News Roundup: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and The O.C.

  • Be sure to check out The CW’s site for all the new video content this week.
  • Last night’s One Tree Hill ( 2. 7 million viewers rounded up) and Gossip Girl ( 2.3 million viewers) both increased in the ratings compared to last week.  One Tree Hill raised quite dramatically to a season high in both total viewers and the key demographics, according to a press release.
  • The new One Tree Hill Connection podcast has an interview with Amanda Schull (Sara, One Tree Hill) and The Avett Brothers, who song “I and Love and You” was the title of last night’s episode.
  • SoapNet has a short piece on James Lafferty (Nathan, One Tree Hill) directing last night’s episode, and some photos too.

  • SoapNet has a poll asking which OTH couple is the strangest pairing.

  • This article by The Frisky really nails some of my points on the problems with Gossip Girl–and why The O.C. was so much better.
  • Both Gossip Girl and 90210 made Zap2it’s list of the worst TV theme songs of current shows.
  • Blake Lively (Serena, Gossip Girl) lost to AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi, 90210) in an Access Hollywood poll of who should be the next Bond Girl.  They both lost, though, to Eliza Dushku.
  • SoapNet also has a poll asking which girl was the best for Dylan (Luke Perry, Beverly Hills 90210).  I think you know by now that my vote will always go to Kelly (Jennie Garth, Beverly Hills 90210), as they are my all-time favorite couple.
  • They also have another poll asking which actor from The O.C. has been the most successful.

  • 90210 ( 2.2 million viewers) stayed the same in the ratings last night, compared to last week.
  • AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi, 90210) is in a Fashion Face-off on E!Online.  Coincidentally, one of the competitors is Ashley Tisdale who guest-starred on Beverly Hills 90210.
  • Trevor Donovan (Teddy, 90210) is MTV’s Hump Day Hottie.
  • Star News has a great article on Robert Buckley (Clay, One Tree Hill).
  • Kate Voegele (Mia, One Tree Hill) did a video interview with Artisan News.
  • Penn Badgley (Dan, Gossip Girl) did a group interview via conference call with several universities (including the one I went to!).
  • Mischa Barton (Marissa, The O.C.) spoke with Access Hollywood about the failure of The Beautiful Life and where she’ll go from here.
  • PEOPLE.com has a short piece on Rachel Bilson (Summer, The O.C.).

  • There’s a new Mark Schwahn preview for next week’s One Tree Hill. Be sure to check out The CW for all the new extras posted this week for OTH, Gossip Girl and 90210.
  • MTV.com has an article on that ‘that’s what she said’ jokes that Brooke (Sophia Bush, One Tree Hill) keeps doing.
  • There is a new One Tree Hill Connection podcast.
  • WakeyWakey tweeted that they are filming a cameo on One Tree Hill.
  • Star News has an interview with Allison Scagliotti (Abby, One Tree Hill), which covers all the same things mine did.
  • Desmond Harrington (Jack  Bass, Gossip Girl) will be back this season.
  • Mercy, starring Michelle Tracthenberg (Georgina, Gossip Girl) premieres tomorrow night.
  • Ivanka Trump, who got a shout-out in last week’s Gossip Girl, says she’s a fan of the show and Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick).

  • The Los Angeles Times has a spoilish-interview with Michael Steger (Navid, 90210). I had no idea he was engaged!
  • ChicagoNow has a video interview with Christina Moore (Tracy, 90210).
  • This is kind of random but I thought it was interesting: Sweet Valley High, which starred Brittany Daniels (Eve, Dawson’s Creek) is being remade by Diablo Cody, who had a cameo on 90210 last season.
  • TeenTelevision.com has an interview with Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson’s Creek).
  • Cam Gigandet (Volchok, The O.C.) will star in the film Burlesque.

  • BuddyTV and Star News have interviews with Mark Schwahn, One Tree Hill’s creator.
  • TVGuide.com has an interview with Robert Buckley (Clayton, One Tree Hill).
  • TVGuide.com all has a Fall Preview video that includes a segment on One Tree Hill.

  • Eric Balfour (Eddie, The O.C.) has joined the cast of The Beautiful Life, where he’ll be working with Barton again.
  • Kevin Williamson (creator, Dawson’s Creek) gave his own DC-Vampire Diaries comparison–by mostly saying they’re different.  He does say he’s open to having DC alumni on the show, though.

  • 90210 is one of EW.com’s TV Highlights for last week.
  • Matt Lanter (Liam, 90210) and Rumer Willis (Gia, 90210) both star in Sorority Row,  which hit theaters yesterday.
  • The CW Source has a podcast for last week’s 90210.
  • The CW Source also has two podcasts looking back at One Tree Hill’s season 2 episodes.
  • Star News posted photos of some of the One Tree Hill cast at a charity event.
  • Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) has some  new vlogs on SoGoPro.

  • Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills 90210) is back on Twitter with a slightly different username.
  • According to Michael Cudlitz (Tony, Beverly Hills 90210), James Eckhouse (Jim, Beverly Hills 90210) will be on an upcoming episode of Southland.
  • At the premiere for Extract, a film in which Dustin Milligan (Ethan, 90210) appears, he discussed how he won’t be back on the show.  Jessica Stroup (Silver, 90210), his girlfriend, was also there.
  • AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi) is on the cover of the first issue of Beauty Entertainment Magazine.
  • TVGuideMagazine.com has a spoilish interview with McCord and Matt Lanter (Liam, 90210).
  • Star News posted a “first look” photo gallery for One Tree Hill’s seventh season.
  • According to the Associated Press, it hasn’t been decided what will happen to Antwon Tanner (Skills, One Tree Hill) in regards to his role on OTH.  Tanner plead guilty last week to fraud charges.
  • Ausiello has interesting spoilers on a Chuck (Ed Westwick, Gossip Girl) storyline for this season.
  • MTV is developing a U.S. version of Skins to be the “absolute opposite of Gossip Girl.”
  • Michelle Trachtenberg (Georgina, Gossip Girl) will star in Young Americans alongside Chris Pratt (Che, The O.C.). Coincidentally, Young Americans used to be the name of a show on The WB, a spin-0ff of Dawson’s Creek which starred Rodney Scott (Will, Dawson’s Creek).
  • MTV has an interview with Adam Brody (Seth, The O.C.) on his role in Jennifer’s Body.

  • Interview Magazine has a great interview–and some interesting photos–with Chace Crawford (Nate, Gossip Girl).  There’s even a Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills 90210) reference!  And the best part: he confirms what I already told you–he is not on Twitter!
  • You can vote Gossip Girl as the Show Most in Need of a Vampire Character in The Tubey Awards.
  • Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill both have nominations in the Biggest WTF?!? Moment category of The Sourcies.
  • The special features from the Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and 90210 DVDs are making their way onto YouTube.  For many of the OTH ones, check out the One Tree Hill Blog.
