- Be sure to check out The CW’s site for all the new video content this week.
- Last night’s One Tree Hill (2.7 million viewers rounded up) and Gossip Girl (2.4 million viewers rounded up) saw a great increase in the ratings compared to last week. One Tree Hill matched its season-high, and The CW sent out a press release touting that and Gossip Girl’s increases in the key demographics.
- Examiner.com has an interview with Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill). I love what he says about The Notebook. It’s both kind of sweet in an idealistic way and funny in a realistic way. By the way, have you read my interview with Nichols?
- MTV picked up The Notebook comments as well. It’s even more interesting when you consider that Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley, One Tree Hill) is adapting the movie into a musical. That’s what Lee Norris (Mouth) was referring to in our interview.
- The One Tree Hill Connection has a new podcast with an interview with Mike Grubbs of WakeyWakey who played, um, Grubbs in last night’s episode.
- PEOPLE.com has a poll asking if the Gossip Girl threesome was “too sexy or too safe.”
- The Parents Television Council released a new statement in response to the episode.
- I really enjoyed TVGuideMagazine.com‘s take on the threesome and Variety has an interesting comparison to Two and a Half Men.
- Gossip Girl has been nominated for Favorite TV Obsession and Blake Lively (Serena) was nominated for Favorite TV Drama Actress in the People’s Choice Awards, where fans actually vote for the winners.
- In case you missed my coverage, Dawson’s Creek: The Complete Series was released on DVD today. They also finally updated the Web site!
- Just noticed that James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) tweeted about the Chad Michael Murray (Charlie, Dawson’s Creek; Lucas, One Tree Hill) comments at the Paley panel.
- In advance of its January premiere, EW.com is already telling readers to watch Life UneXpected, which stars Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek).
- Adam Brody (Seth, The O.C.) says he tried doing his own singing for Jennifer’s Body but they didn’t like his voice.

EPISODE 2.09: A Trip To The Moon
- Previously on: Jackie has cancer, Annie accuses Jasper of being a drug dealer, Sasha is pregnant and keeping the baby, Liam and Ivy hook up, Debbie finds out Sasha isn’t pregnant, Dixon hears Sasha has a miscarriage, Teddy tells Silver his mom had cancer, Jen and Liam threaten each other, Adrianna goes back to drugs which are given to her by Jasper
- This is the second episode of the sweeps period.
- Harry tells Dixon he got him back on the surf team
- Dixon says he won’t rejoin–he missed practices so he’ll face the consequences.
- Dixon regrets fighting with Sasha instead of helping her.
- Harry says she probably just wants to move on alone.
- He’s tried calling her but she won’t respond. He assumes she’s devastated about the miscarriage.
- He says he can’t go on with his life while she’s suffering.
- Harry tells Debbie that Dixon seems miserable.
- Debbie says he’ll be more miserable if he knew Sasha lied and manipulated him.
- Debbie tells Harry to trust him–he’ll snap out of it soon and they can all move forward.
- Apparently it’s been a few days since the last episode.
- Silver is giving Jackie medication and going over her “schedule”–nurses, doctors, medical tests, etc.
- Jackie looks a lot worse. Sad.
- Silver has a binder organizing everything. Wonder if she made it.
- Ha. Jackie asks her how she got so organized.
- Silver says she was always organized, and recounts how in 5th grade, she set up a class trip to the zoo.
- Jackie isn’t remembering.
- Silver then says she’s organized in order to stage manager, which she’s done since like 7th grade.
- Jackie still seems surprised.
- I’d like to point out now before we go further that the original 90210 ended with Silver as 8 years old and Jackie being a great mother since the day she was born. So if they claim any badness happened before she was 8, that doesn’t work and would just piss me off.
- Silver is now at school with Naomi.
- I wish we got more history on those two.
- It’s almost Silver’s half-birthday (?) but she doesn’t want to do anything because a lot is going on.
- Jamie has asked Naomi on a date.
- They are happy to see Adrianna in school.
- She says she’s doing better and she’s sorry she’s such a mess.
- Naomi says she understands why she was so upset and Silver says she’s glad to see her better.
- Really, Adrianna just looks numb. Must be the drugs.
- Silver leaves and Adrianna asks Naomi how she is.
- Naomi says how Silver doesn’t want to celebrate but they’ll get her a gift anyway.
- Adrianna says she’s “low on funds” so Naomi gives her $150 for the gift. But we know where that will go…
- Liam tries to tell Ryan that Jen is psychotic but he won’t listen.
- Ryan instead suggests that maybe Liam’s father was right–he’s just a bad kid.
- Ivy comes up all happy and joking but Liam is brooding and tells her to “back off.”
- Q1: You’re not my girlfriend.–Liam
- Naomi is still trying to convince Silver to celebrate her half-birthday party.
- Teddy comes up, as Naomi brags about the dress she got for the party.
- She leaves and Teddy says Silver doesn’t seem the type to make a big deal about birthdays.
- Silver says it’s a long story and Teddy says it’s a long walk to class.
- She says it was her 10th birthday that was going to be in the backyard overnight with stars and a tent but Jackie got trashed and they couldn’t have the party.
- 10th birthday–okay, that works. So sometime between ages 8 and 10, Jackie fell off the wagon. Hmm.
- Ever since then, Silver says, she’s learned not to expect much.
- Q2: If you don’t have high expecations, you can’t get let down.–Silver
- Teddy jokes about what to get for a half-birthday gift: half-DVD, half bottle of champagnge, half-bikini.
- Adrianna sees them together and is not happy.
- Silver notices and becomes unhappy too.
- Navid is watching footage of Gia doing the news report on drugs.
- Jasper comes in, introduces himself, and then point-blank asks why he told Annie he was a drug dealer.
- Navid explains he heard from a friend of a friend.
- Jasper says he should’ve checked his sources, just like he does with his stories.
- Jasper says he’s not a drug dealer–he’s just unpopular with no friends so people like to spread rumors and gossip.
- He adds that it “feels crappy” and leaves.
- Navid is speechless–because he believes him or because he doesn’t?
- Annie happily goes over to Jasper, who is just as glad to see her.
- He tells her he has big news: he showed his father clips of the movie who showed it to an industry guy who liked it.
- Annie’s excited but there’s more.
- There’s a Shia LaBeouf movie that his dad is producing and he got Annie an audition.
- She freaks out–in a happy way.
- Jasper makes her promise she won’t forget him when he’s famous.
- She jokes that she’ll still need someone to get her coffee.
- Ivy asks the guys if Liam is coming to lunch and Teddy says he’s in a bad mood and bit his head off earlier.
- Ivy tries to smoothly ask what was wrong with Liam but the guys aren’t giving answers.
- Dixon says Liam isn’t the type to talk about his feelings but Ivy questions if something is really wrong.
- The guys continue to joke and Ivy accuses of them of not being good friends.
- Silver mentions the Santa Anas affecting her. Interesting because Kelly always said the same thing. It was a big motif in the original for her and Dylan.
- She’s having lunch with Adrianna and explains that she and Teddy are just being friends since they bonded over moms with cancer.
- But she says she’ll end the friendship if it bothers her.
- Adrianna said if this is what it takes to help her deal, then she’s fine with it.
- Silver is thrilled.
- Ade excuses herself to go the bathroom. While there, she’s takes a few pills and stares blankly into the mirror.
- Silver is at home and on the phone, looking a bit stressed.
- Teddy comes over, bringing her her homework and coffee.
- Why doesn’t she have her homework?
- Silver explains that someone needs to stay with Jackie but she needs to run an errand for Jackie.
- Teddy says she’ll stay with her. He has experience.
- She thanks him and leaves.
- Dixon tells Navid he wishes Sasha knew how sorry he was.
- Wasn’t sure Dixon was going to tell anyone what happened.
- Navid sees Jasper and ditches Dixon.
- He watches afar as Jasper gets into Adrianna’s car.
- Adrianna wants to buy more drugs but she only has $20.
- Jasper says she can’t buy some–she needs to buy old.
- She takes the money meant for Silver’s gift and buys the drugs.
- Navid watches as Jasper gets out of the car, counting the money, and Ade drives off.
- And again we go into commercial with Navid scowling…
- Silver comes home to see Teddy and Jackie laughing and having fun together.
- They are playing cards together.
- Aw, Teddy can be really charming sometimes.
- Adrianna is her room, completely in a fog.
- But she gets happy when she sees that Navid is calling.
- She’s happy to hear from him and he cuts to the case.
- Q4: Ade, I saw you buying drugs today.–Navid
- He asks why she started using again and she denies it.
- He says he saw her in the car with Jasper and she tells he’s wrong.
- Q5: Why do you even care?–Adrianna
- She hangs up on him.
- Dixon tells his parents that he’s going to Sasha’s to apologize to her and make sure she’s okay.
- Debbie is alarmed, of course, because she lied about the miscarriage.
- She tries to cover by saying Sasha doesn’t want to him now.
- And Dixon attributes that to his behavior and that’s why he wants to apologize.
- Harry covers saying it’s dinnertime and Dixon says he’ll go later.
- So Debbie says she has something to tell him.
- Q6: Sasha didn’t have a miscarriage. She wasn’t pregnant.–Debbie
- Dixon is, understandably, confused.
- Debbie says she was suspicious, went to see Sasha, and caught her in lies. She then lied about the miscarriage to “save face.”
- Dixon is shocked that she wasn’t pregnant and his parents knew all along.
- Debbie says it’s her fault. Harry wanted to be honest but she didn’t.
- Q7: I didn’t want you to get your heart broken and not trust women.–Debbie
- Dixon has a good reply but I missed it.
- Annie and Jasper are rehearsing for her audition.
- It’s interesting that we have 2 characters that want to be actresses.
- Jasper is complimenting her and says he’s so lucky to have found her.
- He gets back to work and she blurts out…
- Q8: “I love you.” “That’s not your line.” “I know.”–Annie and Jasper
- She apologizes when Jasper is silent, saying she shouldn’t have seen it.
- Q9: “No, Annie. It’s just that I wanted to be the one to say it first.”–Jasper
- They start making out.
- Promo for 90210’s partnership with Warriors in Pink, in honor of breast cancer. They’re running a contest to win a car. Hmmm.
- Back at school, Navid passes Jasper.
- Q10: “You scumbag.” “Good morning to you, too.”–Navid and Jasper
- Navid tells Jasper he saw them make a drug deal.
- Jasper tells him he loaned her lunch money and she was paying him back.
- Navid almost looks like he’s believing it but then tells him to stay away from her.
- Jasper says again that he’s not a drug dealer and if he was, he wouldn’t be the type you want to mess with.
- Liam is on the beach with Ivy and Teddy but is still all POed.
- He’s not nice to Teddy so Teddy asks what’s wrong but he claims nothing and walks off.
- Teddy shrugs and tells Ivy he tried.
- Silver comes home and finds her mom in a room themed according to the planets.
- Jackie say she wants to make up for the birthdays she missed.
- This is supposed to be for her 7th birthday when she wants to be an astronaut. Um, THAT DOESN’T WORK PEOPLE!
- Now they move to a different room that’s decorated like space.
- Not quite sure how Jackie is well enough to be walking all around like this with enthusiasm.
- Next room is 80s-themed for Silver’s 12th birthday. That I can (grudgingly) accept.
- Silver asks Jackie how she did all this and she said Teddy was the biggest help.
- Just occurred to me that this isn’t even the same house from the original show (I guess I can’t expect it to be) and they haven’t explained that.
- Debbie apologizes to Dixon again. She says her intentions were gone but “obviously I was wrong.”
- He walks out and she still tries to talk to him.
- Harry steps in but Dixon isn’t having it.
- Q11: Whatever. It’s not like she’s my real mom.–Dixon
- Cut to a stunned Debbie and cue the commercial!
- Silver and Jackie are now doing a “camping” party, roasting marshmellows in front of a tent.
- Jackie now looks sick again and is back in her PJs and no wig.
- Silver says she loves scary movies because it let her forget her problems.
- Jackie realizes she means their relationship was the problem.
- Silver says it was hard having her mom never there and never even knowing if she would come home at night.
- Jackie apologizes but says she knows it doesn’t make up for anything.
- Sorry, but this is exactly what happened with Kelly and Jackie in season 1. And Jackie LEARNED from her mistakes. That’s why it would never happen again with Silver.
- I can’t stand that they are doing this again! It just doesn’t work and it’s not fair to the original fans, writers, etc.
- Silver says that the apology doesn’t make up for anything but this (the birthday recreation) does.
- She says she always afraid Jackie would binge and die without them having any memories but now they have memories. She starts to cry.
- Jackie tells Silver to save her energy, since tomorrow is her actual half-birthday and all her friends are coming over.
- Teddy is happy to see Dixon back on the beach.
- They do a not-so-subtle plug for iPhone apps.
- Teddy asks Dixon what’s been wrong and he reveals Sasha wasn’t pregnant.
- So I guess Teddy did know. We never saw Dixon tell anyone, though. We saw him keeping it all a secret.
- They share a light-hearted moment until…
- They see Liam getting into a fight with another surfer and break it up.
- Liam is even more POed and storms off.
- They, with Ivy, catch up with him and demand to know what’s wrong.
- They say they are his friends and friends tell each other what’s going on.
- So Liam says someone (ahem, Jen) has been telling lies about him.
- He walks off again and they follow, asking who.
- He says Jen, Naomi’s sister is the one.
- Teddy makes a comment about Jen being hot but it doesn’t help.
- Liam says she told lies to Ryan, to his mom, etc.
- They want to know what about but he refuses.
- They say they’ll wait him out so he gives in.
- He explains that Jen tricked him into having sex on prom night, saying he was Naomi’s neighbor and baiting him.
- Dixon is shocked that it wasn’t actually Annie.
- Liam reiterates that he told him a while ago it wasn’t Annie.
- I hope Dixon apologizes to her.
- They all vow to help Liam get revenge.
- He’s pleasantly surprised.
- Jasper is working on his footage when Annie comes in.
- She’s upset because she didn’t get the part.
- He calls his dad an idiot and tells her she’s better than the other girls.
- He compares it to a guy losing the role of Tarzan to Clark Gable.
- Q12: You’ll get your part, Jane.–Jasper
- He calls her a star, “an old-fashioned star.”
- He lays on all the compliments again. The last one:
- Q13: And you’re Annie.–Jasper.
- Wow.
- I thought she was Jane? (Kidding.)
- They kiss and she tells him again that she loves him.
- Q14: I want my first time to be with you.–Annie
- Oh, Ethan. Where are you right now?
- He asks if she’s sure she’s ready and she says she’s “positive.”
- So they go for it…even though she seems nervous.
- But now she’s into it.
- Liam catches up to Ivy and apologizes.
- She say she understands now why he was in a bad mood.
- He says he’s apologizing for what he said at school–about her not being his girlfriend.
- She says it’s cool–she knows they’re just having fun.
- He asks her to grab food but she says another time.
- He leaves but then she calls after him. She will go to eat with him.
- Navid is doing a search on Jasper Herman and finds out, what he already knew, that he’s the nephew of the guy died in the hit-and-run.
- Gia gets off the phone, saying her friend won’t help them nail Jasper.
- Q15: We have to bring this dirtbag down.–Navid
- Annie is her room, happily texting love notes with Jasper.
- Dixon comes in and Annie’s smile is gone.
- He immediately starts apologizing.
- She asks if it’s about him calling Jasper “sketchy.”
- And he says no, it’s not about that actually.
- Annie says she’s not surprised since Dixon clearly isn’t a “good judge of character.”
- Q16: “Your girlfriend faked a miscarriage. Sounds like a real winner.” “Go to hell.”–Annie and Dixon
- Naomi is at the beach club, when Ade comes up crying and sad (drugged out?).
- She claims she was mugged–taking all her stuff and the money for Silver’s gift.
- Naomi asks if she called the police and she said yes but they can’t do anything because she didn’t call the guy.
- She breaks into tears and then Naomi hugs her. Great acting, Ade.
- Debbie looks in on Dixon sleeping. She’s crying.
- My heart is kind of breaking for her. And there’s tears in my eyes.
- Anyway…
- Silver and Jackie are sleeping in the tent when her phone rings. It’s Teddy.
- He’s the first person to wish her a Happy Half-Birthday.
- She thanks him “for everything.”
- They hang up and she goes to wake up Jackie…who won’t wake up.
- Okay, now I’m REALLY crying. I knew it was coming but we know how I feel about this storyline–the character, the actor, the history. It just SUCKS.
- Silver calls 911 and we fade to black.
- Preview: Annie tells her parents she’s seeing someone, Navid tells Dixon about Jasper being a drug dealer, Jasper comes over for dinner and meets Annie’s parents.
Those are my thoughts. What are yours?

10 11 2009RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!
Is ‘One Tree Hill’ planning anything special for its 150th episode? – Shailee
‘OTH’ will hit that milestone with this season’s 20th episode, but as of yet there are no specific celebration plans in place. So make your suggestions now! If you recall, ‘Tree Hill’ turned 100 with a Season 5 cliffhanger that featured Lucas and Lindsey’s non-wedding and nanny Carrie’s kidnapping of wee Jamie. How does one top that?

TDW Exclusive: Dawson’s Creek Star Mary Beth Peil on Playing Grams
10 11 2009In honor of today’s release of Dawson’s Creek: The Complete Series, I’ve rounded up some key cast and crew to reflect on the monumental series. If you followed my coverage of the Paley Center panel, you probably noticed a certain lady was MIA: Mary Beth Peil, better known as the one and only Grams.
I was lucky enough to track her down. In our interview below, Peil discusses her favorite parts of playing grandmother to Michelle William’s Jen and shares memories of her time at Northwestern University, where we each attended college.
Enjoy the first part of TDW’s stroll down memory creek…
TeenDramaWhore: You started out as an opera singer and then moved on to theater. What attracted you to a serialized drama about teenagers?
Mary Beth Peil: My life as an opera singer had NOTHING to do with a teen drama other than the fact that, having left opera in my early 40s, I was working very hard to prove myself as a legitimate actress and musical theatre performer. When the audition came along I went with the attitude of “nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
TDW: Do you think you share any qualities with Grams?
Peil: Age-wise I am closer to Grams NOW than when we started. I always thought of Grams as in her late 60s, early 70s. When we started the show, I was 57. I have a wonderful relationship with my daughter as opposed to Grams with Jen’s mom. BUT I DO LEARN something new everyday it seems…from my kids and young granddaughters. Being able to work with young actors all the time is a wonderful way to keep learning … AND give advice when asked for it.
TDW: Why do you think Grams was the one to teach the greatest lessons and have the wisest sayings? (My favorite is probably “Love is the hardest of woods.”)
Peil: Oh I love that line! When I was shooting FRINGE with Josh [Jackson, Pacey], he brought out that line as one of his favorites. Grams was really the only GROWNUP. It seemed that everyone’s PARENTS were going through their own adolescence angst/identity crisis etc. and I think [creator Kevin Williamson] wisely tapped into the “PRIMAL Tribal Elder” syndrome which our society seems to fight or ignore.
TDW: Grams had a pretty progressive love life for her age. Which parts of that did you think were realistic and which not so much?
Peil: Again…I think society dictates that she was progressive for her age. But I think being surrounded by all those raging hormones and libidos had a subliminal affect on her. Made her see herself in the mirror a little differently each day and as time went on begin to realize there was something missing in her life. I think the only thing TRULY UNrealistic about it was the availability of single straight age-appropriate MEN!!!!
TDW: They touched on this a little bit at the Paley Center panel and I’m wondering what your take is. Fans would’ve been devastated had Grams died during the show, just as they were when Mitch did. Why do you think it was so important that she even outlived her own granddaughter?
Peil: Another life lesson for everyone…the only thing you can expect is the UNexpected. Parents are supposed to go first BUT it doesn’t always turn out that way. AND of course it gave Kevin the opportunity to write some of his best stuff for the last episode.
TDW: Your Grams voice isn’t actually your natural one. What inspired the voice and what was it like having to do it so often?
Peil: It just CAME at the audition. Her name was GRAMS so I knew that she was older than me. The first time I said “Jennifer!!!”…it all fell into place. They wanted a hint of Cape Cod but not too much. It was like part of my costume…that voice…part of putting gray in my hair…that voice…GRAMS.
TDW: As you mentioned, earlier this year, you reunited with Joshua Jackson on the set of Fringe. What was that like? Are you in touch with any of the other cast or crew?
Peil: When I arrived for a fitting the day before I was to shoot, Josh came through the office where I was waiting and all the
staff was peeking out of cubbies and from behind desks to see what would happen when he saw me. He did not disappoint.
He is such an OPEN Unaffected person…he literally jumped up and down with joy like I was his favorite Christmas present. We hadn’t seen each other in a while. We had done a reading together a couple of years ago. And it was sheer delight to work with him on set and to see what a splendid actor and MAN he has become. I shot a film in Wilmington (THE LIST) and reunited with many of the wonderful crew. The DAWSON’S crew was just HEAVEN! Salt of the earth types…happy to be living and working in coastal NC.
I saw Katie [Holmes, Joey] in ALL MY SONS on Broadway and was so proud of her. Have occasional emails, conversations with James [Van Der Beek, Dawson]. But Michelle is my ANGEL! I have unconditional love and respect for her. For her choices in her personal life and her professional life
TDW: Finish this sentence: When I look back on Dawson’s Creek, I think ….
Peil: I’m a big believer in the Gods and Goddesses of TIMING and the CREEK came into my life at the PERFECT time. I am deeply grateful for all that I learned (about being on camera regularly) AND for my beautiful Upper West Side apartment which we call the “HOUSE THAT DAWSON BUILT.”
TDW: Will we see more of you on The Good Wife?
Peil: I think so…am shooting a wonderful episode right now. Hoping Jackie has more to do as we go along through the season. It is a wonderful show…cast, crew, producers AND WRITERS !
TDW: Lastly: I’m a Northwestern graduate as well, and I’m wondering if you’ve been back to the campus since you went there and what reflections you have of your time there.
Peil: Yes, I have been back. Shortly after graduation I was appearing at the Opera house in Chicago so I came up to Evanston to visit. They were just starting the lakefront development. In the early 80s I was back again with Chicago Opera Theatre and 4 years later I was there with KING AND I and went up and was knocked out by the changes. And then recently I was doing a play at Steppenwolf and came up and literally did not recognize the place. I was a Music Major and it took some doing to even FIND that big old white elephant of a building. I had a wonderful rich time at NU… a solid liberal arts education, the BEST preparation for a career in Opera AND one year of acting with the legendary Alvina Krauss. She let me take her class because she was an Opera fan..and I think she knew even back then that I was a singing ACTRESS as opposed to an acting SINGER. Even life in the Sorority house has given me life long friends. How lovely that you too are an Alum….quite an impressive group of folks, eh???
Come back Sunday for another exclusive Dawson’s Creek interview!

Dawson’s Creek: The Complete Series Available on DVD Today!
10 11 2009And I’ll be running out this morning to buy my copy!
Best 100 bucks I’ll ever spend!
We had a glimpse at the artwork and learned some of the details in September but now I’m excited to examine it first-hand.
Check back later today for more details!
UPDATE
After going to three different stores, I finally found it!
First I went to Barnes & Noble, my go-to store for this stuff, but they didn’t have it and the guy even said there were limited pressings and Barnes & Noble as a whole company was only getting about 100 copies!
Borders didn’t have it either but then I found it at Best Buy.
Given how long it took to me to find a copy and what the Barnes & Noble guy said, I suggest buying it online (assuming you don’t have an urgent need to get it immediately, as I did).

It’s packaged like a scrapbook or picturebook with the thick pages often used in children’s books. Most of the pictures we have seen before either from promo shots or because they were taken as screen grabs from the episodes.

There’s an episode guide for each season as well as pages dedicated to each of the main characters with both a character bio and an a credits list for the actor. The character bios, titled The Life and Loves of _____, were very detailed in terms of both plot and personality for Dawson and Joey, but focused more on personality for Jen and Pacey and more on plot for Andie, Jack and Audrey. Andie and Jack also shared a page while Audrey had her own. Audrey had the shortest blurb, though, and Andie’s wasn’t much longer.

As gorgeous as it looked and as comprehensive as it seemed, I of course found several flaws.
Some of the pages would be for season X but they’d have pictures that weren’t from that season. The episode descriptions were vague (though that’s typical) and the text as a whole suffered from poor grammar and weak writing. But, worst of all, are the factual errors
Call me nit-picky but I have to get these off my chest. They’re kind of insulting since they are obvious errors to fans of the show and really makes you wonder who they have writing these things and checking them.
Here are some of the errors I found:(1) They said Gail and Mitch split because she goes to Philadelphia for a job. Well, she does go to Philly but they split before that because Mitch couldn’t get over her affair. (2) They said Dawson’s rejection drove Joey to Pacey romantically but actually a lot of time elapsed between Dawson’s rebuff and Joey developing feelings for Pacey. (3) They said Dawson broke up with Gretchen but she broke up with him. (4) One of the episode descriptions randomly refers to Jen as Jennifer, even though none of the others do and only Grams ever called her that. (5) They said Joey broke up with Pacey because of her feelings for Dawson but Pacey actually broke up with her and it had more to do with his feelings of insecurity. (6) They said in the series finale Joey finally admits she loves Pacey but she had admitted it many times in seasons past. She was really admitting that she *still* loved him. (7) They said Andie cheated on her college entrance exam but it was actually the PSATs. (8) They said Joey threw a surprise birthday party for Pacey, but it was really his family that planned it and she had no choice but to go along with it. (8) They said Pacey sailed around the world for a year after skipping graduation but it was neither the world nor a year. I forget where exactly his trip went but it was only for a few months. (9) They said Jack dated Toby during his senior year of high school but their first date wasn’t until the prom and they didn’t really start dating until after that. (10) I don’t remember Andie being short for Andrea but I *could* be wrong. (11) They refer to Jen as Jennifer on her character page but use Andie and not Andrea on her character page. (12) They said Jen and Pacey get advice on their love lives from touring musicians but it’s actually Jen and Audrey who do.
Again, perhaps these are really silly things to complain about but, being a journalist, I have trouble settling for less than 100 percent accuracy.
Moving on to the special features, these take 3 forms: a DVD, a CD and some factoids in the book. The book contains a few pieces of both interesting and ridiculously random trivia (Jack was voted best athlete in the senior class poll vs. the population of Capeside is 35,000). There’s also recipes–yes, recipes–from each of the characters, which is completely odd since these were never mentioned on the show. They could’ve had them relate to The Ice House or Leery’s Fresh Fish or Pacey’s restaurant but there’s no logic behind these. The CD contains 5 songs, including the theme song. I know the last song, Five For Fighting’s Superman, was definitely on one of the previously released soundtracks but I’m not sure about the others without looking it up.
The DVD special features include a few deleted scenes and the alternate ending to the pilot, all of which are available on a prior season release (I think it’s season 1). There’s a trivia game called “Final Exam” and I remember something similar being on another season’s set. But these did seem like new questions (based on clips, two of which included One Tree Hill’s Chad Michael Murray in his Dawson’s Creek role of Charlie), some of which were kind of obvious and others that would be difficult for a casual viewer. I, of course, rocked it but will admit I got 2 or 3 obscure questions wrong. I still ended up being a “Bona Fide Capesider” or something like that.
The highlight of the special features was “Creek Daze,” a retrospective with creator Kevin Williamson. There’s also a similar feature on the season 1 set but this was definitely a new interview. Most of the information has been heard time and again and is readily available elsewhere but it’s still a treat to hear it directly from him and seeing the clips mixed in. He mostly talked about starting the show and finding the cast and the flack the show got from critics (both in the industry and parents groups, etc.). But it was the first time (Paley Panel coverage aside) that I heard him address three major decisions: making Jack gay, killing Jen and having the series end with Joey and Pacey back together. And I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t in tears by the end (mostly from the Jen stuff, but still).
I think I covered everything but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Enjoy the pictures below and keep your fingers crossed for Beverly Hills 90210: The Complete Series!

10 11 2009RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!
Monty in New Mexico: What’s next on Gossip Girl?
I’m told that after tonight’s threeway, everything will be very messy for Dan, Olivia and Vanessa. “Things are not well,” says my source, and the threesome will have repercussions for all relationships involved, and we’ll see it all play out next week via flashbacks of the dirty deeds that were done. Also next week, a fourth wheel comes into the mix: Lady Gaga! No, she’s not actually hitting the sack for an L-O-V-D foursome (can you imagine?), but her music is the catalyst through which Dan, Olivia and Vanessa have to stay connected and work together even more closely for the time being (thanks to an assignment).
Oh, and for all of you who are sooo tired of hearing about the ménage à trois—can we all just have a cigarette and cab fare already?—I have this news to share: A main Gossip Girl character is going to get in a serious accident. One that will send her to the hospital. And that someone is Serena (Blake Lively).
Montana in Spain: Please, some scoop on One Tree Hill?
This just in: Millicent will get a DUI, Nathan will fire Clay when the Bobcats sign another player instead of him and Brooke and Julian will continue to have major problems.
Morris in Minneapolis: Anything good coming up on 90210?
I know I just said this about One Tree Hill, but now it’s also true on 90210: Someone is going to try to commit suicide. Think you know who? Also, the truth about Jen and Liam comes out in episode 11, Dixon’s birth mother will return and Debbie will start flirting with her yoga instructor.
***
Notes:
At first I wasn’t sure where she previously said about a potential suicide on One Tree Hill but then I realized it was in a spoiler chat from 2 weeks ago.
The yoga instructor Debbie flirts with will be played by Greg Vaughan (Cliff, Beverly Hills 90210). I already posted photos.
If you need a refresher on Dixon and his birth mom, check out my reaction post from last season.

- Clay says he lost his wife a while back (not sure how that answers the question but anyway…) and the kid says his mom died, too.
- Clay asks if he wants to talk about it but the kid doesn’t think it will help.

- But she’s hysterical, telling him she found coke and is tempted to do some but she doesn’t want to go back to who she was.
- She begs him to come and he tells her to stay put.
- I’d like to remind you all that The O.C. did a similar storyline. Sigh.
- Julian looks for Brooke but she’s gone from the bar.
- Clay and Nathan meet up at the bar.
- Clay is in a great mood and it has to do with Nathan’s career.
- Chase introduces Grubbs (aka the guy from Wakey Wakey) as the new bartender. What a lame plug. But OTH is known for these.
- Quinn joins them as the bar.
- Q18: “White wine’s gonna make you both happy.” “Wow. He’s better than Zelda.”–Grubbs to Clay and Quinn, Quinn
- Haley takes the stage and says she’s been gone for a while but she’s happy to be back and hopes people like her songs.

- Brooke comes up, incredibly pissed. Apparently Millie is wearing the dress that Brooke said she would kill Haley if she wore. It’s supposed to be for the spring line.
- Millicent doesn’t see it being a big deal. Brooke tells the dress needs to get of there now.
- Q19: Your choice or your job.–Brooke
- Brooke storms off and Millie says again it’s not a big deal. There’s no one important here anyway.
- Mouth is put-off by that and confronts her about the pills.
- Millie says it’s not a big deal that she took a few diet pills and Mouth says it is a big deal.
- She says she’s under pressure in the modeling world and she thought he understood.
- Alex is apologizing to Julian for calling him. She says she had no one else.
- Julian asks about her sponsor and she admits rehab was a charade for publicity.
- She says she never stopped doing drugs except for when Julian is around.
- He says he’ll take the drugs and go. And she points out she’ll go out and get more.
- She explains she doesn’t know what to do. She’s still hysterically crying and it’s actually kind of moving.
- Q20: It’s so quiet in here and I hate myself when it’s quiet.–Alex
- Julian tells her what an amazing girl she is but Alex says she can’t see her.
- Julian says they just need to get through tonight. She’s still crying.
- Miranda tells Haley the concert was “genius” and then takes credit for.
- She calls Grubbs hot, makes a trashy comment and leaves.
- Nathan comes over and tells Haley how amazing she was.
- Haley says she’s so happy and they’ve come so far.
- And then Nathan spots Rachel and Dan.
- Q21: “He is the healthiest looking dying man I have ever seen.” “I guess evil does the body good.”–Haley and Nathan
- Rachel comes up behind Brooke and gives her a check: what she took plus interest.
- Q22: Not that I have anything to say to your thieving ass…–Brooke (I missed the rest. Sigh.)
- Rachel tells Brooke she needs to apologize for leaving the money out where she could take it. Um, what?!
- Rachel also says Brooke needs to learn about forgiveness and would if she watched Dan’s show.
- Brooke slaps her!
- Q23: Stay away from me, bitch!–Brooke
- Yes! These are the Rachel scenes I’ve been waiting for!
- Dan joins Nathan at the bar.
- He says he’s sorry he surprised Nathan by just showing up.
- Q24: You’re always sorry, Dan.–Nathan
- Nate asks Dan what he wants. He says “a chance.”
- Nathan says no way.
- Q25: And I’m kind of thinking you should cancel your plane ride to ask Lucas, too.–Nathan
- I’m glad they mentioned Lucas. They needed to.
- Dan reminds him that he fixed the Renee situation and Nate says thank you but it doesn’t change things.
- Q26: You’re dead to me. The moment Keith died, you died.–Nathan
- I love that it all comes back to that!

- Quinn and Clay are on the beach, kind of flirting.
- Clay suggests they go for a swim and Quinn reminds him that she’s afraid of swimming.
- Clay says he’s afraid too–of moving on, of being afraid.
- He kisses her!

- At home, Haley tells Nathan that Dan can’t hurt them anymore. Nate says he knows that.
- Haley comes on to him and they are about to make out when the sportscaster on the TV says the Bobcats have filled their roster, leaving Nathan out.
- Preview: Mouth asks Millie if she’s doing cocaine, Alex says she’s not lying about her drug issues, Julian says tells her to stay away, Nathan goes off on Clay about his career and Quinn, Dan is trying to drown Clay in the ocean

- It’s Cotillion and the minions are trying to find Jenny a date.
- Remember when they did cotillion in season one? And on The O.C.?
- Jenny wants to go with Graham Collins but the girls said they can’t get to him.
- She says they better or she’ll steal their escorts.
- Jenny shows up at the rehearsal or something and sees the elite from the other private schools. She’s clearly feeling insecure.
- Q1: “I have a surprise for you.” “If that’s the case, then why are you still dressed?”–Blair and Chuck
- Chuck says it’s Nate “move-in” weekend. Moving in where?
- And they are having a “lost weekend.”
- Chuck tells Blair to go to cotillion but she says she won’t because of Serena.
- Chuck says they need make up.
- There’s a dinner at the van der Woodsens and Blair reluctantly agrees to go at Chuck’s urging.
- Serena is trying to get a new job…in Tripp’s office.
- He hires her on the spot.
- They bond on memories of when they were younger and their families vacationed together.
- Serena says she needs to go because of the cotillion dinner. She thanks him for the job and says their talk on election night meant a lot to her.
- Someone else in Tripp’s office says he didn’t know they were hiring and Tripp says it can’t hurt to have another person.
- Olivia, Dan and Vanessa are studying at the cafe.
- A bunch of “nerds” swarm her, wanting details on a sequel to her vampire movie.
- Olivia says it’s not happening because she hasn’t heard anything. But then she sees has 6 missed calls and takes off.
- Lily is apparently in charge of cotillion.
- Jenny tells her that she doesn’t have an escort yet.
- Lily names someone and tells Jenny she needs to catch up on the dancing.
- Jenny’s confused since it’s the first rehearsal but Lily explains that she hasn’t taken ballroom lessons like the rest of the girls.
- Jenny is quite obviously feeling out of place.
- A girl tries to talk to Jenny but Jenny ignores her.
- The girl is Kira (Kyra?) and Eric will be escorting her.
- Kira says she knows Graham and could help Jenny but Eric tells her that Jenny prefers it when people stay out of her life.
- Hmmm. Eric is plotting now, eh?

- Dan and Vanessa joke about a list of college cliches and what they haven’t and have done.

- Jenny admits she’s freaked out and trying to be the Queen of the whole Upper East Side, not just Constance.
- She says her debut needs to be perfect.
- Eric gives her a dancing tip and she asks why he’s being so nice.
- He says why but I missed it. He did seem genuine though my gut tells me not believe him.
- He tries to help her to dance and she says she wishes he could be her escort.
- Eric suggests Jonathan as her escort and she’s more than willing.
- But why on earth would Jonathan be willing to go with her? It must be a scheme!
- Jenny leaves her phone and, of course, gets a text.
- It’s from Graham. He’s willing to be her escort.
- Eric replies that she already has one. Oh boy!
- Blair comes to Serena’s dinner.
- Blair tells Serena she needs to apologize and S tells B she should.
- Now they are arguing over who should mentor Jenny.
- Jenny’s clearly uncomfortable.
- Q2: I’m not going to be a pawn in your war.–Jenny
- Blair reminds us that she went to cotillion with Nate.
- Jenny says Jonathan is her escort. Blair, of course, makes fun.
- Q3: This isn’t like your wedding day. It’s cotillion. It only happens once.–Blair
- Serena says Jenny shouldn’t be in the middle and Blair can be her mentor. She needs to get to work with Tripp, anyway.
- Jonathan is refusing to be Jenny’s escort.
- Eric is trying to explain this is their chance to stop her from completely going to “the dark side.”
- I don’t understand what he’s doing.
- Serena joins Tripp at his office, even though it’s after hours.
- He explains the speech he’s working on and they kind of share a “moment.”
- The employee from earlier catches them and he tells Serena she should go.
- She clearly didn’t pick up on any of the tension and is surprised Tripp doesn’t want her help.
- Why would he want Serena’s help for an political speech? LOL
- Kira introduces herself to Jenny and says she’s jealous Blair is her mentor.
- She says how Jenny doesn’t need Graham then and it comes out that Eric texted Graham on behalf of Jenny.
- Jonathan overhears and gets POed, realizing he was part of Eric’s scheme.
- Jenny says she’s going to go to go with Graham now and tells Blair she no longer needs her mentoring.
- Q4: Your era’s over. And so is that headband.–Jenny
- Eric and Blair are going to team up to take Jenny down, apparently.
- Q5: Who knows what could happen when these two tango.–Gossip Girl
- Blair goes to Chuck’s, where he and Nate are enjoying their “lost weekend.”
- Which apparently includes girls wearing Blair’s lingerie? I would assume they were just dancing or stripping, as I don’t think Chuck is allowed a freebie. Or is he?
- Chuck asks if Blair if she worked things out with Serena but she says no.
- When she leaves, Chuck and Nate discuss how calm Blair is and that it can’t possibly last.
- Q6: And when it breaks, there’s going to be pieces of Blair all over the wall and I don’t want to clean up that mess.–Chuck
- Q7: Basically about how each one loves the other more than the other loves her.–Chuck to Nate when he asks what B and S are fighting about.
- Chuck picks up B’s purse. He obviously has something planned.
- Serena senses Tripp acting distant and calls him out on it.
- He calls this a “mistake” and Serena is confused, because he suggested the job.
- Tripp then compliments her and basically says he likes her, which is why he wanted her there but he can’t handle it.
- She’s speechless and gets a text. It’s from Blair saying she’s misses her and she doesn’t want to fight.
- Serena is quite happy and tells Tripp she won’t makes things difficult and leaves.
- Tripp isn’t happy.
- Blair is with Kira, who she will now mentor.
- She wants to prep Kira to surpass Jenny. She compares things to her and Serena.
- Kira looks familiar. Wonder what else she’s been in.
- Montage of everyone getting ready for cotillion.
- Q8: Goodbye Jenny from Brooklyn.–Jenny
- Dan, Vanessa and Olivia are at a college party taking a shot.
- Dan and Olivia kiss. Already signs that this will be the threesome.
- All 3 seems to be drunk.
- The nerds go over to Dan and say he’s getting in the way of Olivia and the movie they want.
- Olivia says she has to take the movie.
- Blair is pleased with her work on Kira and has a new escort for her.
- Kira says she’s supposed to go with Eric but Eric walks in with Graham.
- He’s going to go with Kira, not Jenny!
- 90210 promo
- Nate is all dressed for cotillion. But why? I guess to watch.
- Rufus tells Jenny she doesn’t have to do this if she doesn’t want to and Lily says it’s a little late for that.
- Jenny says she’s game.
- Nate asks Jenny where Blair is but she says she hasn’t seen her.
- She says she’s looking for her escort, Graham.
- She references the season 1 episode. Did Nate take her? I thought he took Blair…
- Nate finds Blair and gives her a card from Chuck, who is apparently waiting upstairs for her.
- I imagine this is a set-up for Blair and Serena.
- Blair asks Eric how he got Graham to help them and he insinuates he knows Graham has experimented.
- Olivia tells Dan they can do long-distance again.
- Vanessa says she’s happy about the movie but sad for Olivia to go.
- They leave the party to hang out elsewhere.
- Serena and Blair meet up, each shocked to see the other.
- They get into the elevator together, which stops working.
- Repeat of Dan and Serena season 1?
- They use the call button for help and Chuck answers that the elevator won’t be fixed until they work their issues out. Aw.
- LOL Chuck stashed cookies and alcohol for them.
- Blair asks Serena what the text she got said. Seems like a step towards a reconciliation.
- But I cannot handle this back-and-forth anymore!
- Jenny is shocked to see Kira escorted by Graham.
- Jenny is left without an escort, as everyone stares at her. She walks off.
- A rock band is performing a song with the line “I’m a bitch.” This doesn’t seem very cotillion-like to me!
- Rufus and Lily try to comfort Jenny but she’s not willing.
- This was her one chance, she says.
- Jenny asks Eric where Blair is but Eric tells he to just let it go. All this isn’t worth it.
- Jenny calls someone and asks if they are still there.
- Back in the elevator, Serena reveals she went looking for her father, whom she found but he refused to see her.
- Blair is rightly shocked and wants to know why Serena didn’t tell her.
- Serena says she’s ashamed that everyone has dads that are there for them–even Nate’s, in his own way–but she doesn’t.
- Blair says it’s her father’s loss to miss out on her but she says she can’t let it go.
- Blair says she’s allowed to miss him and S says she doesn’t want to.
- Her memories of him are him always traveling and then one day not coming back.
- She says she can’t get anything right anymore–Carter, Brown, the paparazzi…and now Tripp.
- Blair is, again, shocked.
- Serena says she kind of always had a crush on him and now they work together.
- Blair asks if something happened and Serena says the text from earlier saved them.
- Blair says Serena can’t see him anymore. Carter was one thing but Tripp is “a married Congressman.”
- She makes Serena promise she won’t do anything without consulting her.
- Grown. Back to Blair thinking everyone needs her permission to live life.
- They patch things up and Chuck, apparently, has been listening through the elevator intercom.
- Q9: “If you guys want to kiss, it won’t count as cheating.” “Creepy, Chuck.”–Chuck and Serena
- Dan, Olivia and Vanessa are the loft, still drinking.
- They show Olivia the full list of college cliches. One is left: have a threesome.
- She says she understands why it’s the only one left.
- Dan says he never’s done one and Olivia says she did in a movie and Vanessa says she hasn’t.
- They all are clearly thinking about it.
- Dan and Olivia kiss.
- Vanessa looks uncomfortable.
- Olivia smiles at her and then they kiss!
- They’re both smiling now.
- Now it’s Dan and Vanessa’s turn!
- Amazing that fans have wanted them together since the beginning and this is how they finally get it.
- They kiss and everyone seems happy.
- A female slow and sexy version of “Whatever You Like” by T.I. is playing. I kind of like it.
- Serena and Blair are going to find Nate and Chuck to thank them.
- Turns out, Jenny is going to debut after all…with Nate!
- I saw that coming. It’s cute given their history but also complex given their history.
- Everyone is impressed that she got not only a college guy but the “epic” Nate Archibald.
- Blair is shocked and Eric is peeved.
- Q10: Nobody puts Jenny in the corner and now she’s having the time of her life.–Gossip Girl
- Another promo for the newscast about GG. They’re really milin this.
- Jenny thanks Nate for saving her once again.
- Blair actually congratulates her for pulling it off.
- Serena and Blair are going to continue to hang out–but first she needs to go to Tripp’s office and “resign.”
- Jonathan shows up and says he read what happened on Gossip Girl. Damn, Gossip Girl works fast! (Maybe she live-blogs like me!)
- Jonathan asks if it’s true Eric schemed with Blair. He can’t believe Eric went to Blair’s level.
- Eric says it wasn’t a big deal and it’s overwith, anyway.
- Jonathan says he doesn’t want to do this anymore–their relationship. He explains Eric has become a different person who never wanted to prove anything to anyone but now he’s changed. He did just what Jenny did.
- He ends things and Eric looks dumbfounded and sad.
- I’m kind of bothered because I expected more from Eric/this storyline. It ended up just being a repeat of Jenny turning into Blair.
- Chuck says he’s willing to be “punished” for his scheme.
- Blair says his punishment is a night without her because she’s going to be “with my best friend.” Aw.
- Jenny finds Eric and gushes how the night worked out for her.
- She says she’s sorry Jonathan was “collateral damage.”
- She invites Eric to go out with her but he passes.
- Jenny tells Kira she did a good job getting the guy but if she tries to outdo her again, there will be problems.
- Kira and Eric team up to stop Jenny.
- This is getting old. Actually, it already is.
- Serena goes to see Tripp. He’s happy to see her.
- She says they shouldn’t be working together and quits.
- Tripp says Serena shouldn’t pass up this opportunity and, even more so, he trusts her.
- She says she trusts him, too.
- He promises not to “cross that line” and says he’ll keep things “friendly and professional.”
- They shake hands in a really sensual way.
- Blair walks in and interrupts them and tells Serena to leave with her.
- Serena tells Blair she’s fine and they’ll talk tomorrow. Blair is peeved and leaves.
- Here we go again!
- Rufus and Lily are pleased by how the night went, even if they can’t keep their kids’ relationships straight.
- Lily says she’ll come to bed but she has something to sign for Bass Industries.
- She sorts through the papers and finds an envelope from “Dr. Van Der Woodsen.”–her ex and Serena’s dad!
- Cut to Olivia, Dan and Vanessa in bed together, sleeping but clearly naked.
- Olivia gets a text: the movie is off.
- Fade to black. That was the whole “controversial” threesome. Though we’ll supposedly see “more” in flashbacks but more of the threesome or more of the same? Verdict: much ado about nothing!
- Preview: Dan gushes about the threesome but Nate tells him he did it wrong: the third girl had to be a stranger, with the implication that the aftermath is awkward otherwise. Olivia calls Vanessa out on being in love with Dan. Nate tells Dan he had 2 girls but he blew it.
Those are my thoughts. What are yours?

9 11 2009RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!
What’s the big deal with this “Gossip Girl” threesome? Why is everyone making such a fuss? Can you say who the participating players are? -Michelle
I haven’t yet seen the episode, so I won’t offer my opinion on what goes down, but I will say that a little birdie told me Hilary Duff (aka Dan’s girlfriend Olivia) is definitely involved.
Didn’t you report that there’s still hope for Liam and Naomi on “90210” this season? Doesn’t it seem like the new surfer girl is going after him? -P
The new surf girl is absolutely making a play for Liam, but that doesn’t mean she’ll get what she wants. Actually, I know for a fact that Naomi will be the victor in this battle and be back with Liam before we know it… much to our new friend’s chagrin.
Actually, Naomi will reconcile with Annie as well, right around the same time.
I stopped by the set of “90210” to speak with Annalynne McCord on the subject…
