  • Last night’s 90210 (2.1 million viewers rounded up) increased a bit in the ratings compared to last week.

  • Mitch Ryan has been cast on One Tree Hill.

  • The CW sent out a press release officially announcing the January 18 premiere date for Life UneXpected, starring Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek) and Shiri Appleby (Rene, Beverly Hills 90210).  The release explains how the schedule swap with One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl will work: OTH will have new episodes January 18-March 1 followed by LUX, then March 8-April 12 LUX will air followed by new episodes of GG. After that, LUX is done and OTH and GG will both be back in their regular spots for the rest of the season.

  • Be sure to check out The CW’s site for all the new video content this week.
  • Last night’s One Tree Hill (2.7 million viewers rounded up) and Gossip Girl (2.4  million viewers rounded up) saw a great increase in the ratings compared to last week. One Tree Hill matched its season-high, and The CW sent out a press release touting that and Gossip Girl’s increases in the key demographics.
  • Examiner.com has an interview with Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill).  I love what he says about The Notebook.  It’s both kind of sweet in an idealistic way and funny in a realistic way.  By the way, have you read my interview with Nichols?
  • MTV picked up The Notebook comments as well. It’s even more interesting when you consider that Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley, One Tree Hill) is adapting the movie into a musical.  That’s what Lee Norris (Mouth) was referring to in our interview.
  • The One Tree Hill Connection has a new podcast with an interview with Mike Grubbs of WakeyWakey who played, um, Grubbs in last night’s episode.
  • PEOPLE.com has a poll asking if the Gossip Girl threesome was “too sexy or too safe.”
  • The Parents Television Council released a new statement in response to the episode.
  • I really enjoyed TVGuideMagazine.com‘s take on the threesome and Variety has an interesting comparison to Two and a Half Men.
  • Gossip Girl has been nominated for Favorite TV Obsession and Blake Lively (Serena) was nominated for Favorite TV Drama Actress in the People’s Choice Awards, where fans actually vote for the winners.
  • In case you missed my coverage, Dawson’s Creek: The Complete Series was released on DVD today.  They also finally updated the Web site!
  • Just noticed that James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) tweeted about the Chad Michael Murray (Charlie, Dawson’s Creek; Lucas, One Tree Hill) comments at the Paley panel.
  • In advance of its January premiere, EW.com is already telling readers to watch Life UneXpected, which stars Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek).
  • Adam Brody (Seth, The O.C.) says he tried doing his own singing for Jennifer’s Body but they didn’t like his voice.

  • Chad Michael Murray (Lucas, One Tree Hill) was on a radio show for a charity in Buffalo. I think this is the first press he’s done since he left the show.
  • SoGoPro’s first webseries, Friendship Union Community Theater launched today.  You can watch it here.  Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) also posted a vlog to go with it.
  • According to a study by LiveHive Systems, One Tree Hill has the most social impact (aka social engagement) of any show on the air last season. The new 90210 was a distant second, followed by Jon and Kate Plus 8. “One Tree Hill’s top performance in the Social Engagement Index is the combination of a story format that is well suited to active social discussion and interactivity, and a demographic that gravitates to multi-platform media consumption,” says the press release.
  • PopSugar posted photos of some of the 90210 cast at a recent event.
  • Will.I.Am of the  Black Eyed Peas explains his connection to Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills 90210) in an MTV article.
  • You can vote in a PEOPLE.com poll whether you want Grant Show (Jake, Beverly Hills 90210/Melrose Place) to appear on the new Melrose.

  • I find it pretty disgusting that Perez Hilton is selling Team Tori and Team Candy tee shirts.  Guess it’s also disgusting that I’m giving it attention.
  • Taylor Momsen (Jenny, Gossip Girl) is on the cover of Teen Vogue.  They posted an interview excerpt online and PEOPLE.com also has a story on it.
  • The next part of the Gossip Girl bracket is available.
  • Gossip Girl’s Valley Girls (the 80s episode) and One Tree Hill’s We Three – My Echo, My Shadow and Me (the 1940s episode) are nominated for Best Special Episode in the Sourcies.
  • According to the above link, Victoria (Daphne Zuniga) won in the Hooray! The Bitch is Back category.
  • There’s a commercial for the One Tree Hill Season 6 DVD.
  • India de Beaufort has joined the cast of One Tree Hill as Miranda, who comes to down to take over Peyton’s record company for her.  Not happy about this!
  • Hilarie Burton (Peyton, One Tree Hill) posted another vlog on the SoGoPro site.
  • According to MTV News, Mischa Barton (Marissa, The O.C.) has been out of the hospital since “early last week.”
  • According to E!Online, Barton won’t be at the Television Critics Association panel for The Beautiful Life.  The other show mentioned in the article, Life Unexpected, stars Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek).
  • Examiner.com has an interview with a director who was inspired by the Marissa-Alex (Olivia Wilde) relationship on The O.C.
  • Peter Gallagher (Sandy, The O.C.) stars in Adam, which will be released in theaters this weekend.
  • The Guardian says The Vampire Diaries, which stars Paul Wesley (Donnie, The O.C.) is “a Frankenstein’s monster of teenage programming, featuring the hot teens of Beverley Hills 90210, the arched eyebrows of Gossip Girl, the soft heart of Dawson’s Creek, and some fangs.” I  thought that was cute.

  • Parental Discretion Advised, one of The CW’s planned mid-season replacements starring Kerr Smith (Jack, Dawson’s Creek), has changed names again.  It’s now called Life UneXpected.
