RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

As you probably know by now, Gossip Girl‘s Chuck and Blair are going to be going through a rough patch caused by Chuck.

So what does Chuck do to Blair that leads to the crisis? Is it true that a fling with Jenny Humphrey is involved? Get the exclusive scoop on that.

Patricia in Boston: At first I was just sad about the Chuck-Blair breakup news, but now I am freaking the hell out. Is it true that the horrible thing Chuck does is sleep with Jenny Humphrey? I’ll never watch Gossip Girl again if that’s what happens!
Well, don’t delete that Gossip Girl season pass from your TiVo just yet, because sources assure us that this particular rumor is totally false. So, while we can’t tell you yet what bad thing Chuck does do, we can assure that you, no, Chuck does not sleep with Jenny. Whew.

Lauren in New York City: I’m so sad about Chuck and Blair breaking up on Gossip Girl! Anything new on that?
Ed Westwick
himself says of Gossip Girl‘s upcoming storylines, “It all gets set on its side. Everything goes upside down. Things are going to get even more dramatic than they always are.” And Gossip boss Josh Schwartz tweeted, “Trust. #ChuckandBlair.” Believe the man. Josh is the one who made Chuck and Blair so awesome in the first place, and he wouldn’t be breaking them up unless it was part of a greater plan, right?

Chloe in Grand Island, Neb.: I approve of the casting of Billy Baldwin (although John Slattery would have been ideal) as Serena’s dad on Gossip Girl, but I now have to know before I get too excited. Is Daddy van der Woodsen completely evil, or does he have any redeeming qualities?
We’re told we’ll see that William van der Woodsen does want to get back into Serena and Eric’s life on Gossip Girl. That doesn’t mean he’s a pure good guy—his motives for seeing them could be totally dark side—but at least he’s no longer totally dissing his own children.

Hope in Worcester, Mass.: Please give me some One Tree Hill scoop!
We see Sarah, Clay’s (Robert Buckley) dead wife again—but she won’t be Sarah. (Dun dun dunnnnn…)

Phil in Nevada: What’s happening when Melrose Place returns?
Colin Egglesfield
and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz only have one episode left, then Nick Zano joins the cast to stir things up. At the GBK Golden Globes gift lounge, Michael Rady told us he’s looking forward to the newbie. “We’re pals, and then…” he teased about Jonah and Nick’s character before stopping himself. “I don’t want to get in trouble, but the murder mystery is out, and that gets filled in with original Melrose, L.A. fun.” That said, insiders tell me that unlike 90210, which is trending toward the new kids, Melrose will be splitting its attention between the youngsters and the old guard likes of Amanda, Michael Mancini and dead Sydney.

We already know Amanda Schull (Sara) will be back.

Laura Leighton (Sophie, Beverly Hills 90210) plays Sydney on Melrose Place.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Question: Earlier this week, Josh Schwartz answered some Gossip Girl questions on Twitter, and he said that Chuck and Blair would get a lot of sexy time, but that maybe they would go too far. Could you please be more clear and maybe tell us what he means with going too far? –Fernanda
Ausiello:
I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that Josh Schwartz is using his Twitter account as a spoiler dispenser. That’s just what I need, more competition. But enough about me and my insecurities. Here’s what I was able to get out of Schwartz: “After conferring with Stephanie Savage about what to say without saying too much, I’d add that Chuck and Blair have always played games to keep their romance exciting. But sometimes those games go too far and have a cost.”

Question: Any Gossip Girl scoop about Jenny? —Angelica
Ausiello:
Mr. Spoiler himself, Josh Schwartz (maybe I should start referring to him as my frenemy?), also recently tweeted that an upcoming GG episode was titled “The 16 Year Old Virgin.” There’s your Jenny spoiler.

Josh Schwartz on Seth Cohen

11 01 2010

“I think that character resonated because a lot of people feel like he did. . . . He wasn’t a loser, per se. He was smart, and had tastes in music and books and comics that were more sophisticated than his peers. He just didn’t subscribe to the high school company line, he was different, other than — and was OK with it. That made a lot of kids feel OK about their outsider-ness.”

8 01 2010
  • Found this pretty cool take on recreating fashion styles as seen on Beverly Hills 90210 in the early 90s.
  • The CW sent out a press release about its schedule for the rest of the TV year: as previously reported, we’ve got One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected beginning January 18, but now we know repeats of LUX and Gossip Girl will air Wednesday nights until March. Also, as previously reported, LUX takes OTH’s spot on March 8 so new episodes of GG can air. 90210 returns with its new episodes the next night, March 9. Then on April 19, LUX is finished and we’ve got new episodes of OTH and GG through the end of the season.

  • You can see Rachel Bilson (Summer, The O.C.) on How I Met Your Mother this Monday.

  • How did I not know Kayla Ewell (Casey, The O.C.) was on The Vampire Diaries, which was created by Kevin Williamson (creator, Dawson’s Creek) and also stars Paul Wesley (Donnie, The O.C.)? Kellan Lutz (George, 90210) spoke very fondly of their (now long ago) relationship when I interviewed him in ’08. On The O.C., Ewell starred alongside Cam Gigandet (Volchok, The O.C), who was also in the Twilight films with Lutz and, of course, Nikki Reed (Sadie, The O.C.) and Jackson Rathbone (Justin, The O.C.). Six degrees…

TDW Look Back, Pt. 3

1 01 2010

Part 1, Part 2

ORIGINAL POSTS: Exclusive: Executive Producer Charles Rosin Reflects on 90210’s Early Years (10/4/09) and Exclusive: Executive Producer Paul Stupin Revisits Dawson’s Creek (11/15/09)

WHY I LOVE THEM: When I first started this site, I never dreamed I’d be interviewing anybody, much less the creators of the teen drama genre. (And major props go to Michael Cudlitz for being the first to agree to an interview!) These are the people that came up with the characters, cast the stars, generated the storylines. Sure, there’s also writers, story editors, casting agents. But these “showrunners,” as they’re called, shape the vision, connect the dots and generally turn a bunch of small parts into the large thing we’ve come to know and  love as teen dramas. There’s no greater treat than to hear about the decisions from the decision-makers themselves.

WHERE I’LL GO FROM HERE: Well, I’d like to fill in the holes. That means, Josh Schwartz (The O.C., Gossip Girl), Mark Schwahn (One Tree Hill) and Rebecca Sinclair (90210), step right up because I’m ready and willing to interview ya. And while I’ve already interviewed a number of others, the pool of teen drama role players is seemingly infinite. I’ve had the privilege of interviewing most of the current main stars in person when I interned at PEOPLE in ’08 but I hope to one day be able to do it again explicitly for TDW. And, of course, all the stars of yesteryear, too.

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Candy in Hawaii: Will Jenny get her knight in shining Armani? I’ve waited so long for Nate and Jenny to happen! Please, please tell me they will be a couple. I want them as my Christmas present!
Here’s what I can tell you. According to my source: “Jenny definitely will try to steal Nate away” later this season, after Nate and Serena are more of a solidified couple. However, in what has been written so far, I’m told “Nate is resisting.” That said, it certainly seems as though Jenny has fully embraced the dark side of her Machiavellian ways (will she be worse than Blair ever was?) because according to my mole, the whole Nate stealing is “going to be pretty underhanded by Jenny. Serena won’t really suspect it for a bit.” So let me get this straight: Little J has screwed over her stepbrother/former BFF and now her stepsister too?! Talk about a character 180 from the first season! Do we have a new Big Bad on the Upper East Side? Are producers trying to make us not like her? Thoughts?

Marlene in Georgetown, Washington, D.C.: Some Gossip Girl news please! Anything big coming up? Deaths? Hookups? Marriages?
Dorota is getting married! Pretty sweet, no? And now that two people very close to Blair have gotten hitched lately (first mom, now Dorota), she has to be next right? OK, probably not. But a girl can dream.

Amanda in Miami: Anything on Jack Bass? Why is he back on Gossip Girl? Is he gonna mess up with Chuckles?
And how. From what I understand, Jack Bass will bring the news to Chuck that his mother is alive. But that may or may not be true. I personally hope it is and would love to meet the mother of Mother Chucker. You!? Who are we thinking could play her? Oooh, what if she turns out to be “The Man,” aka Lena Olin? Please, Santie [Josh] Schwartz, father of Chrismukkah! Make it happen.

Megan in Knoxville, Tenn.: I read somewhere, more then likely here, that when One Tree Hill starts back in January, Haley’s sister Taylor comes back and brings someone from past episodes with her. If this is true, any clues you can give as to who it is? Lucas? Peyton? Thanks!
Yep, that was here, and it is none of those characters but it is a boy. My source doesn’t want me to say who yet, but it’s someone’s ex, and it’s not a major character like Lucas or Peyton. I’ll reveal it when this muzzle comes off!

RELEVANT QUESTIONS–DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!!!

Are Gossip Girl‘s Rufus and Lily going to be able to last? — Jamie
MICKEY:
Executive producer Josh Schwartz, ever the romantic, lays out the odds. “I hope so, but it’s Gossip Girl so no one is happy for long,” he says. Does this mean that Rufus won’t take the news of Lily’s secret rendezvous with Serena’s dad so well? There’s a certain trophy wife out there who knows the answer.

Any 90210 scoop? — Melinda
MICKEY:
Remember how satisfying it was when Naomi finally got her revenge on her monstrous sister Jen? And then remember how sad you were at the departure of Sara Foster, the talented actress who plays the piranha-in-Prada? Well, fear not! Jen will be back, and her re-entry into the 90210-sphere is one of those improbable, only-on-TV developments that will make you chuckle. It will have a different effect on Naomi.
