-up is 90210.

You have until Tuesday at 11:59pm to answer the polls.

**Please remember your answers should be based solely on the season that just ended, except for the last question, which is about the show overall.**

Note: The format is wonky for the open-ended questions.  Please put your answer in the “other” space.

News Roundup: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210 and Dawson’s Creek

28 05 2010
  • I personally haven’t yet calculated the season averages for Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and 90210 but in comparison to other network shows, here’s how they stacked up: IN 18-49 DEMO, GG ranked 111, OTH 115 and 90210 119, out of 124 shows.  IN TOTAL VIEWERS, OTH ranked 119, GG 120 and 90210 121.
  • Tomorrow is the last day to vote in the Gossip Girl Evaluation.
  • Joanna Garcia (Bree, Gossip Girl) is engaged to Nick Swisher, who plays for the Yankees.
  • The Park Record has an interesting article on whether the One Tree Hill season finale, which was mostly filmed in Park City, will benefit them at all.
  • PEOPLE.com has a brief interview with Shenae Grimes (Annie, 90210) about her look at the Gracie Awards this week, which were attended by some other teen drama stars as well.
  • Kristin compiled a list of her 20 favorite shows from the past 20 years. None of our teen dramas made the list but Beverly Hills 90210 and Dawson’s Creek are eligible in the readers’ poll.
  • Gossip Cop busted a false Perez Hilton post about Katie Holmes (Joey, Dawson’s Creek) and hubby Tom Cruise…and Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson’s Creek).

Happy Birthday Michael Steger!

Check out Steger in the trailer for Assisting Venus.

I haven’t found a U.S. release date for the film yet but I’ll stay on the look-out.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill, 90210, The O.C. and Gossip Girl

26 05 2010
  • I am deeply saddened to report that Disney has decided to cease operations of SoapNet beginning in 2012. The network is being replaced with Disney Junior. As you are all aware, SoapNet currently airs reruns of One Tree Hill, Beverly Hills 90210 and The O.C. I do not know what this means for the syndication deals currently in place for those shows. Quite frankly, I am still trying to process this development. In the meantime, I have four things to offer: the press release from Disney, a post from SoapNet and articles from the New York Times and Entertainment Weekly, the latter of which makes some very interesting points. Thank you to Daniel and Gloria for alerting me to the news.
  • In the last Weekly Poll, all three questions had results with large margins. Sixty-three percent believe Quinn and Clay aren’t dead on One Tree Hill, though 5 percent believe it’s quite possible. Another 17 percent have no idea but hope not while 15 percent have no idea but hope so. The Jenny-Chuck storyline on Gossip Girl made 64 percent of voters feel disgusted while just 17 percent were entertained. Nine percent were torn while 10 percent are still trying to process it. Lastly, 71 percent believe 90210’s Naomi was about to be raped by Mr. Cannon. Nineteen percent don’t think that’s happened while 10 percent had no idea. The Weekly Poll will be on hiatus during, um, the hiatus. In the meantime, we have the show evaluations and soon I’ll be resuming weekly trivia on Twitter.
  • Korbi has the next part of her interview with Mark Schwahn (creator, One Tree Hill). Here he discusses whether he wants the show to continue past an eighth season.
  • Registration has opened for Christy-Anne’s second One Tree Hill fan reunion, which will be held this July.
  • Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210) performed during last night’s Dancing With The Stars finale. I haven’t found YouTube video of it yet to link to.
  • Gossip Cop and I busted a false National Enquirer story about Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) and Megan Fox.
  • The Huffington Post has an interesting interview with the band Rooney, and there’s some references to their appearance on The O.C.
  • Josh Schwartz (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage (executive producer, Gossip Girl; The O.C.) will produce the film Fun Size with their new company Fake Empire.
  • ESPN has a short interview with Ron Machado, who appears with Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) in her Vogue spread.

News Roundup: One Tree Hill and 90210

25 05 2010
  • Tomorrow is the last day to vote in the One Tree Hill Evaluation.
  • Korbi has an interview with Mark Schwahn (creator, One Tree Hill), where he explains the second ending the season finale had in case it was a series finale. It’s what a lot of people speculated…but I’m still not sure I believe it–or if it’s even fair to call it a “second ending.”
  • Bleacher Report has a brief interview with Stephen Colletti (Chase, One Tree Hill), where he drops this gem: “This will be the last season.” It seems Jana Kramer (Alex, One Tree Hill) may have said something similar to E! Online. Regardless, I haven’t seen this officially confirmed anywhere.
  • Sophia Bush (Brooke, One Tree Hill) surprisingly opened up to E! Online about her relationship with Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill), reportedly even talking about it in light of her marriage/divorce with Chad Michael Murray (Lucas, One Tree Hill).
  • Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) has booked a six-episode stint on White Collar, which also stars Tiffani Amber Thiessen (Valerie, Beverly Hills 90210). The new season starts in July.
  • HollywoodLife has a brief but spoilish interview with AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi, 90210) about what happened in the finale and what may happen in season 3.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Does the new CW schedule mean that both ‘Life Unexpected’ and ‘One Tree Hill’ got full-season orders? – fatherdowling via Twitter
No, it does not. CW entertainment chief Dawn Ostroff wouldn’t specify the episode count for each, but indicated they are likely starting off with 12 or 13, then seeing how the ratings fare.

I need some great news about ‘Gossip Girl’s Chuck and Blair. The finale was so sad for them. – Fernanda
I don’t know if this is great per se, but it’s certainly hopeful: The CW’s surprisingly spoilery fall press release says that as Blair and Serena cavort in Paris, “Chuck mysteriously arrives in town with a new girlfriend and a new identity. Blair swore off Chuck forever but will this changed man woo Blair into having a change of heart?” My only quibble: Paris is a town?

How will ‘90210’s hit-and-run storyline be wrapped up? – Susan
The question may not be how so much as when. I asked Tristan Wilds for the scoop on his “sister” Annie finally shaking this albatross, and he said, “I don’t know how soon it will come to a close…. It’s very smart how they have kept that story going.” Tristan at least joins me in wanting that Jasper dude gone, and quick, agreeing, “He’s too weasely!”.
